I am waiting for Buster sword personally :P

Hmm maybe. Lux. But i see alot of entertaining gag in the moogle weapons but with the gag i see nice detail and form (Moogle axe has moogle cuteness but its still a pretty sexy axe). I look at some of the Guardia weapons and i see more oversized tacked on parts, which i remember happening quite a bit in wow weaponry.
I guess to me it just seems a silly way to decide on the aesthetics of drops. Guardia of wind. Lets put wings on a bunch of the drops. Big feathery wings. When you could just as well make the same "wing and feather" statement in the shape and forom of the bow itself.
(Maybe the arc of the bow could be the winged pattern and the handle and knock could have a decorated handguard that could make the whole bow looks like a bird/angel/guardia in flight)
I guess the above is more of the aesthetic look i'm more pleased with. And if you take a look at alot of the clothes and armor in FF14. Some of these weapons look so out of place. Which might be why they look even more over the top.
Take a look at say Vintage Hauberk or even Colbolt plate. and then look at some of the up coming weapons. It just makes the difference seem even bigger. FF14 has a more muted look then many MMOs and even past FF games. Like some posters said.
I wonder what it's like to be born without that part of your brain which tells you if something is ugly or not. Fact is, some of these weapons just don't mesh with the rest of the gameworld. It looks wrong. S.E. should rethink their design choices for the future, at the very least.
So like this?

Simple, yet from when I had this, this was god damn useful unlike all the other weapons. Also it was one-handed staff.
Me personally I'm with the I hate all pug weapons camp but I must say all the people saying we need realistic weapons for this game I'm like huh? I'm a cat girl that can talk and walk upright. How is that realistic? The whole point of playing is to have fun in a fantasy world.
Any moderators listening? Lock this thread already.
It's bad enough that people complain about every detail in the game, but now we're having trollfests and flamewars because we don't all share the same taste for aesthetics... If you're not going to stop complaining, quit. If you're not going to quit, stop complaining.

A weapon from FF VII
This reminds me of a thread that was made when we got the video for Ifrit weapons; "OMG THAT BOW JUST TOO BIG /RAGEQUIT". Along came patch day and everyone forgot what they were protesting. Let's just skip a step, shut up, and prepare for killing Garuda.
I like all the weapons.
Of course I think the new crafted THM weapon is a bit to big. Maybe it would be look better if it is a bit smaller. The Garuda THM weapon is cool ^^
Primal weapons can still be oversized, I would say. But for crafted weapons it should be a bit smaller.
Here a nice picture from Tifa's weapons. Maybe SE could use them for future crafted
THM weapons ^^

While I initially wanted to gush about the awesome-looking THM weapon ('tis my main job), and poke fun a little bit about the glowing bricks that PUG got, a brief read through the first few pages diverted my attention to another issue. That is, why on earth are people so hostile towards anyone remotely critical of SE?
Reading this thread, it would appear as if half of the people on these forums want to hear nothing but praise for every small step SE takes with FFXIV. That anyone who voices a shred of displeasure over some (often serious) issue prior to the release of 2.0 (when all of these problems are supposed to magically vanish, hah) is just a useless crybaby who can never be happy with anything SE does.
Now to be fair, some people probably are just chronic whiners. That being said, voicing a legitimate complaint, even in somewhat over-the-top language, isn't grounds to piss yourselves and begin shouting down upon anyone who dares mention even a small complaint. SE isn't perfect, even the new development team. Are they an improvement over Tanaka? Sure, I think we can all agree on that. Does that mean the game is perfect, or that we should praise every step they take, even if it could have been done better? No, of course not. New content that's meh is new content that's meh, and no, we shouldn't be bloody happy with it if the additions suck.
TL;DR: You all come out of the woodwork to tell people to stop complaining because you're sick of hearing it on the forums. Well before you jump on your high horse, remember that many of us likely are sick of hearing everyone mindlessly praising SE's every move, too. Some of us aren't happy with the direction the game is moving in, and if you don't like it, either stay out of the discussion, or offer tangible counter-arguments or opinions rather than telling everyone to shut up and quit complaining.
I guess I'm in a bit of cognitive dissonance.
I really want an MMO that can make the realistic beautiful and fantastic. A low fantasy setting like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, but with actual color and with more magic.
But these items are so original and creatively designed that I find myself really liking them.
The game is moving towards a high fantasy setting. That's already been put in motion and they're only redesigning once. But I'm sad to be without a game in the style that I was pulled into when it began.
In a world full of WoW copies, Korean dreamscapes, and under-saturated attempts at gritty 'realism', It was so original to have a game heavy in fantasy, but with believable and practical equipment.
It's not enough to make me quit, but bittersweet all the same.
To be fair... I remember a dev post about how big the PGL weapons were....
And the post seemed to indicate the devs did this on purpose because larger weapons bring out the level of detail that was put into them and if they were smaller, you wouldn't be able to appreciate how detailed they really are...
My thing is... You guys sound like you have a problem with these new weapons... when the issue many seem to be having is the size of PGL weapons overall... which has NOTHING to do with Grand Company, Garuda or AF weapons... AT ALL
I cant find the post so if someone remembers where it is... or remembers it at all...
To be fair... I'd like it if all PGL weapons were a little more understated... but it doesn't make me angry that they are this big....
I Just wanted to make sure its the size that's bothering people and not the actual designs....
To be fair... it really does seem like it would be tough to consistently deliver original and unique looking hand to hand weapons
Hmm, if these items are crafted, would that mean that they are simply giving us high tier damage weapons that can have materia in them?
Also, noticed the new armor they are wearing... while a lot of it looks rehashed, I'm glad they are bringing something new out for us to see.
The Elder Monk just called. they want there Pole Weapons back.
Here is the thing I haven't seen anyone really talk about either... DARKSTEEL ORE....
I don't know about you guys... but I would LOVE some black crafted gear....
Tell that to the fine folks at Vera Bradley. But I guess one of their biggest sellers is just hideous, right?

No it dosn't.
Mario blocks are square and yellow/brown bricked.
This is rectangular and black metal with some sort of red energy inside it.
Even Mario couldn't break that.
...It is kinda hideous.
That pattern does NOT work with diamond stitching. Just saying.
