I'm in the UK, it's 1:04am in the 13th July. They still have an entire day to change the deal to digital at the very least. I mean they did it with Amazon and the NA promo, they can do it here. No excuses.

They should do a campaign with big video games stores of each country in EU like micromania or gamestop etc. and ask to pay 1 FF game to get all codes or , 1 or 2 ff goodies . Well its a exemple. Im still waiting for france ..
It's easier for them not to reply and apologise after the event than to apologise during and be expected to do anything about it.
Nope, not happening. Consider this event boycotted Square Enix. I will not be humiliated for something that other parts of your player base acquired easier.
What should I do with the magazines after I buy them? Considering I'm paying £5 for an Ifrit mask with a free booklet of printed toilet paper..
This is just not going to happen. Why would I buy 3 magazines from a terrible company and then send a photo in. Also whats stopping me or others just going into the store, opening the magazine and writing the code down. I mean really who thought this was a good idea?
Yeah, I'm not doing this. Originally was hyped for this to finally come to the EU but now... just no.
I've never been annoyed at Square Enix before. But this promotion deal is firetrucking dumb.
I really wanted the maid outfit and I want to collect the mount. But now...

Yup the promotion campaign is pmuch a scam and an insult toward the eu community at this point, guess SE really hate us.
Also, good to see mods are deleting post. nice.
You think they'd just tie the deal in with their own store and kill two birds with one stone, I'd much rather buy a few plushies than some dead magazine..
Yea no I dont think so SE. I'll wait to see how its delivered to our friends on the continent and maybe get it then.
While I appreciate the effort that's been put in finding all of us down here in Europe a promotion deal, and I realize it is not easy with all the different countries, I really do think SE could have done much, much better than a long, expensive, restrictive, cumbersome, privacy-invading deal with a magazine that very few people read, published by a company that has a history of "suspicious" activity.
I will not be taking this deal, and I cannot recommend that anyone else does.
I will repeat my post in as nice a manner as I can considering my last post was deleted. The fact that this is down right a bad idea, lets focus on the fact that this company is extremely shady to say the least. You would have us submit pictures of ourselves (and in the case of players playing at the minimum age of 13 submitting pictures of minors) to a company that already has had a lawsuit put against them for violating the childrens online privacy policy act. I am sure you can understand why this is very concerning to say the least.
Looking at the tiny silver lining in this black cloud of terrible ideas, I'm at least happy that SE now acknowledge that Australia exists, and that Australians play FFXIV.
The only reason they haven't taken action about the "promotion" is because people are STILL buying into it! Regardless of how awful it is people are still blindly letting SE shaft them.
Steps on how to fix this SE:
1. End the promotion NOW
2. Request that people refund what they purchased, if a contract was made then you will have to supplement what was designed in the contract.
3. Put items on the mogstation so the community calms down.
4. Apologize.
5. (Optional but defiantly should be taken into consideration: Leak future class/patch information)
SE, you're only hurting yourself if you keep shafting EU players. We are a huge part of this game. Stop leaving us out.
It does and it's very unfortunate. My guess it's people who are tired of waiting to get these items, they don't care, or they don't understand that they are falling into a deep dark hole of regret.
Honestly I was very close to purchasing this promotion when it arrived I've been camping the lodestone & reddit for a very long time waiting for our turn, but after reading into it and knowing the company for what it is - it isn't worth it.
I wish that other people see and understand what they are promoting.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm tired and on painkillers.
This is horrible, I feel for the poor EU players. Why not just cash shop it by this point T_T They'd be making the same amount of money for better anyway.
It is 100% an option, not something you need to do... they've got other avenues planned for other countries which could be cheaper, easier and more accessible for others. This is the UK deal, so if you don't like it, wait.
Then why are you even commenting about it in the first place when it is an OPTION? Wait for the next promotions before you jump to conclusions? This thread is literally thousands of people just jumping to conclusion claiming it to be the end of the world when it isn't...
Then wait for another option... also I've lived in the UK for 3 years and only had 2 packages get lost in the post, so it's not as bad as you are stating it to be.
TL;DR: Stop jumping to conclusions and wait.
I've lived in the UK for 23 years. I have lived in the area for 23 years. I live in Scotland on a set of islands that is well known for having issues with postage delivery (we used to pay £10 postage when it was "free for uk delivery" until 2014) and did not get proper internet until 2009, we are getting fiber internet in around 2-3 years time. I, my parents and my family have ordered things in over 23 years and it has a pretty high chance of "going missing". We nailed it down to around 1 in 3 chance in a decade. Do not tell me that I'm not stating it as bad as it is. That is ignorant and rude.
