Actually I just realised, will we be able to turn 'Dated' gear into materia like other gearo or are they not being given this option?
From what I understood, the only recipes that will overlap are the ones in which one of the ingredients is being removed.
What's happening with jewellery if nuggets are being removed? I don't see new recipes for rings and earrings.
Not sure of this has been mentioned before but here goes.
SE's "metal" recipes are listed from low to high like this:
Bronze
Iron
Steel
Mythril
Cobalt
Ok, with that since we already know that it goes Bronze > Iron > Steel, then we can assume that Mythril comes after Steel and Cobalt comes after Mythril, making Cobalt the highest grade metal available. (or so I'll assume for now).
In the new recipes they have Steel Celata and Cobalt Celata.
If Bronze Celata is R38, Iron is 48 we can assume that Steel will be R58 and Cobalt should be 68 (since there is no mythril, I'm putting Cobalt in its place)
Another example:
Coper Barbut: R13
Bronze Barbut: R23
Iron Barbut: R33
Visored Barbut: R43
Steel, Mythril AND Cobalt Barbuts are in the new recipes, so where will they go?
If we use the assumption made earlier wouldn't it be
Steel Barbut: 53
Mythril Barbut: 63
Cobalt Barbut: 73
I find this interesting, since can easily just make them all under R50 but limit them to certain classes and ranks like for example a Cobalt Barbut will only be wearable by GLA R50.
has there been a level cap increase notice? or will they fit the new mats between currently existing ones?
Pardon me if this has been already addressed.
Well either they mention items that are currently unmakeable, but will one day be, which is possible. Or it means they are throwinging away a level cap increase for the forseeable future, and have decided to make what was once planned to be higher level gear, into max level gear.
essentially turning higher level gear into lower level gear because they kept us at cap way longer than they initially planned, and are not intending a cap raise, but want to use some of the gear they had already designed long ago so it doesnt seem like we arent getting any variety in gear
I tend to beleive the latter, because they are designing an increasing amount of content with a level 50 cap in mind. They are calling a lot of things endgame activities now. They are going to have more people investing in level cap gear with materia, looks like some skills that were supposed to be for higher level classes will probably become job skills (like the bard spells/effects already in the dats)
I think overall its a sign that they are probably going to hold on to this cap for awhile, at the very least till ps3 release, which is probably a good 9 months away at least.
There's been no mention of grade 6 gathering nodes and the fact you can get cobalt in current grades is enough to suggest the level cap isn't going up and that higher rank gear has been lowered. Will be interesting to see how they handle it to prevent gear becoming obsolete as soon as it's added.
I'm thinking the grade 6 dark matter is probably to repair the Ifrit gear.
I'm thinking the level cap won't raise untill patch 1.21 with the implimentation of jobs, just to stop players being maxed out at their job the moment they get them.
Level cap probably wont be raised then either. No one will be maxed out in a job the moment they get them anyways, there are quests you have to do to obtain higher abilities for that job. Just gonna be a bunch of weak ass L50 jobbers runnin around til they complete the quests.
That is a good point about the cobolt being obtainable from grade 5 nodes!
Also, we should keep in mind that if canvas is being phased out as it appears to be (??), then some other material will have to be used for all that R20-ish gear, which would suggest that they may be shuffling around what materials are used for each rank range.
Which is basically what we have been told on the rare occasion we ever get a response since launch. "Eventually" or "Future Patches". I understand there is a ton to do. But getting a class brought up to par with other classes in its archetype should have been a larger priority. But whatever at this point. At least I am getting a chocobo, should make gathering the 3 billion ingredients I need to make the food no one ever buys easier at least.Quote:
There will be no recipe changes for alchemists and culinarians in patch 1.19.
Recipe changes for alchemists and culinarians will be implemented in future patches.
For the blacksmith, the recipe for 3 cobalt ingots is: 6 cobalt ore and 2 iron ore.
For armorer, the recipe for 3 cobalt ingots is: 7 cobalt ore and 1 iron ore.
Was that on purpose?
they should have replaced canvas with burlap

