And that's why we'll probably never get complex dungeons or the like. Everyone wants to do things as fast as possible and will take the shortest route to get there, which is why a lot of people hate the newer dungeons having speed bumps.
Flying
3 new classes
max level increase with everything that comes with that.
red scrips
blue scrips
aetherial nodes
legendary nodes
Seal Rock
new pvp levels, gear, skills.
Master crafting III books
A/S/B ranks with ranks 1, 2 ,3, hunting
Large scale leves
Ishgard and all the new zones
20 new triple-triad cards and another rank i believe (can use 4, 4 star cards)
what else? I'm sure i'm missing some things.
I know theres still a few having fun but on my legacy server more and more of my friends have left or gotten bored to the point of only doing eso, sometimes not even that. I take things slowly I don't rush because I know patches/expansions are never as big as people seem to think they will be. However I am also growing bored even going slowly. It's not a issue there is no content but that it follows too closely to the -same- content every time. New dungeon new law/eso/tomestone, new primal, new coil. By doing what worked to remain safe they are essentially boring the people by just doing the same game plan over and over with small adds(flying) Scrips though seemingly broken according to other posts and reads are a small step in a different direction(though still very tomestone like) but a bit closer to FFXI Daily guild items for cool things/ability's. Now I'm not saying This is a bad game by any stretch, I'm saying by doing whats safe because it worked once isn't listening to the people(as said in the AWESOME new event rising) and doing what's safe which is essentially boring the mass(myself included) Though I am personally enjoying the game -hate hate HATE- the dungeons and the fact I'm forced to dungeon to get things done. Ok there's pvp or aloootttt of alex normal you can do to avoid redoing the same two dungeons over and over but very slowly. Now I know people are gonna hate this once upon a time I agreed I didn't want a FFXI-2 but the more were going down the road in this game the more I want to change my statement to a "I very much want FFXI-2 with a bit more casual friendly atmosphere then xi did pre abyssea". I spent 9+ years there and never ever got half as bored with the way of things as I do here. I think that's what a lot of people are complaining about.
(though these opinions are my own I just want to quickly point out to those checking lodestone profiles to say "Hey! you barely touched things how do you know!" I actually play three different characters and know of what I speak, thank you.)
Here's a good reason to fly you don't have to worry about every mob hurling "heavy" poo at you when passing by. Just saying that in it self is the best reason to fly. Heavy is so annoying especially when you are trying to get to a mnr/btn node that is about to time out... I really hope they put flying in the ARR zones in a later patch.
Because if someone who doesn't have the time to play, for A or B reason din't play for say 3 weeks, they fell behind the rest of the players on a weekly cap wall trying to catch up, they will be unable to catch up as fast because they are behind a 450 weekly cap, and will probably not be able to get a static or group to progress, anyone who is trying to progress through savage and din't get to clear up one area for a week, they are also falling behind in progress due the weekly cooldown and will not get a gordian page.
You speak like the bolded things don't sound more like a free patch than an expansion or like some are even relevant or aren't forgotten, some are not even really used like at all like "Large Scale Leve battles", the scripts the currently most hated new thing for crafters since Heavensward, and another reharshed terribly done mechanic that the majority of the population have been complaining in the way it's been executed which is hunts. If the non bolded parts weren't there I would almost trully think this is just patch.
Players who don't meet the weekly cap are permanently behind players that do meet the cap in terms of gear progression. It's not really a reason for rushing dungeons more so than a reason for running dungeons too much, which in turn makes people want to rush them to get through the weekly slog faster.
Even if they wait for the next patch that removes the cap, they will end up spending more time running dungeons than those who already have the old set because they would have to pick up the old set from older content, possibly putting them behind on whatever the new weekly currency is.
I think the player reaction generally shows people like the Heavensward story, but not the underlying dungeons. The Aery, for instance, is designed with the same kind of thinking as Neverreap and Fractal. The one thing the Aery had that the later two do not is that it is a story set piece. When I was tanking, I became pretty annoyed at rerunning the Aery for a vanity set just as much as I was annoyed at running Neverreap and Fractal as a monk.
