But it still doesn't negatively affect you in anyway. If you play hardcore and enjoy it, then you'll keep up with content as it comes out and go through the long processes because that's what you like to do. I'm fairly hardcore and I'm fine with the effort.
If you want to switch the casual, you always can. Take your time and enjoy other things, later on you can catch up because of these catch-up mechanisms.
Just because it's easier for casuals later doesn't have anything to do with your efforts now.
Be glad. Now you can say stuff like "I walked 15 miles to get groceries back in my day" and then complain about how everyone can get everywhere with their confounded improved public transportation and cars." If you get my analogy.
I wouldn't mind having gear take as long as it did before to get. But making some casuals feel more accomplished faster, with their limited time does nothing to spit in my face.
Get over it. The days of gaining a false sense of superiority from spending more time in the game are long gone.
It's just two different playstyles and the game is accommodating both. You still get to accomplish things long before the rest. You can feel some pride in that.
Last points
1) They are technically not making it "easier", just less time consuming.
2) Are we really talking about the prestige of tome/vendor gear? That only has to do with how long you've been playing. I don't mind time sinks, but they should never be used to dictate prestige. That's like those dumb leveling systems where you gain experience only from just being online.
Coil is right there. Be in the top 10 fc's of your server to down turn 5. That's good prestige. That rank will never go away.
Spending time doesn't mean anything if it's just trivial tome farming.
If you feel pride in that, good. Keep doing it.
But don't force everyone to obey your time sink hierarchy.
It's not about them, it's about what you enjoy doing.
I wholeheartedly approve of raising the cap to 450. Casual/newer players can gear out their main class faster, hardcore/veteran players can gear out their off-classes.
The 2 paths to 90 gear support each other, for those who raid coil. For those who can't/don't, Myth is perfectly fine on it's own. Some Myth are better for some slots for some classes, and some not. I clear T4 weekly on my bard, and due to itemization, most of my 90 gears are Myth. I'd also rather wait 4 months for RNG to give me Allagan Boots than EVER buy Myth Boots of Aiming. They're yucky.
Thank you SE, for giving us the opportunity, and option, to earn 50% more Mythology gear, for my main class or etc., as I see fit. I will not ask for more, because I trust you will give it to us when the game has grown enough to need it.

Is anyone else a little concerned that he goes out of his way to comment on each piece of new content that adds a new way of earning tomestones... and CT isn't one of them?
I still don't understand why MMOs still run the backwards logic of giving you items to make things easier at endgame.
It is like you beat coil, and it pops up a question asking "Do you want next coil to be easier? Yes/No". Except it does this in a cryptic way with gear drops instead so it isn't as obvious.
I wonder if people would actually press "Yes, easier" if they removed gear from game and instead added the question. Same thing in the end, but people who don't think would also be aware that it is just a process of making content easier.
I wish game was properly ordered so that you get gear first, then you get silly Salvage content that disables 1,2,3,4,5 slots so it gets harder and harder.
i know alot of people are gonna say im wrong and the hardcore player base just needs to leave the game blah blah blah BUT ....
being able to obtain end game gear by running VERY easy 4 man level 50 dungeons in 20 minutes is one of the dumbest things any MMO has ever done ....... just sad
SE u need to rethink ur end game mechanics for 2.2
edit ... i almost forgot after 2.1 u will be able to obtain the end game gear by doing daily solo quests ........ good job SE on getting dumber
