XIV on Switch and Xbox

The Tegra X1 reduces its clock speed to around 307MHz when "undocked". This is why Zelda FPS rates range from 15-30 "mobile". Docked it is around the 770Mhz range. If SE had the option they would make the game play in docked mode only, as the poor FPS undocked would be horrible for the player and their party would likely suffer from it as well. However, if Nintendo Switch Policy states titles must be playable in Docked and Undocked mode, why would SE even bother.

Realize I do not know Nintendo's Switch Development Policies.

It came with the launch of the PS4 version.

the Switch would be one of the worst descisions SE could make to bring XIV to. We finally just dumped PS3 support and that would be like re supporting it and would gimp PS4 and PC quality. Would be nice to have it on Xbox especially with the Scorpio coming soonish but the biggest road block atm is Microsoft isn't opposed to allowing XIV on their console but they require an option to be in the game to only play with other Xbox owners and Xbox gold subscription.

SE woun't budge on the having to make completely seperate servers just for Xbox players

Anyway regarding your points since you brought them up, having a locked boot process has 0 to do with what your system can run. Old Power IBMs and Macs both used openfirmware but you couldn't run AIX on a mac or Mac OS on a P series IBM yet they ran the same hardware...and DEC Alphastations were the same exact thing for the Tru64 and Windows NT version the only difference was one allowed you to boot one the other you could boot both. Also, FreeBSD is free however the reason they use it is because you can modify the code and don't have to release it as you would with something licensed with the GPL. Also their graphics stack is proprietary so it's not really a good example. (yeah I know directx is proprietary but you can get a book at the library for it I mean readily available). This is just me rambling and going on about things lol. I used to be a bit of a computer collector so I've had all sorts of crazy stuff.

PS4 probably has a bigger market overall, but Xbox is still a very solid market here.

You are mixing stuff that doesn't belong together.

Serverside a zone is nothing else than a table of coordinates where players, mobs, fates and so on are located.

The other stuff you tell is client side only. The server has absolutely nothing to do with objects or textures that get drawn or other visuals.

The point of my statement if you read the conversation is simple. The PS3 was not the major reason for ARR's zones being smaller than 1.0, it was several major reasons, which I pointed out 2 critical ones. The user I was responding to clearly did not follow the development of ARR regarding zone redesign.

You are mixing 2 of my points together when they are separate.

- Server side checks were considered in the Zone redesign as players actively engage in them which does put loads on the servers and the addition stress of the new FATE System.

- My visuals statement wasn't regarding the server at all. It specifically talked about more detailed zones and less use of texture instancing. Compared to 1.0s large zones, with few details and a massive overuse of texture instancing.

Playcast for PS4 or Splashtop with the gamepad. Adjust the sensitivity for things so camera doesnt spin as fast. Works 100% fine. Have some good macros for combos you may need. That or pair a controller to it. Play that way. I use an ipad pro 9.7 with LTE. So yea, Im always online even when I shouldnt be at work. =p

Microsoft wants it but have a extra server to be xbox only as well. SE is 100% against atm and wants everyone together so i dont see happening, switch is more likely but its actually just a nividia shield and tad better than a ps3! No point in switching ps3 for a switch switch port in many eyes atm!

The WiiU e more powerfull than PS3 and Switch is more powerfull than WiiU. A switch version should be awesome. Play FFXIV anywhere? Sign me in!