I can't think of a single memorable experience (in terms of combat) from a single one of FFXIV's dungeons. In contrast, I can still recall running various dungeons in WoW, FFXI (open world), and The Secret World. It's as much a problem of the one-shoe-fits-all combat leading every battle to play the same way as it is the dungeons being one long hallway. Every group of enemies is virtually the same kind of threat we faced in the dungeons that came before. If the experience of running the dungeon isn't worth it, the only things left are the gear drops and tomes.
I see, so people who are trying to keep up with the Jones have to rush to keep up with highly subjective and utterly baseless measures of progress?
All I can say is that this is yet anorher self inflicted wound. Ever since I stepped off the gear grind treadmill I have enjoyed the game far more. Perhap you should all do likewise. Chasing such imaginary progress targets is like chasing the wind.
Again, what are you to do besides this "gear threadmill" when the game is build around it with it's ilvl and quickly releasing and dumping equipment so fast, redo the content that no one is doing? level all the jobs to 60?, run Bismark and Ravana that also barely anyone is doing? the chore that has also become crafting? farm glamours?
White knights in this thread are the reason why Square Enix gets away with releasing bad content. I love Square Enix and I love Final Fantasy 14, but come on, they are getting away with releasing really terrible and repetitive content. Where are the open world dungeons? How about updating the map to make it seem like the world is seamless? Airships aren't even real airships in this game because you can't fly all over the world without being instanced. There's really no point to explore the world in this game.
Oh please. "what are you to do?" I guess if you pretend that the only part of the game that exists is top tier end game, but then that is in truth a small fraction of the game. If YOU choose to limit YOUR focus and scope in the game to 5% of the game, then YOU have done this to YOURSELF, hence a self inflicted wound.
If you aren't here for epic boss fights, having fun with people trying to beat these epic fights and get gear to become stronger to try beat more difficult meanie bosses, why are you playing an FF game then?! Gear is important in an RPG. Also, what Evtrai said.
If I wanted a dress up game I'd have gone play another game! I've also done housing, do gathering and crafting. Guess what, it's not fun for everyone. I certainly don't limit my focus yet I too agree with the posters you disagree with. There is NOT enough worthwile content in the game to do and when we try to (primals) there is not enough interest because guess wut, gear got oudated in less than what a fly can fly and apparently not many people are interested in vanity stuff enough to do it. Ohhhhhhh.
Oh those are the worst. >:( I feel korean mmos have a lot potential but they completely get ruined with that F2P model.

crafting (for what?)
Gathering (tedious and runs out fast cause crafts takes 5 mats per of same type, for example mythrite nugget)
Leveling and playing your other classes/jobs (no point to play more than 1 dow/dom class if you are trying to be great at once and master the rotation for crap like Alex Savage)
Sightseeing log (can easily be done in a few days)
Gold saucer (no prizes that are valuable or worth getting)
Collect every minion (this isn't pokemon)
Collect all mounts (no point when you can't even have your chocobo out at the same time as your mount)
Perfect your glamour (looks can only take you so far)
House purchase and decor (impossible to purchase a house because none are available. Housing is instanced, defeats the purpose of housing)
beast tribe quests (pointless, does not add to end-game progression)
Hunts (do it for a week and you don't ever have to do it again)
Become rich (why? so I don't have to do #1 and #2 on your list?
Craft and pentameld the ultimate craftable gear (they aren't needed to do the highest craft so why?)
Max out your relics (the glamour doesn't look as good as the hive weapons for my class so why?)
Teach others (hard to do when everything is instanced and you barely get to interact with the rest of the server)
Mentor (not many new players to mentor. newbie zones are dead)
Make new friends (instances and stuff that requires static parties prevents this)
Talk to folks (again, instances limit this)
Treasure Maps (RNG)
Seasonal events (Finish in less than an hour)
Chocobo breeding/racing (gold saucer, pointless)
Train your chocobo to lvl 20 (why?)
You forgot to add taking the mount out for a walk/fly across those beautifully well crafted, barren and deserted areas

Otherwise, they'll get bored just like us.
Where's the midcore content. SE catered to the causal and hardcore market but just forgets alot of people are midcore.
crafting (a grind that a HUGE portion of the game dose not like)
Gathering (things gathered tend to be pointless and extremely tiering, everything that can be gathered takes specific timing and oh hey you tried once come back tomorrow)
Leveling and playing your other classes/jobs (if your trying to learn a class once you have a healer tank or DPS that you like playing maxed out and you want to play the end game content then there is no real reason to level the other classes lets not forget as well no-one does half the available fates so you can't beat it and level 50 dungeons give no EXP making it far more tedious, even then not everyone likes playing every class)
Sightseeing log (done very quickly.)
