What about Chocobo raising slots for Chocobo Racing? What about Triple Triad cards? I will be very surprised if those don't cost real-money. Do you not have a problem with those because they're not combat related?

Kinda weird You access servers and play games in a F2P MMO and that is free of charge (naturally to make money they have a cash shop). When a P2P game 8-15 bucks a month depending on your plan/legacy uses a cash shop that's completely fine, knowing what F2P games do, it makes F2P games look better if you are comparing models. The more they add to the cash shop the more I will respect F2P despite me never playing them as at least their game is F2P and not charging a Fee to use their severs, heck even some F2P games have decent servers to play on. That is just me though.
PS: No SE, I don't want you to go F2P, I just hope you stop this Cash shop thing before it gets out of hand. Stay Strictly P2P /no cash shop like most of us like. The main reason why most are hear is because there isn't a cash shop.
i feel the same, but i wait to see the 2.5... if what we expect happend, loving this game or not i will be out. it sad because i did advice a lot of my friend to play it. but i feel soo bad when i see this sort of move from SE.
physical goodie have no impact on the game, instead to do digital goodie, why not allows us to have the rest of the goodie they sell in japan.
another point, the two seat chocobo can be an advantage while playing in duo... but well... it's not pay 2 win... *sighs*
If the binding coil of bahamut and CT/ST cost money to get in, would you spend the extra cash, or complain about it being ACTUAL GATED CONTENT? I mean, what if there wasn't a free version where everyone could get in without paying?
Obviously those things aren't "content" to you guys, and progression is in the form of vanity items and one time things.
It cost real money to marry some1 in just a virtual game? wow....
Im so disappointed I dont know what to say...
Do you boo.
There shouldn't be any cost at all, no "Gold/Platinum" Nonsense, unless it's related to spending gil, we shouldn't be charged for a feature in the game. All Nook and crannies should be apart of the celebration for free ( Only spend gil in-game to make the wedding into a big bang).
Cool! I've never heard of the game. Nice way to come up with a name though. All I have is Zoot Zoot. I got it from the Muppets, the saxophone player. I played the saxophone. For this game I couldn't think of a last name to go with Zoot, especially since my name in FFXI was just Zoot :)
Well, to be fair the Star-Lord Marvel character has existed since 1976, so I think that incarnation has a few years on you ;)
But yes, most people didn't know the character until this year because of the movie, which was awesome.
Difference being that F2P tend to lock key game progression behind cash shop. Let's take Grand Chase, for example. You get 4 free character slots, and have to pay to unlock any subsequent character after that. you have to pay to unlock skill trees for the characters, pay to be able to upgrade your armor.
Don't like that example? How about this one:
Grand Fantasia. Inventory expansion, items to increase the success of your crafting/upgrading, all vanity options, pets.
There is a world of difference between optional cosmetic options and a F2P's MMO's cash shop locking QoL and inventory space behind their cash shops.
I don't wanna go off tangent this thread is on but just gotta comment on this. Grand Chase originally wasn't like that. It became like that because the developer killed off 90% of the global player base with bad patches and still wanted to milk the game for all it was worth.
Putting a Big feature like Marriage behind a paywall isn't what I call Cosmetic. Please don't give me the "it's free" deal because they are most likely putting the biggest things that every couple in-game would probably want behind a paywall. When it should be in game. Minions? Fine Holiday items? sure Mounts? pushing it a little A Big feature like Marriage.. That's where I cross the line.
Tried reading the entire thread. Felt like I was trapped chasing Zeno's turtle and thus skipped... well most of it. Has the information changed? Do we now need to pay to be married? 'Cause when I started readig this thread, we only needed to pay extra to get a mount, a nicer dress, a cake and such.
If things haven't changed, then I'm more upset that they waited so long to tell us on such short notice that they'd have the gold version and whatnot than I am about them charging for it to begin with, though that is just from info I learned reading today. Also that I probably need to be Eternally Bonded at all to get the wedding dress, since I'd rather remain unattatched, but that's my crazy flaring up,
What he said. This QQ about eternal bond is pointless. It is free and available for everyone. Only if you want the extra features like the mount should you be asked to make cash payment.
Unless materia melding rate buff is incorporated into cash shop system, I will stay content.
Thrice damned QQers took Windup Nanamo from cash shop to sub exclusive. I am very sore.
Just throwing this out there but has it even been CONFIRMED that the premium will cost real money?
