The potential for the full package is already there.

SE has designed the system so it is unable to reach that full potential by tying ownership of a house to a specific plot in a limited number of wards, and the size of the house to an even more limited number of specific plots.

Only when SE changes the system so every player can get the plot they want will players have access to a full package.

Other MMORPGs have had thriving housing communities in their games despite their housing being fully instanced so everyone could participate as they want. It's a shame that FFXIV has to be otherwise.

Well it's because it's a commodity. The more
Common, something is the less value people place on it.

I don't see anyone complaining for apts EXCEPT servers where their supply is out. The servers that have enough apartments don't care about them. The servers that are full in their capacity.Are the ones asking for more apartments.if anything.

The servers that have a near capacity housing unit.
But plenty of apartments. You will find players that simply forgo apartments in their entirety because they want a house despite wanting to partake In the housing system

Irrelevant, it is like when areas are going to receive more instances as well due to various updates and so on and so forth.

You have is it now 24 permanent instanced wards and each plot has an instanced house, and FC.s has instanced built in apartments as well.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I don't think you're multiplying it up correctly.

Right now there's 85 servers, each of those has 5 housing locations, each of those areas has 2 divisions and each of those divisions has 30 wards.

That's 25,500 zones that are active, all the time, just for housing.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with how they're doing things for housing, but I can certainly see why it's not that easy for them to just scale it up.

That entire ward was brought out because the players themselves didn't want it. But they found a player with plenty of accounts who did want it.

So is it the player's fault? Who purchased Out the entire word when he was given the opportunity that nobody else wanted or cared about?

Is it the players fall who didn't want to go to that server and buy up a plot , allowing him the ability to Buy out the entire ward?

Whose fault is it that that player brought out the entireward the player who actively it took advantage of the situation, Or the players who passed up on all of the opportunities that were given?

Because if I put out a pile of cookies and say free cookies on it. But you willingly chose not to get one, Is it wrong that you didn't get one because you you didn't want what was available until it wasn't anymore?

You are on a dead world with a million open mediums and some open larges, why do you care if someone takes an entire ward ?

Only the interiors are instanced. Instanced means it only loads up when in use. The wards are permanently loaded, which is why wards use up so much server space, and why outdoor furnishings are so tightly limited and you can have double the amount on the Island than a large plot.

Realistically people on interested in plots because they want a decorate.They want one because it's a limited supply thing. I like looking at the apartments because Hey, that's the first thing a player can get for housing.Then i'm pretty sure players would enjoy it right? That doesn't seem you really be the case. Some players will have half heartedly heartedly or not at all engaged with the system unless they can get a plot.

So to me, that means that you're not really interested in the housing system. Just the commedity aspect of it.

If there was much of a housing crisis as people say there was the apartments will be decorated and filled up a lot more. But that's not what's happening. Players are complaining.There's not enough plots but are disinterested in apartments.

But players on full servers who don't have apartments either would kill for an apartment.

This isn't a housing issue.This is a give me what I want or I'll complain issue.

And on the other hand, there’s people like me who use every space available to us, and would like a system where we could have even more decorating space without taking up a limited supply. I just got one of my alts an FC room because I needed an empty space to take reference photos for the furnishing design contest! So it’s a plain white room for now, but I know eventually I won’t be able to resist decorating it, and that was the last option open to me unless I make yet another character!

One of the things I liked about ESO was the sheer variety of “housing” spaces… everything from a tent in a clearing or a small inn room you can actually decorate, to large estates with multiple buildings that can also be decorated. Almost every different type of setting you found out in the game world could be represented in their housing options. Shame I didn’t enjoy much else about that game. But that’s the kind of variety I’d eventually like to see here in XIV.

Well, now that you mentioned it, in your free company ward apt 47 all the way through 60 is empty. What are players going to do get mad at you purchased apartments they didn't care about? Are they going to get upset at you for taking the opportunity that they clearly didn't want? Myself, I have two free companies and 5 fc style rooms. The housing limit for plots is one private and one free company, The limits for apartments are one free company room and one apartment room for a limit of 16. If players want housing, they have access to it, but it's not what they want is it? They don't want housing..They want a plot...

I don't dislike your ideas.I think they're genuine and good. But I don't see the reason for them to put this much resources into housing housing.Only in trenches players, it doesn't bring new players to the game. And given how the demolition tis entrenching as they come. I see no reason why they would change the system. I agree with improvements.You can improve it over time, but an overhaul? there's no pay off. Those who aren't interested in housing, still won't care, and those who are already interested, weren't going to leave over it unless the rest of the game was already on thin ice for them.

I just don't see how overall change of system is going to change anything. Yes you'll like it, but subs arnt going to budge for all that development imo.

Games will survive without housing, but housing itself cannot survive without the main game. So why put so many resources into it?
