Lack of content on patch release

But this topic talks about 4.3 itself and not including the .xx patches. And their argument is that the 4.3 patch alone is not really keeping their interest and that they wanted at least one part with it. I mean I am not saying that 3.1 was not bad (because it was) but this was not even part of the OP. Only a few posts later did someone try to compare those (which is already a bit bad imo because shouldnt we just better compare it to the 3.3 version or something and not just take one of the worst patch out of it and just say that just because it might be better in the long run its fine?) and if you compare those you need to compare them to the problem that is at hand. And the problem is the 4.3 patch and its content so we should also just look at the 3.1 part without any additions later. And there I dont think that its better than 3.1, simply because I had the same things to do than in that patch. (I am not saying that 3.1 is better btw)

Also we cant just say that it would be the same if HoH or Eureka came out with this patch because we simply dont have a situation like that.

If you want to talk about 4.3 by deliberating removing a part of the patch cycle to prove a point I'm afraid you are having a disonest conversation.
I already spoken my mind about staggered content about how I don't like it, how companies use it as a way to combat content drought and about my belief that ppl would still be complaining about lack of content because most ppl use their own opinion about what IS content, well I don't agree with that wiew, I don't like pvp, I don't partecipate in it but I still consider it game content.

The whole 4.3 vs 3.1 diabtribe was born because there are ppl that consider 4.3 worse than 3.1 while it's not true, you say that after the weekly reset things you have nothing else to do? There was nothing on reset week on 3.1 at all after 5 months we deserved much better, there's no patch in the game that comes even closer to that moment in the game and hopefully will never happen again

What bothers me, and I'm sure others have mentioned it already but *Polly Want a Cracker*, is this could have been one of the most amazing patches 4.0 had ever given us. Crafting Beast Tribes, new dungeon, new 24man raid, more story, Ultimate fight, Heaven on High, and an expansion to Eureka only one patch later!

Unfortunately the decided to release it all in a trickle over the next 3 months. God damnit SE... The excuse I recall hearing was "we dont want to overload the players, if they have too many things to do they wont be able to get to all the content." Please OVERLOAD US! I would rather sit down to FFXIV and wonder, "where do i start?" not "well, i did my dailies out of obligation, now what?" Its getting frustrating paying for a sub only to get a casual week at most out of new content before everything feels like a chore. Its not that they couldnt release it all at the same time, its an intentional tricking of content to give the illusion of content injection. These X.X1 X.X5 and X.X6 patches should be for QOL and hotfixes not content injections.

just the usual formula,
few hours MSQ
do the new raid for the story
playing some cards
do some dungeons
maybe some EX trials until i get bored the random ragequiters

You're completely missing the topic of this thread. This thread is about the content we've been provided on release of a major patch, and the fact that we are receiving the actual bulk of the content not on the day of the patch but months down the line. Eureka being delayed I completely understand but why delay Heaven on High when many people were excited for it for patch 4.3 especially with the showcasing of Heaven on High along with all the details that was announced just before the patch too.

I also don't think people are saying that 4.3 isn't going to be bad once its content has been released, I personally can't wait to grind Heaven on High and the new Eureka once it eventually comes out. The fact is that this patch is incredibly staggered and so drawn out yet some people defend this.

I honestly couldn't agree more. I miss how the X.Xx patches would include new glamour options, new housing items, emotes, some job adjustments and additional things to do. Instead, the mogstation seems to be where most of these resources have gone.

I am only using the patch 4.3 without the coming content because its part of the problem the OP has.

Comparing the whole 4.3 including all the coming content with an older one was already off topic because it was not even the problem of the OP. Thats why I went ahead and just compared the initial releases of the patch (because that is the problem the OP has) and for me it showed that they were not much better than 3.1 at all. If you put HoH and Eureka in it, its better but again, that not even the topic of this thread.

I really hope that they never stagger it so much again. Give us at least one new content with release or maybe two weeks later but not this split up. At least for me this smells just like "we want more money because you will sub more often" which kinda means that they also dont feel like their content will hold interest for that long (otherwise releasing it now would not be a problem imo).

In my opinion a MMO should give the people the view of having huge amounts of stuff to do because they need our constant sub unlike normal games. Splitting it all up just feels like they dont really think that they have enough content that last till the next patch thus need to forcefully make it longer.

And I said that if you are only talking about the delay on content I can agree that it's annoying even though I understand why it's done and that some ppl would have complained regardless.

The problem as Corbin has said you've said this is the lackluster patch to date and imho that is wrong you cannot whitewash what 3.1 was for the game. CorbinDallas said that ppl if you played during that time you wouldn't really say that there's no content or that it's the worst patch, yet ppl challenged him on this notion and btw I've enjoyed DIadem and Verminion for what they were, yet I know full well their problem and why they were a failure.
Also frankly when ppl use content to speak to some the usual response is that X is not content because everyone simply uses the content they want to run, which honestly annoy me. WHy not just saying this patch has not enough content I like eh? I guess because it wouldn't cause enough drama

Oh and btw you are kinda late with this complaint because it's since 2.2 that x.x5-x.x8 patch have started having extra content (2.25 beign pvp related. 2.28 novus, 2.35 the whole ixali beast tribes) So no It never was about only glamour, they always had something delayed, but ofc beast tribes is not content so nobody cared

@Alleo Wow does it and it's the only other MMO with a sub as such I don't believe this practice will go anywhere. I agree that their reasoning for doing it is trash, but I'm afraid it's not going away
Also consider that some players would prefer a staggered release of savage too, which I believe it's also the reason why ultimate gets released 2 weeks later and I think this message was given to yoshida. Frankly I don't agree with any of this and the reasoning behind it, but since as I said this is going from 2.2 I don't believe it'll change

We literally just got Ultimate yesterday, but oh wait, because that's not something you can even participate in it's not "content", am I right?

Honestly the constant back and forth in this thread is hilarious. Ultimately (lol), what it boils down to is what people consider "content" and whether it is relevant or even doable by those complaining. I'm probably never going to do ultimate, yet I would be foolish to claim it wasn't content. Likewise, just because it takes me 5 minutes a day to do my Namazu dailies, doesn't mean it isn't content. Just because you burn through everything casual in a few hours after release doesn't mean it has no longevity and isn't content.