Gold saucer (once you have the Fenrir or turtle if you even wanted them, you have nothing here.)
Collect every minion (minions currently offer no value besides looks, and on the most part useless, there is also no reward for collecting minions)
Collect all mounts (most mounts are recolours, or most people have there chocobo out and can't use them.)
Perfect your glamour (glamour is expensive and the -in- looks will change with the next patch, and a lot of people do not care for glamours.)
House purchase and decor (on nearly EVERY SERVER you cannot buy a house)
beast tribe quests (done once and then completed)
Hunts (do it for a week or two and DONE)
Become rich (pointless, if you become 'rich' then you want for nothing this then trivialises saving gil to get something you wanted, but also means you won't wish to do anything else because you have the gil.)
Craft and pentameld the ultimate cartable gear (gear that is outgeared by endgame content and will be even more outdated with the next patch plus lets not forget the PURE RNG THAT DESTROYS THE MATERIA)
Max out your relics (once done theres no point also MOST stages of relic look identical and again not meny care for looks)
Teach others (no mentor system in this game and most 'newbie players' do not wish to be taught they wish to learn themselves or by there friends)
Mentor (look at above)
Make new friends (instanced servers make this difficult, and most people stick with there FC's it is extremely difficult to make friends in this game because everyone either can't here you or thinks your spamming the chat unless it's a rp server)
Talk to folks (most people put you on black list if you fill the chat log or ignore you)
Treasure Maps (pure RNG for items that do nothing.)
Seasonal events (done in ONE hour or less or your money back)
Chocobo breeding/racing (no point once you are higher up you will beat all NPC racers and not meny people do this so you will rarely play against a player meaning it is not fun)
Train your chocobo to lvl 20 (done once and never again and for 3 glamour on your chocobo that most do not notice use or like :D)
beat me to it XD i went to the loo finished this and your post was above XD
Depending on your perspective, we sort of lost a class of raid content when they added it. Alexander Savage is currently tuned like SCOB Savage (which was a tier above regular Coil), but Normal isn't tuned anywhere near the difficulty level of the old Coil raids. Players for whom Savage wasn't appealing but still wanted solid raiding content are sorta stuck in the middle now. Normal is pretty easy and the rewards are stop-gaps, and the Coil-equivalent gear is now locked behind the equivalent of the old "best of the best" tier, rather than the "standard" raid.
I was really happy when they announced Alexander Normal originally, as I enjoy raiding but don't necessarily like raiding on the cutting edge of things. Normal is essentially filler content for me--I do it every week just to gear alt jobs, but not actually because I want to. It's far too easy and the rewards aren't inspiring at all. It feels like CT version 2 (and it's going to be dead when we get the new 24-man content soon). I really wish they had given us three tiers.
If you dislike the game so much, why do you play? Seriously, your post demonstrates nothing more than you have a very narrow focus, and empasizes the self inflicted nature of the problem.
You know, base on the replies I see, I honestly have to ask, why don't all of you go play something else? SE will *never* change the game to match your expectations, so rather than hanging around and being oointlessly negative and bitter, why not play something more suited to your...needs?
If that many people stop, leaving the hardcore rump, and small minority of the current base, the game will be dead on its feet. The biggest issue this game faces is the negative whiny voices complaining that everything is faceroll easy (now that the outgear everything but Alex Savage), or crying in their cornflakes that HW didn't bring enough raid content.
What you fail to understand is that people who are bored of the game actually like the game. They just want more to do. 50% of the things you mentioned in the your previous post are activities, not content. Playing Frisbee with the install CD isn't content, its a platform to do another activity, Just like how talking to people and mentoring people isn't content it's just a platform to do a thing. The people who play this game and want more content to play just want to play the game. And while you argue that there is still a lot of stuff we CAN do, there isn't a lot of relevant stuff to do. Sure I can level all my jobs to 60. but if end game is the only relevant thing (even if you limit it to combat interests, which leveling all your jobs imply) then you can't even do end game because of the esoteric cap.
