this is easily one of the bests posts ive ever seen on here. ty sir

Have they stated definitively yet if they will increase the drop rates or not?
I am guessing that they will increase the drops with 1.22-1.23 since there will be new content with horrible drop rates to keep you busy.
i like this question.
i'm sure there's a way somewhere that you could measure performance. i personally am not sure on how though. in a discussion about it with friends we once thought that for example you walk into the ifrit fight. you have a 50% chance of a totem.
now as the fight goes on and you deal damage or cure people pop your abilities etc that chance could slowly build up. but if you get caught in eruptions or cracks or die then it goes down. this though would only suceed in a whole lot of crying at all the whms cos i let you die and affected your chances. or something to that effect.
a much simpler solution though which some may gripe at but make stuff much harder and indrease its rewards. i'd quite happily do an ifrit fight thats 50% more difficult if in turn i got 50% more rewards or something to that effect. have maybe a bowl of embers extreme or something.
just a thought. but again i do think that is a great question
This is just bad news. Honestly those of us who don't have this fight down to a science, moogle or Ifrit, this just lowers the likely hood we will ever get an item. It's bad enough you can't pass along the item, so if you get the exact one you are currently using three times in a row eff you right? ah well what can we do, bitch moan and complain that is about it?
I have 5 nut charms guess if i wait then ill be half-way to my first moogly weapon, kupo! And it only took me 90 wins to get those 5 charms... yay!
Drop rates are fine it's just the massive waste that Dupe and useless items are. I understand they want the content to be relevant for a long time but this is just dragging it out for longer than it needs to be.
Hell I'd be for a lower drop rate if we could just PASS THE items we don't want or need!
While i do understand( to a degree) people's frustration with the Primal Loot system, theres never an excuse to be vulgar and rude to the Mods and or the Devs, thats just childish. ive seen way too much of that in these forums. nothing wrong with feeling strongly about an issue but we are adults here, right? calm down, stop hyper ventilating, then post
what is a fair # of kills before you get 1 weapon?
what is a fair # of kills before you get the weapon you want most?
what is a fair # of kills before you have all weapons?
as players should we even consider these questions from a DEV perspective? i wondr how far we really are in terms of % not perception and random equations (ie some have bad luck, some just cant be pleased)
To the DEVS- i do support a minor tweak to totem drops. Ifrit has been out long enough, its older content
Hmmm... Awful lot of people doing some ridiculous numbers.. 1/150 etc etc. I HIGHLY doubt the majority of you are even close to 150! Butter up some more why dont you ? I PROMISE you, if you spend time at ifrit you WILL get the drops. The drop rate is kinda shitty, agreed. But for those of you that only have 1 weapon, you don't even understand the real issue with those fights! DUPLICATES! You want to rage about something, rage about duplicates. If you CLEARED 100 runs, and you only got 1 drop 0 totems, go buy a lottery ticket. Seems we have a lot of super lucky people in here....
Doing the same fight over and over again is work. At work, I get paid by the hour. I know I'm going to make a certain amount by the end of the week and that's largely the reason why I do my job. I would not work for a randomly generated amount of money which is inclined to be low or nothing. I feel the same way about repeat boss encounters - I don't feel compelled to even try.
I mean, I did at first. But after about 20 runs and only seeing two totems drop (to other people), my interest quickly waned. SE, this is not a good model if you're just trying to stretch out content. All you're doing is making us just as bored as if there were nothing to do, and the rewards which supposedly keep us interested simply feel unobtainable.
I don't feel these rewards are something I can work towards, which is something people who are on a tight schedule need. If I spend a lot of time on something and make absolutely zero progress, square one, no better off whatsoever, I feel utterly ripped off because my time is neither free nor infinite. Not only that, but I'm actually paying to waste my time.
I have killed ifrit 0 times and got 0 drops and have 0 totems.
Still after Mog Blade. Hundreds of encounter. Not even 7/7. While some lucky bastards got all their weapons and Dark Light in 20ish runs ? Come on Square Enix. . . You can do better this, or we shall take out the torches and forks and chase you all!
Like others mentioned, the problem isn't drops, but the formula. Drops happen all the time, but RANDOM doesn't work. You form a party, organize it, hour later, do the fight, win, dead weights always are around, usually two, three, which is ok, they gotta learn too, goes and get full weapons or totems, and the other 5-6 that carried the fight and the dead weights on their backs gets the middle finger after the fight, makes you not wanting to do it again because of being so mad about wasted time, and Thats not funny!
