Square Enix would sell all your grandmothers if they could. They're not your friends. They'll never stop wanting more and more money, and the only way to make them stop trying to grab more, is making them feel like they're in danger of losing more than they gain if they proceed like this.

FFXI came out before the era of cash shops. FFXIV being its spiritual successor came during the era of cash shops so that is why the cash shop is here to stay. I don't care about the cash shop either way. I just think people are wasting their time complaining about it because it won't get removed. I'd love to find what exactly I'm trying find an excuse for but it will have to wait until later. I already said I don't care about the cash shop either way but I can understand why SE implemented it based on other mmos utilizing it for profits. I also realize the cash shop is here to stay despite the people complaining. At least by using this method for eternal bonding everyone has access to all the vanity and mounts of marriage and its reducing some of RMTs profits at the same time. If the bracelets were untradeable can you imagine how many more people would be upset?

I haven't bought a single thing from RMT and am not a legacy player. I have 20m+ gil in my account through sheer hard work in-game.

Bringing the point of cash shop items for gil to combat RMT is good but it means SE changing their stance all together. RMT is pay to win. Cash shop from SE that will do the same result is also pay to win. If the games initial structure revolved around this then it's all okay. People are complaining now that SE suddenly seemed to changed direction.

People are complaining because Yoshida stated "not pay to win" in the last live event. They're doing something different to what has been stated.

If SE plan to let this continue then they should say it clearly.

Sometimes it's good to take a deep breath and ask yourself, does the thing I'm mad about actually matter?

Does it really affect me in any meaningful way?

I suspect it does not, in this case. Gil really does not afford much meaningful advantage. What does it really get you? Housing, a purely aesthetic thing? A more optimally melded Novus, the difference between which and a sub-optimally melded Novus 99% of people are not skilled enough to capitalize on?

Most people get by with very little gil and for good reason. You don't need much in this game.

I think being upset that the specific house you were working very hard to save up for was bought by someone who was willing to shell out $200 is a pretty valid complaint.

This is just one example of many possible ways that this will effect people. You won't directly notice most of them, but it will effect things.

That would suck but is no different to, and just as probable, as some omnicrafter on your server who was hitherto uninterested in housing deciding to buy one on a lark.