On top of all of that the only people I see defending this game is this aspect are people who haven't done any real endgame. If that is the case then how can we consider you opinions valuable? how can we pretend like content you still have to do is relevant to us? The bottom line is the only thing I can do to progress my character in this game is to run one of the two dungeons 4-5 days a week and practice alex when my static is a available (which is about three different fights total a week until a patch). Naturally anyone who wants to progress at the cutting edge of end-game is going to have more time on their hands, so why not cater to them when the people who have less time on their hands still have content to do? why limit content to those who want to put in more time while giving additional content to those who still feel they have a lot to do?
I mean, I only make these arguments because I like this game. I want to play this game. And adding more endgame content gives something for everyone to do, and because by the precedent set by coil it will likely become relevant to even casual players at a certain point. I just don't understand why people are arguing against more content that will satisfy everyone. The only reason is that maybe they'll hit end-game at some point and hove nothing but more hardcore content to do... which at that point you could take your own advice and take a break. Or talk to people. Or mentor. Or literally any other thing you listed in your previous post.
I actually bought the digital version of the game. I paid for my game and sub time just like you, how come I don't have access to all the content like you do?! Even though I bought the digital version I should still be able to play the install CD frisbee. WHY DOESN'T SE CATER TO ME?!
Why do I need to have done any end game for my opinions about everything else in the game to matter? You're telling me that the person who plays a minority of the game and complains about end game has a more valid opinion about the game in general, than someone who plays a far wider range of content? Next you'll be calling me entitled... :rolls eyes:
This topic is a great illustration of the gaping chasm that exists between raiders and *everyone* else.
I've not argued against adding content. What I have taken issue with is people who whine about being burned out because the farmed the crap out of the easy mode raid before trying the hard version, or people whining about having nothing to do when they admit their focus is narrow, or claim there is nothing new when in fact they are only talking about raid content...etc... As for taking my own advice, I wouldn't have suggested it if I was unwilling to do as I say. Believe it or not, some people enjoy helping others and just running stuff for fun,and not because its hard enough to nake you want to hurt yourself. There is enough open ended content in this game such that even if I never set foot in an un-nerfed raid, I will always have something to do.
well right now we have
1- primal fight of any value
1- 8 man that is just super tedious and way too easy
1- 8 man that is super tedious and way too hard for the vast majority of the population
2- 4 man dungeons that are cool but you can only do the same thing so many times in a row before it gets boring/tedious
and scrip grinding which is absolutely horrible
we lost a lot of fun things that didn't translate to the new 60 cap as well
It is just a learning transition phase but it's tough to deal with atm
You still don't get the point of this entire thread and you are as clueless as ever, reason why no one takes you seriously. We DON'T HATE the game, otherwise we wouldn't be here voicing our opinions. You still haven't made any single valid statement of all the blargon you parrot and you adamantly defend. We do have the right to voice our discontent simply because we pay for playing this game, (it's not F2P you know), like any other service or product.
We value what the game has offered us but, it's time for the formula to be changed. We just want it to be improved and hope for it to take a different direction than just going up and down, which has been the same ride from 2.0 and how long has it been? 2 years already. The foundation has been laid, a lot of us stood and bear with it and the promise of new changes are nowhere to be found. Sadly, if a restaurant offers you the same hamburger with no extra ingredient or variant guess what happens? You will like it for a time but then eventually you will get bored of the same flavor/taste in your mouth if you eat it everyday.
If what's being discussed here is mainly about endgame and you have no experience on it, I have no idea what you are so diligently defending when YOU haven't experienced END GAME CONTENT.Quote:

I've said, and will say again, that players with a narrow focus have no one to bame but themself when they burn out.
Plenty of people take me seriously, not in this topic thogh, although that may be because this topic has drawn dis-satisfied raiders like moths to a flame. The point of this entire topic was made in the opening post, and has since morphed into something far more focysed on end-game, not simply Heavensward.
As for clueles, I'd have said that those repeating the same action over and over, and expecting a different result are being pretty clueless, not thatyou'llagreeof course.
3.1 can't come soon enough
That's your opinion, which your free to express, you're wrong, but whatever. Oh, and take your trolling accusation and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Fell free to disagree with my opinion, but resorting to calling Me a troll is nothing more than an ad hominem remark, and as such, I'm done replying to you.
