I'm not talking about role fantasy, I'm talking about player preference.
If a player prefers to lead, they won't play a healer. If a player prefers low responsibility, they won't play a healer.
There's nothing they can ever do to the healer role to make these types of players play a healer.
Players change roles all the time. Both my static healers were melee DPS before.
And while I play tank now I could not care less about any leading, I only do so for current content because I only want to farm content once and with tanks I can use it for 4 jobs potentially.
Complaints are both that parties don't want to deal with shit healers and healers don't want to deal with shit parties. There's another also claiming all the good ones get recruited into statics. Seems there's a notable shortage of physranged in some DCs right now as well.
Probably not a coincidence the JP SCH thread is discussing removing Energy Drain again, considering.
From what I could glean/understood via limited exposure & anecdotal hearsays, they seemed to lean toward "Well dev made this for us so let's at least give this a try..."-mindset than straight up not touching everything that doesn't suit their taste. With few exception being the horrendous criterions(?).
Energy Drain is the one thing that makes SCH one of the best designed healers currently as it's the only Healer who can always have a use for their job gauge... But SE's track record would indicate they'll rather remove it instead of making it more useful to the party...
