Have you seen the male melee sexy gear? I have, ive spent millions double melding it so it could actually be useful, just so i could hang out with my junk hanging out. Its not sexist if both sexes get the same treatment. Trust me I make allot of my male LS mates uncomfortable, probably in the same way the OP may feel uncomfortable when looking at women in the same clothes. I also spent tons of money double melding rose gold circlets because i thought they looked cool and different. I like that we can have fun and do stupid stuff and make gear like this usable. Thats the idea of a game right? . . . To have fun.
I think its good that the development team are playing around with gear design. And sometimes affording not to take themselves so seriously. If not we would just get bigger shoulder armor and spikier helmets . . .
I just think skimpy gear looks dumb as hell.
I'd like my endgame armor to actually look like it can take a hit. I'd prefer not to have a gaping hole in my DRG's stomach just because she's sexier with it. Same for male armor where applicable.

Please Mr. Enemy, could you hit me in my soft underbelly? I've grown quite tired of being alive.
And armor can be sexy without being all that revealing either.

I mean, yeah, you can see the side of her thigh, but Ibelieveknow quite well she can handle herself in a fight.
If we don't do something about this we're all going to be overrun by hordes of breast physics D cup Lalafells, all equipped with a JUMP KEY. Is this the kind of world you want your characters to grow up in? THIS IS SERIOUS.
Sex sells. Unfortunately that often means its cheapened into the lowest common appeal.
They're doing everything in their power to get this thing back off the ground. Along with a new world and server system comes 'standard features', nonsensical sexy armor, and so many references that they might not even make sense. Long as they don't go too overboard, it should be fine. But seeing as this has actually never happened before, I don't have a frame of reference. But for things like TV shows and Movie series, they tend to take too much from the "SURE THING!" pile. But Square's not an American broadcast media company, so...we'll see.
I think you may have taken this too far. :/
I think OP is being over sensitive. I'm the opposite; I'm desensitized to too many things. Doesn't matter how skimpy the armor is, if it doesn't have a unique style then I don't really care. I like Gramul's pic for its sexy unique style.
I haven't been hit on in FFXIV. I did get hit on in WoW, guess someone liked my sexy low polygon blood elf ears. I just challenged him to a duel then owned his ass. One of my friends had his mithra in FFXI harrassed and he freaked out. I have no idea what pictures he was envisioning in his head.
I don't think making characters more sexy will make being harassed more likely because every female character will be like this, however if you are the most sexy character in the game then that would make you a more likely target.
Problem with online games is that you're anonyous so you're going to meet people acting out their bad behavior because there is no consequence. You need to expect this and deal with it with the approprate tools such as blocking and reporting them.
This is really an argument when the "Very Large" option for breasts isn't that tremendous?
I don't think it objectifies women or is sexist...
The women in the game like to dress sexy and it is normal for them to wear what they wear.
Not everything is all that revealing anyways...
Actually why am I responding to this stupid thread..
Not sure if the OP is a woman or a man, but she/he needs to know that some us women like to seduce. This abstract excitation of the seduction is really something enjoyable.
For a long time already, humanity has been wearing clothes to mean something and not only to protect from cold/heat and mosquitos (I hate mosquitos >.>). And not only to mean something for others but also for us. Our conception of "beauty" might be a construction but you can't remove the fact that there is something ontological in our behaviour. I remember some american studies showing that just born babies already have gender-oriented interest.
Alright take another example : tango. I do dance tango. I enjoy it. When I started, I felt I was a little bit manipulated by the man. But I discovered that I'm, in fact, more free than him in my moves and that I have more pleasure than he does. The reason is beyond appearence : his moves are very coordinated and restricted, he must always think about his control, about what will be next. His hands are on your waist but his mind is already 3 steps ahead !
So there is no shame in difference. Actually I would think that in-game char should have difference for their stats, not only for the race (dex+ for Mithra, mnd/int+ for Lala, etc.) but also for the gender. Same number of points just different repartition. Equity isn't equality. In name of equality/equivalence a governement could send me in a war where I could just be a meat shield. And I don't feel equal with a 1.9M and 90 kilos guy, neither do I feel equal with a maths genius. Equity/fairness/justice is just enough.
So please keep making nice clothes SE, there are still women who like to be women.
Yes! Square Enix, please CHALLENGE yourself to make sexy looking gear that is actually tasteful.

Solution: A Cloak
Sigh, and to think this thread had finally started to die...
WHY U DO THIS SNIFFLE!!??
Japanese game, Japanese culture and sensibilities
Look at Japanese TV, young girls are quite sexualized and it will carry over to their games too, nothing you can do about it from a Western country so just appreciate the sexy!
I know right, if it wasn't for westerns we'd have half naked Elins in TERA.