The dangerous aspect to theory craft is usually the overgrown expectation. When the details for the Eternal Bond are finalized in stone, we are going to find even more excuses to bash every end of it, but then we forget the stupidity of doing so before. What makes an idea terrible should not be the failed expectations, but the execution and the recovery. If an idea is bad, we will know why once it is shown for what it is, so instead of assuming the worst with something to vague to measure, accept anything is possible and wait for evidence before destroying what could be perfect for someone else. Fear mongering never helped with 1.0 and honestly did not help with housing. You only have yourself to blame when you push the stretch of awful potential so far the final product is unenjoyable even if the product is spectacular. Just think clearly for once preserve the criticism for the test drive.
Why not wait for the facts on Eternal Bonding by thinking of possible ideas for it instead of focusing on the negative what-ifs? One thing I never could stop wondering about was how divorce would be implemented. I would love to see how this game could handle divorce, which is pretty taboo in most cultures. In regard to the real money assumption, why not consider the store could be building up the applications as a form of phase shifting in game. They have done it before more times then I can count and it would be pretty easy to adjust the character data enough to promote the need of in game currency to pay for the respected tiers of marriage. The technology is there!
The Eternal Bond still provides these two aspects regardless of what happens: the ceremony is providing the chance for two people to share their eternal bond with one another and the proof of their bond is presented in the free version of this service. If someone is honestly annoyed enough to say the service is useless because of a few in-game items, I would like to question their reasons for doing the ceremony in the first place. Is the measure of your bond melted in material belongs and flashy add-ons to inform others of your "supposed bond" or are you truly a couple that can see past the gimmicks to embrace the sacred bond on a personal level? For the game to offer the ceremony free of charge provides the original content with all the meaning in tact. If you really want the items, then pay for them. Honestly, whatever the turn out is in regard to the use of currency real or fake, remember the option to share in your love with the one you love is free and just around the corner.
wait what? it was said while a live letter, indeed find the info now seems strangely hard but still, you have the free version that allows you to enjoy the basic feature and a version gated behind the cash shop with all the other vanity feature. like said, it's not the eternal bond the trouble but what it can lead to. more feature that will be watered down for allows to get cash from the player by putting a part of this feature into the cash shop. it's freemium thing, that come from the free 2 play, exept we are not into free 2 play... we are in a subs game, we can't play if we don't pay the subs, then this freemium option is not welcome it's the worst idea every proposed before!
another point, when it will be in the game, it will be too late, because take out something from a mmorpg, take more time than put it in. because a lot of feature will be tie to it and it often have more impact on the game to move it out than put it in. for make simple, i have the feeling they laying low, instead to answer them community and simply will put it into the game and wait that people will forget it. they have done it with the cash shop...
because people tend to forget how the forum did say no to the cash shop while the beta and after the release. i will be blunt, i will not be satisfy anymore by anymore empty word that thing will not be like this or like that... from now i want action! i want them to be true to them word... i'm tired to see them act more and more rude to them playerbase. this last 6 month they don't have stop to take us for idiot. it did begin with the hunt and after it was the personal housing, followed by the cash shop and now this? seriously?
Yoshida in an interview before the release of the game did said that mmorpg are a service, i wonder if he still see this like this or not? because is not the feeling that i get from it. we are not anymore customer but milking cow. and for the people saying you don't know what will happend... i will only say this, 2.5 with the golden saucer + triple triad tie to a Ios application!
People getting angry at a business trying to make money. I don't recall SE being a Non-Profit Organization. You only see the standard plan as a watered down version because you want to label it that way. In fact, I can say that the standard plan was the original version and the premium plan was meant for players who had more cash to spare and is given the option to opt for an extravagant wedding.
Do you get angry at Celebrities who throws an extravagant wedding at an Island while you can only opt for a normal garden wedding? Lol.
There are some people that I'd happily /salute, if I were a business, and proceed to pull the money out of their pockets, while they thank me for it. Some even go as far as to defend me against others who don't enjoy how they're treated. Model consumers from a business' view.
Alas, I am not a business, so the gesture I'd give said people would be very different from a salute.

Edit, unrelated to my previous statement, only in the same post for daily post reasons;
The mount isn't merely "COSMETIC", as its ability to carry 2 players is as of yet entirely unattainable in-game. The only other existing 2 player mount is from the friend referral, which requires somebody to pay 3 months worth for you to get it - somebody who started a new account, mind you, so all the friends you referred previously to that system didn't count for jack. And if you didn't have any friends remaining that you hadn't referred yet, well, too bad.
So nobody's answered my question yet...
Has it been confirmed that the Gold Plan will cost real life money?
I am against the idea of such a thing too but I'd rather wait until we get actual confirmation. It's highly possible that payment schemes can be similar to housing. Want a house? You get a small one for 4m. Want a bigger house? You gotta pay more gil.
