LOL, anyone remember when we did this for materia in 2.0? XD
I want to restate that I have never, and would never kick someone who's genuinely nice and communicates about their gearing issues. I'm cool with people making mistakes, not knowing better, or just being lazy--as long as they're social and up-front about it. What I don't tolerate are the entitled people expecting a carry.
The biggest problem with carries is that carries only work when there's someone else to carry them. An under-geared tank can't feel entitled to tanking because an overgeared healer can carry them. What happens when you get BOTH an under geared tank AND an undergeared healer? Then who's at fault if the community just comes to accept that playing under-geared is ok? That's literally the biggest problem with people not pulling their weight, is that you can't just hand-wave it away with a "oh yeah, that's real funny!" No, Someone HAS to compensate for that failure. And I absolutely have no problem compensating for anothers failures if they're good people or just simply polite enough to communicate that they have weaknesses.
Again. My biggest pet peeve are the entitled or brick-wall people. The ones you ask questions or try to help, or give advice--and they rebute you with offensive and profanity strewn language. Those people don't deserve a second chance. They were given a first chance--and squandered it by being toxic. They're not entitled to me compensating for both their poor gear AND poor attitude. I'll just kick them. And the reason my kicks go through--is because the party agrees with the choice. Just because I'm the one who initiates it--doesn't mean I'm the only one feels they should be removed. The entire team believes that. That's why they pass.
--------
For the people panicked about getting kicked out because they reuse gear from other classes, or just want to save money. Be decent folks. If you're already worried about being a good player for the team--then you're already got a good start on having a team-player mentality. And honestly. I just play the game to have fun. IF the other people are helping me have fun--I don't care if I have to carry them. I'd rather play with cool people than jerks. I'm just saying jerks with bad gear will get kicked, because they're the epitome of terribleness.
And whether people think kicking those people is abuse or bullying--I don't care. Why are you guys trying to defend jerks who exist only to make life terrible for other people? IF they don't offer anything to the group be it performance OR a great social experience--why are you guys defending them? I think those people who are defending toxic people are just trying to sound holier than thou thinking they're immune to terrible players. Try BEING the person who has to compensate for the failures and then speak to me about second and third chances. It's always easier to throw in your two-cents when you're not taking any of the responsibility.
I only see people do this to get around ilvl requirements for normal raid content and 24-mans, but the content is too easy for the stat loss to matter.
I'm curious where this 10% figure you keep quoting comes from, Nedkel.