Would it really be asking too much to raise the drop rate of the nuts/tokens? It seems pretty silly to fight these guys dozens of times only to get Dark Matter every. single. time.
Was somewhat excited about the idea of being able to turn in even less of the items I don't have for a weapon...now I just don't care. I've yet to see a totem/nut/weapon in the runs that I've done. It's quite discouraging.
You can only do so many runs before the fun/challenging primal fight turns into an annoyance that you simply don't want to have to deal with anymore.
I think they won't drop the requirement for ifrit weapons because that's like admitting the moogle ones are better...
but lets face it, they are. SE really screwed the pooch there.
There's no question totems and nuts should be 100% if they 10 per weapon. Shape up SE, crap like this has to be fixed before 2.0.
I agree with this, I haven't been bothering with Ifrit or Moogle since a few weeks after it was released, If I felt I was working towards something .. ie 10 kills = a weapon then that would be fine, but not knowing if I am going to be one of the unfortunate who spam it 100 times and still get no weapon.. yea I would rather not bother.
As someone above said I will go if my LS need an 8th person but that's about it.
Well played SE, Well played. Not sticking around then this is just the stupidest thing I have heard since tanaka has left and I'm telling my friends to stay away from this game like the plague after the e3 press conference. Voting with my dollar.
tl:dr version of this thread.
But still...
/fume
This is one of the few occasions that I am actually not angry at our reps. This sort of thing is not in their hands. The development team is a bunch of n00bs for this, though. To be honest, it should have never been considered to bring the required Totems down to 5 because Ifrit weapons are STILL basically BiS for group play. However, the fact that SE was dumb enough to even make that kind of announcement in the first place without completely considering everything is idiotic.
Don't shoot the messengers folks.
And don't shoot the sheriff either.
The deputy however...
I want to apologize in advance this post gets a little ranty.
I still say they Fubared the token system to start with.
They should have Done one of the following
Yanked the weapon drops all together and made it one token per weapon. With the tokens being as or more rare then the current weapons are.
Made it so weapons just go into the person loot list to be passed around.
Or made duplicate weapons go into said person loot list so it could be handed out via that kind of nifty /random that they put in.
Yea some Dicking over is going to happen. but it will be by the players. Not the game making you feel like an ass because you watched a weapon your friend really wanted hit the floor.
To which ever rep reads and bundles this sentiment up with the rest make this perfectly clear to who you report to.
You guys have let this Primal weapon crap drag on for far to long.
Get this sorted, quit poking the sore spots of what community this game has left. I swear to the flying spaghetti monster its two steps forward one step back most of the time with you guys.
Rare drops are all well and good. The problem starts popping up when there so rare that the related content has to be done so many times that it goes beyond being a chore.
Fun, Entertainment, Excitement You guys know how create this stuff, or at least synthesize something resembling it most of the time. You guys keep throwing hale mary passes you can even catch them most of the time, Then your running back trips over his own feet right at the damned goal line.
so....enma need to get lay and good job Antipika....now on to the next subject
Fine by me, thank the goddess Charms are still being reduced though. 20 is ridiculous.
Enjoy Garuda being 20 charms and this whole thing being stupid still.
Too bad FFXIV community fears a "FFXI-2", I mean I would hate:

It would be horrible if after you defeat a Primal you speak with an NPC for a choice of: Summoning them (if SMN exists), Gil, Item for a quest or the appropriate weapon/armor lol.
That would suck.
It's very simple. Just make the totems 100% , 10, you can exchange for a weapon of choice at Rowena. And. NO FULL DROPS. Is that hard SE? 70 ifrit runs and you get the set. Is that asking too much? To give 70 runs, one would have to farm ifrit for like 2-3 months if you have a job (RL).Putting together, the losses, time to form parties , etc. that's fair and that's how it should have been done.
They'd honestly have to add many more rewards, because there's very little reason to help others after you get your guaranteed drop after x amount of time. Which is why repeating in their other MMO had benefits back in the day, even if it was a quick 60k+ a day down the road, chances are you were helping newer players get their sought after items in the process.
Since honestly so far the only drops on Primals are the weapon and dark matter (in terms of tangible rewards.)
