Still lagging badly for the 5th straight day. I can't believe this shit.
Been following the thread for a couple days now but figure I should chime in too.
Also on AT&T fiber and I'm up on Lake Erie. Local friends who also play on a different ISP (Spectrum) aren't having any issues. Current trace:
Ridiculous how long this has been happening.Code:5 * * * Request timed out.

Yeah still no change. Someone said the servers went down last night at 3am and I was hoping it was a fix but clearly not. Since I got on at noon and try to pvp and rubberband and pausing and going. So I turn VPN on for now again until more updates. Yeah still AT&T fiber person here as well. Crystal Shard.
Like clockwork

Its infuriating, with no end in sight.
Post-NA server outage and maintenance, and still not working. Amazing! Wish SE would service their non-JP players at the same quality. Not acknowledging that there has been issues with their NA data center routing for a full decade, and now outright leaving their player base in the dark when their decision to go with NTT (instead of any other well-established company with more developed infrastructure) continues to blow up in their faces. For a game that has evolved to be one of the biggest in the world, it is time to treat us better, and for us to stop putting up with this nonsense.
While I agree with nearly all the points... they did at least acknowledge the issue.

No official Lodestone "mea culpa" yet, but one would think that it's incoming if things don't improve quickly.
Didn't really count that one since it's linked to a Lodestone post from a year ago, and was linked for us to submit our traceroute information on the form linked there.
Can confirm that the issue is back. It was fine this morning around 8-10AM Central time. Now at 3PM - I just ran Paradigm's Breach on a PowerPoint simulator. Holy moly that was a miserable experience.
Again - I would encourage y'all to voice your concerns with your wallets and cancel your subscriptions. And keep the heat on social media & in the forums. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Well, at least the NTT node/AT&T issue got spotlighted on "State of the Realm" really quickly.
Hopefully, that will reach more ears.
I am on day three of this issue. Early mornings on the East Coast are good, but as the day progresses, the connection quality degrades drastically.
The fact that its happening at prescribed times, and then 'turning off' at specific times - does this not imply that this is an intentional decision by at least one of the 3 parties involved?
(It makes no sense at all for SE to be the culprit here, they have the most to lose)
I was wondering if they would give us some sub time back? Because we pretty are not able to play without a VPN. So I also asked about that fact. Along with I have to pay for a sub and a VPN. I know some are free.. but its the fact that some of us will be paying for it overall! Sadly this is what they said. Not angry... more so annoyed and bummed with the answers they given us. Overall I was wondering for us since... you know some of us have it worse than others and I wanted to see if they will be covering our time on not able to play. Sucks but hopefully something comes around. -Edit I wanted to fix my English a bit since I was in a rush of typing my thoughts down and not reading it back. So sorry if sloppy!
"We apologize for the inconvenience this may have been. We are aware there was an issue reported with certain internet service providers and after review the issue reported was marked as resolved. We kindly invite you to try again later at another time.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any kind of compensation for unused game time. And while that service is not an available option, we will take this information and forward it as feedback to the appropriate department. While we cannot guarantee implementation, we would like to assure you that it will be reviewed by the appropriate party.
Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you in the meantime, we are here to help."
Marked as resolved? Huh, lemme just tell these packets to stop dropping already. Oh, and I'll call the NTT nodes that still have sky high ping and let them know the issue is resolved, too. Guess they just haven't heard the news yet. What an utterly embarrassing response.
Canceled my subscription. Hopefully eventually I'll be able to play again, but man... that's disappointing.

Me and my friends wanted to do the new EX trial on Wednesday, but it's literally impossible for majority because of this lag. My friend can't even open retainers without getting stuck for like 2 minutes lol. So bad.
The lag is so bad recently. Players and mobs just stutter stepping all over the place. I hope they fix this issue soon.
I can confirm! For the price of $28/ month, you can enjoy final fantasy XIV without any disruptions to your service. After resubbing to nord vpn and playing a couple matches of frontlines to test, it has indeed stopped rubber banding and I have an 'Excellent' status of connection once again.
It disgusts me that I'm having to dish out money for a VPN like this for this reason. But at least in the Georgia area with nord vpn attached, I can play without issues for the time being. I hope others VPNs work out well, and those really cheap VPNs or free VPNs work for everyone else as well. I do not envy anyone who has to continue dealing with this issue and hope it doesn't lead into patch 6.4 like this.
Rather than being deliberate, I think it's more of a traffic issue and the hardware not being able to keep up; it starts around in the afternoon and goes until later in the evening. Feels like it picks up when everyone from both east/west coasts and in-between are playing, than tapers off as the night goes on and people head to bed. I'd be interested to see if the timing remains the same over the weekend or if it starts earlier due to people not having work/school.
5 days with no ETA in sight. This is a joke.
It is likely to be a congestion issue with one of those nodes. I played yesterday on a new character since I can't do multi-player content on my main and I noticed the lag got even worse during peak hours. The lag doesn't suddenly shut off. It starts getting better at 1:30ish AM eastern USA time and then goes back to normal about 2:15AM.
Seriously, whoever that Square Enix rep is that wrote that it was "resolved" is clearly ignorant of the situation.
Or flat-out incompetent. Or both.
To Square Enix, AT&T, and NTT: Kindly, wake up and read the room. Read this Traceroute too, while you're at it.