I actually like the bubblegum pink, but the shade of pink that linen used is quite nice and much more subtle! It is just a rare sight since it was only used for one not-the best R50 DoL/DoH gear set. >.<
Canvas is a lousy thing to make clothes out of though, unless we're talking sneakers. xD Then again, felt seems rather strange as well . . . but such is the nature of a game I suppose. :)
atm iam more worried about the QA,then anything
it looks like beta -> release, all over again, this change is overpushed, and not beeing talked to us first.
best example , ether, they didnt even notice ,that they remove the resources for ether.
there are way more items of that kind, where it doesnt fit, and if mobs dont drop it anymore,it would be no help,if alches still could use the old recipes..
simple said, they found one item, but if not pointed to,they miss many otherQuote:
エーテルが作成できなくなってしまう件について、開発チームに報告しました。
プークの翼については、1.19に間に合うよう早急にドロップしなくなるアイテムから、
除外するよう対応を行いますとのことです。ご報告ありがとうございました。
I have reported the above to the dev team.
For Puk Wings they will make quick change so item is removed from the list of items that will be removed to make it with 1.19 patch. Thank you for reporting.
this patch wont be helpful, but hey... they have to stick on time, instead of thinking all thru, right?
I posted this on another thread briefly, but I will reiterate here. These changes seem a bit odd to me. First and foremost they are not updating/adding new recipes to alchemy and culinary at the same time as these said changes are beginning to take place. Ontop of that, it appears several items from alchemy are becoming...obsolete?
In the list of items now being used in new recipes, several items are not going to be used. Dyes of course, but also things like horns, scales, wings, glues etc. To compound the issue, these items also won't be dropping from mobs either. Then you also will not be able to use powders, stainsands, salts, fine sands, etc.
What exactly will alchemists be making to rank up? Also, they are drastically lowering the prices of foods from the npcs. To the point they may or may not rival the prices in the marketplace itself. Disappointment aside that they aren't doing these classes recipe changes yet, they both will also have no hand in the materia process.
I'm just really confused why these two classes continue to get the short end of the stick here. Will meager food sales and shards really be equivalent to the tons of gear and such that will be coming along the way? With the materia system also coming, weapon sales and so on will also be going up I would imagine.
I guess I'm just not sure how to think of this all. I thought alot of the recipe changes were going to be based more on these classes due to the difficulty / item demand to level them. Was it just so complex that they had to put it off?
I'm assuming Alchemy and Cooking will need more work to figure out. He did say the changes would come to those 2 jobs - they just need more time (although I wish it was in this update too).
And they're clearly trying to make 'grinding' prohibitively expensive or bridge synths difficult to find which may mean dedicating your leves to a craft. I was making 25k per leve reset doing as many bsm leves as I could for r48-50 (bout 5-8 leves)
Have they said anything about market wards? I mean with all the items being obsoleted it'd be nice for the wards to have a different colored text for the items that are being phased out (like red colored font or something).
So, what about Black Pearl items? Blacklip Oyster is listed as one of the items no longer used in any new recipes. Without the Oyster you can't get the pearl and thus without the pearl the Black Pearl items can't be made. Unless the Black Pearls are just going to drop like the Uncultured ones do.
I'm actually Glad they are not doing ALC in this patch. These changes are going to be devastating to crafters and ALC is my main. They need to put in a lot of work to ensure Potions, Ethers and Poisons are actually useful. It's not like there recipes were unreasonable. The biggest fix alchemy needs is an XP overhaul. Most things simple enough to grind gave very little XP for most of the grind. And turning Fish to sand is not exactly awesome..
i dont want to live on this planet anymore.
oh, cool beans then
Good job on acting swiftly based on the feedback, responding to the community and best of all, posting the translation of Yoshida's post so fast.
Thanks Bayohne for fast turnaround :-)
*lurking around for Grand Company Ifrit question mwee hee hee hee whoops laughing goes outside of emote*
Mwee hee heee haa~
Ah made another thread for this. WHY wasn't this listed in the patch notes? Seriously. Also this doesn't make any sense. The two crafting classes I like the most are getting totally screwed here. Won't be able to materia craft, won't be able to make repairs (although EVERY other crafting class can make "any" repair?!? Wtf. If a clothcrafter can fix a spear, why can't an alchemist fix a dagger - since we like, make them).
Ugh. So disgusted.
Damn, I tossed all of those items out already :(
I just wonder what it is I am supposed to use to level with...
They just posted in the topics on the JP side which items taken away from 1.19 but planning to be used in the future.
I think NA side posted this info also just now.

Buffalo leather in a new recipe?!Quote:

All-purpose Black Dye
Buffalo Leather is listed in the "Items not Used in New Recipes " !!
Yeah it is messed up.
Please folks, even if you are not an alchemist, please support my thread looking for dev response on what we can expect with patch. I am really concerned I won't be able to effectively play my favorite job for months if they don't sort this out. I am still not sure if they are removing all those items from the game (black scorpions etc) before adding anything to replace them. If that is the case, a lot of stuff will simply not be able to be made after this patch... with no recipes to replace them.
I am also getting the sense that Alchemists will lose the dye recipes. What exactly will we be making for people if we can't make potions, remedies, dye or ANYTHING?
Oddities (as requested by Bayohne)
-How can we make paralyzing potions without paralyzing powder, black scorpions or jellyfish cnida? Are you simply removing this item? Same question for all offensive potions and remedies - I see belladonna is remaining - but seems like everything else is being removed.
-What are alchemists supposed to do between 1.19 and 1.20?
-Are dyes being taken from alchemists? Will they be sold by npcs? If not, why not give us the recipe for them?

Do you think this is reasonable? What will alchemists have left to do? Are we supposed to just grind fish for months?