They could of done a promo for one of there mobile games. Brave exvius came out recently and it has a cash shop, would of made more sense to link it to that than a magazine nobody wants or will struggle to get.
I'd love to participate in the promo if I could.
I guess it's weighing the cost & effort to participate against the reward.
I'm hoping the other countries' promos can have:
1) Broader range of products to purchase (instead of a single physical magazine title)
- Caters to different player needs better
2) Accessibility
- Enables more players to participate
3) Sufficient stock availability for demand (with regards to the player-base with EU accounts)
- Minimises disappointment for players able to participate
I think we all can (should?) recognise it's certainly not simple to meet all those ideally. It needs finding a partner with that kind of reach, product-range, supply and distribution platform.
In the end, it is what it is (for JP, NA and UK); and it'll be what it'll be (for upcoming countries). Nothing apocalyptic one way or the other. Just a sad or happy panda (i.e. me).
On a related note, it might be worth considering that Mogstation-ing the items directly may still not be on par with the JP and NA promos. It's buying items directly vs as a bonus for purchasing products. I understand it's ok for some and it won't be for others. But that's like describing practically every decision that impacts a not small population isn't it? :D
kinda curious if anyone knows how a "provider" gets the rights to the promotion? Clearly its not the same outlets by region so i am curious how they are chosen region by region? Guess what i mean is, did any other source within the UK just say "we don't want it"? >.> Guess im mostly curious cuz of the no man sky incident and that one company that wouldn't let them use the word "sky" lol, seems like a tough place to do business with.
I agree with the point that the Promotion is a huge screw up. The wait time as well as the company are just horrendrous and nobody wants to go through all of this. Hell, I live in Austria and never even heard of the Magazine or the company before. Researching their stuff brings up some really shady things.
That note aside, can people please learn the difference between EU as in Europe and EU as in European Union? The amounts of "lol UK doesn't even belong to EU hurr durr" in this thread is ridiculous
Added a summary of the complaints regarding the campaign. Please tell me if I have missed anything.
Think at this point best SE can try to do is "stop" the UK promotion and wait till there is a better "option", idk what that would mean legally though and would prolly make the UK the last place to get the items since i am guessing other regions are already in the works.
For EU account holders living outside of the UK, this is an absolute nightmare to participate in.
Not only do we have to pay for the magazines that (most of us) don't even want, but also have to pay for shipping, wait for said shipping, and physically own the items needed in order to take a photo. By far the most expensive and worst campaign out of all regions.
Luckily, it's only optional. However, if this is the kind of road the EU division will keep taking, they will never get my "optional" business.
As someone stuck with an EU account after moving to Japan, I'm really sad that the European campaign is so much worse than the Japanese and European ones. I didn't even know that the magazine in question existed and have no interest in buying it.
Glad I'm not the only one who finds the idea of an unknown publication requesting a selfie for game codes invasive and borderline creepy. Why not just stick the same deal the US had on UK Amazon?
Yeah the promotion over here was to buy 28 bottles of certain drinks, each being counted as one point towards a 28 total needed for the grand prize (dammit, I want the chocobo mount!). I don't shop much at 7/11, but if they are at all like the other convenience stores then the price would probably be around 120 yen, putting the total close to 3400 yen. Of course, you could directly convert this amount into $, € or £ and get 32.60, 29.50 and 24.50 for those currencies respectively, but that is highly dependent on exchange rates, and as we have seen since the Brexit these can worsen quite rapidly. In any case the price between regions is, on the whole, comparable. The difference is in the utility of whatever this money is being spent on. Most useful was probably the US promotion, as you had a wide range of choice of what to spend $20 on to get the codes. Next the Japanese promotion, as drinks are generally a useful product, even if the choice of drinks is limited to around 10 different ones, and 7/11s are prolific in most of the country. And then we have this promotion which isn't the best. Especially for me, as I shall have to get the magazines delivered to Japan for extra expense. Just hoping there aren't any import duties to ramp up the cost even further, but as it will be below 10000 yen I think I won't have to pay anything (*fingers crossed*). It's a shame the codes were region locked else I could have just joined in with the 7/11 promotion and had the items ages ago XD.
Mostly because Amazon truly messed that promotion up. Between the unclear requirements and there was the fact you could cancel items and still get the codes. People weren't happy about the latter and did a lot of complaining, but regardless, the NA promotion wasn't even half as mind boggling as the EU one.
I was wondering about it and I saw this, hopefully what is planned is more reasonable :).Quote:
Note: Separate campaigns offering the same in-game items are currently being planned for those residing in: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Nordic territories. Further details on these campaigns will be posted at a later date.
As a NA player..... that has the mount and many EU friends, this is disgusting. It is such a weird way to acquire the mount. Sheesh, SE.... what were you thinking?