The issue is not resolved.
I just submitted my own ticket, explained to them that I'm on console and they insisted my problem is because I have Microsoft Edge running in the background... which is kind of impossible given you can't even install Microsoft Edge on a Playstation.
At this point I really am considering cancelling my sub since they don't even seem to care about the problem. 5 days is way too long for this to be going on for them not giving a proper response to this.

SE has marked this as resolved!?! That worries me that they are just moving on, chips fall where they may.
Honestly I don't know what they hope to gain by marking the issue as resolved. As soon as 6.4 drops and a bunch of people log into the game they will have the same problem and the complaining will grow louder. But it seems like they won't be doing anything. Honestly, without them being experts and the issue not being their servers specifically it doesn't surprise me.
Not to doom-say, but I honestly don't expect this to be resolved in any satisfactory manner. Considering that it involves 3 separate companies and that they've said nothing about it on Lodestone, I think this is just going to be the sad new reality for AT&T customers. Your options are going to be to use a VPN, change ISPs, or just quit.
I hope I'm wrong. I really really really want to be wrong. But I don't think I am. This sucks for everyone effected. :(
If won’t be, not if we can’t help it.
Take that doom-saying and send it the way of SAM’s Kaiten.
Keep up the pressure, and the incompetent ones will fold.
If anyone knows where the community reps are on socials, perhaps direct them here to the thread, if they haven’t seen it.
Yeah.. that what bothering me is when they reply to me on it. .. just seeing the "resolved" urk me and it felt like .. well yeah that interesting suggestion and close ticket. Which makes me feel like they didn't care to read or write anything more than a "bot like message back" .. "We hear.. you we see you" ... But do you though? Because all we got told is to was fill out some forms, give our pings and stuff and that it. I get the NDA as some say but more info is needed for sure. Because at this point we're all sitting ducks.. with AT&T/NTT saying one thing and SE saying another and then everyone here and there trying to fill in this puzzle together of what info they got. *sigh* <3
From the subreddit, written by a EU player:
"Speaking from EU perspective, permanent lag issues are nothing new in this game. For some reason it keeps having them for a number of players that is large enough to be generally concerned, but apparently not large enough for anyone to care. Yes, this is mostly a provider- or more specifically routing-based issue that you either never have or constantly have or have at a certain time of the day almost every day, especially during local peak raid hours.
You make a trace log, you submit it to the FFXIV forums and file a report, and nothing ever comes of it despite an overwhelming number of reports pointing at exactly the same machine that is well within the FFXIV server structure causing this problem through excessively high packet loss. You as a consumer and customer can't do anything more - the game provider won't help you because they think it's on the ISP, and the ISP won't help you because they think it's on the game provider. And as long as you can't prove that any of them is the definitive culprit, nothing will happen. So all you can do is live with it."
I love this game. I want it to be fixed for my friends so we can enjoy 6.4. Maybe the patch maintenance will fix the issues, but I'm just being realistic here.
I don't have the time or the drive, but maybe the best way to fix this is to try contacting ATT, NTT, SE follow the steps laid out in their support and document it all. Prove it did not resolve anything, and consult a lawyer to see if there is any angle to throw in a lawsuit or get the firm to threaten with legal action.
At this point you are burning money though but chances are that IF there is an angle to attack from a legal standpoint then efforts to solve the issue would ramp up. Again, I will not be pursuing this course because I'd rather quit. But I do feel it has potential.
At this point, it just makes more sense for SE to worry about cleanly launching 6.4 and then start to "care" about working towards a fix for these horrendous connection issues.
It's not like they have an obligation to make the game experience as tolerable as possible for all of the players who pay a subscription for their online game. By this point, I literally do not know if they legitimately do not care about this situation affecting a select minority of us players, or somehow still do not understand what actions to take to rectify this (despite all the evidence for the culprit).
Given how little communication towards an actual resolution, and the fact that they only bothered to link us to a year old Lodestone post instead of anything recent is just leaving me greatly disappointed. Time to boot up a VPN to make the 6.4 launch experience bearable, I guess. :p
I'm just going to continue submitting trace logs during the problem hours at this point--can't play the game, so I may as well provide a steady stream of data for Square to ignore*♂️
FFXIV is the only MMO that ever really "clicked" with me, so it really sucks if this is how I have to stop playing.
While not ideal we did technically get at least some acknowledgement about the issue. However whether anything is actually being done about it is another matter entirely.
https://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN/status/1658963004749402114?s=20
You would hope with 6.4 right on the horizon they would try and get this resolved. But it is bordering on a week and half, still no fix or really anything of a fix in the works that we've been informed of.
No joke if it goes onto week 3 and this is still ongoing, I'm definitely canceling the sub. I love XIV but they obviously don't have a good control over how their networking is handled. Especially when the NA servers completely crash on them out of the blue like last night.
