Correct me if am wrong ...

Square Enix had an operating income of almost 13.000 million Yen in 2008/2009. 3.000 million Yen came from the online department. So that would be around 23%. That is more than I expected to be honest. I wonder how much of it ends up being a net income. I can not seem to find that anywhere.

23% from just one game is a lot, but on the other hands its just 23% when you look at the whole company ....

I agree with what Evenstar is saying very much.

Also as we know, we have two patches getting released soon. If they keep the servers down they'll have no feedback from the players. Most people agree that the game is still in an open beta state and we need it active in order to give feedback and help make the game better.

If the servers stayed offline and then have one big patch at the end it'll end up being September 2010 all over again. You'll have lots of issues needing to be addressed that could have been caught earlier. It won't matter if there's loads of content added to the game by then. Players will turn away again at the bugged mess they waited months for and the game will surely die.

That being said: it's really upto SE if they feel they need to keep the FFXIV servers running at this time or not.

I agree with Zanfire. let the people get their lives in order so we an all enjoy the game. regardless of money or not, they are in crisis. games can wait, life comes first.

I think it's funny that people have already formed a clique on a forum that's not even a month old yet.

It's not. They turned off their central A/C, which allowed them to fall within the power guidelines they would like to stick with. So you have no point anymore.

P.S. btw, don't bother making a "humanitarian" argument about them sacrificing their heat... they have kerosene burning heaters. I know, I live here and have one in my office.
