And of course it is completely and utterly impossible that SE provided them with some segments of gameplay to put in the trailer?

VERSION 2.0 of Final Fantasy XIV is going to "kickoff" this Year's E3 ( I can care less what else was said below it) When they say "Kickoff"Quote:
Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles.
-The "Trickle" is Probably the "Kickoff" at E3 Maybe 10% of their planned Content to show before 2.0 beta goes live.Quote:
we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle.
-The "Flood" is probably referring to Gamescom that's going to happen in August.
-Kickoff means the start of something, and they are just getting FFXIV 1.0/2.0 out there so they can look out for the games future.
-Information, after website is launched after E3 with be coming in Slowly ( After the Initial setup of the FFXIV 2.0 website), till Gamescom in which they flood the news by the gallons.
-Most likely will be at TGS 2012 to Def. show Gameplay I'm sure
-2.0 Beta starts
Summary: SE Makes FFXIV in General known at E3 (Show off what's already in the game now, Followed by a Trickle of New 2.0 information). Site Goes live After E3, Information slowly gets up into Site, Gamescom comes the Flood of Information Arises.
I forgot to mention PC doesn't even have a dedicated gaming section for E3.
No, everyone has a legit reason to not like something. Going with your logic it's like saying "I don't like celery and its legit because I say so. But you, you can't like peanut butter because that's not legit. Because I say so. Who doesn't like peanut butter. That's just stupid. Stop whining and crying." Do you not think that they putting primal seals in there like that was something they thought about? But you just said you shouldn't bash a company because of decisions they make. Odd.
And they would be happier if they gained 500k more and still had those 1000 more. Also, that marketing statement made me giggle. You pretend like you either know about marketing, which you're the only person who does and everyone else is telling a lie unless they agree with you or you think S.E. makes perfect business decisions 100% of the time. Oh wait. We wouldn't be in this mess if S.E. didn't release such a messed up game at the start with their superior business logic.
If these forums are so bad, why do you continue to post here? Its like saying "This room smells so bad, I can't stand it. It makes me sick. I want to vomit. But I'm going to stay in here and complain about it smelling bad then just going to the next room."
Or afraid to face reality, but everything is moot these days, if its not fab your a drab!
They said "Public Release" with "This Year's E3" Man where are you guys coming up with ludicrous theories is beyond me.Quote:
Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles.
The haters and closet fans just gotta get their jabs in for every decision made that wasn't brought to their righteous throne (read:creaky computer chair) for their mystical seal of approval(read: wet bottom of soda bottle).
Let's try to remember that the trailer, in fact, is done, but like the previous opening trailer, has no gameplay. We've been down this path before, and Yoshi and the PR market crew is also aware of that fact. I agree that it's better to hold off, and instead make a comprehensive presentation of 2.0 rather than just some teaser that will remind people that hey, FFXIV 1.0 had a nifty looking trailer too!
Remember how that worked out?
Slow and steady wins the race this time guys. I'm glad they're taking consideration for what they have, and the mistakes made in the past.
i got over it, i'm sure you can too. if not here's a list of support groups by state.

Like Everyone on here feels like Nothing is going to be presented at E3 ( and considers that facts) let me tell you. At least I find reasons within his writing if you " Read Between the lines" and read everything closely you to can crack the code!
However, you are right we don't know whats going to be at E3, but all the "nope its not going to be there" people seem to know what they are doing.
It sounds like you misunderstood the producer letter a little. They decided that they will not show a "trickle" of information about 2.0 during E3. Instead, they want to go all out later on to make a bigger impact.
Therefore, if they show something new at E3, it would contradict the statement in the letter.
I hate to admit it, but I can just feel this happening. The letter said the promo site would be coming "shortly after E3". This sounds like it will be coming the week after E3. But I have a feeling this wording is just being used to soften the blow to fans, and they really plan to wait a good month plus.
In the end, this kind of wording just upsets people more. If we don't see the 2.0 site come online in the week or so following E3, there are bound to be threads popping up asking where it is. People will just get more and more annoyed.
If they are planning on sending the 2.0 site live in mid July, it would be much nicer to fans if they just told us that we should see it by the end of July. Just disappoint us once and get it over with.
To be frank. I'm tired of the Hype Machine in general.
Every single little company is tossing around overproduced BS that isn't in the game, all for a bid of attention and marketing. I don't remember Minecraft splitting multi-million dollar budget on trailers getting people to like their game... and they've got what, 9 million copies sold now?
The PR caught that, and spoke with Yoshi. This time, hype won't work. The game has to sell itself. It's about effing time that policy is embraced again for once within our market.
Am I disappointed that we won't have that ready for E3? Yeah, I am. But that just means when the data is released, I won't have to wait a few months more to start experiencing it.
I'm already sold on the game. If SE's marketing department isn't as good as the game deserves, then I guess we'll have to step up and do it. What a concept, marketing by word of mouth.
This is the ONLY thing that they are keeping under wraps ( as it seems to be their wild card), Everything else is up in the air... everyone is just butthurt, that they can't have their Eyecandy a week from now. I was butthurt too.. but I been over it :/.Quote:
We had planned to release a new trailer for version 2.0 at E3 this year, but instead we’ve decided to keep it under wraps for now.
Word of mouth without a good campaign and info dump from SE =
"Hey, I'm playing FFXIV! You should check it out!"
......what? Are you crazy? That thing still online? Heck,I heard they only let you play for 2 hours and then you can't get XP! Nah bro, I'm just gonna check out - insert next big MMO thingy here.
I think you're butthurt that everyone else is butthurt. How many people are over it? How many people are mad cause they were lied too? Not because they didn't get to see their trailer. How many people think they simply messed up by not showing the trailer. Not mad or anything in any way. I don't think you really know so quit placing everyone in the same category.
I wouldn't worry to much. E3 is not the "end-all-be-all" that it used to be. Chances are they are preparing a showing for the Tokyo Game Show instead.
Hm, I'm not sure I follow.
I mean, there's nothing to "feel" here - it's black on white in the letter. Unless there was an inaccuracy in the translation, Yoshida said that there will be no new information about 2.0 at E3. (Which, by the way, still is no big deal.)
"A flood of new material rather than just a trickle" equals "a flood of new material [later] instead of just a trickle [at E3]".
a flood of new material later on = yes
a trickle at E3 = no
Thus, according to the letter, you will not get a trickle at E3. The trickle has been cancled. No trickle for you. I suppose what you could see though, is information less than a trickle!
There's nothing wrong with discussing something and you tell people they shouldn't. That's my problem. I see you worked yourself into a hole there and couldn't back out. Me, I'm talking. You, you've been qqing the qqers. "Meh, it's whatever really, but I'm gonna sit here and post and qq to you qqers and then I'm gonna by like "whatever really, doesn't matter." So yes. Have you happy memorial day! Irony. Haha sorry.
Then you should be supporting the fact that they're waiting till they have the presentation info TO dump. Not that you can't point at the outline of what's changing through the already existing information anyways.
Sounds to me like you don't actually try when it comes to pushing a game you enjoy. or are you simply playing for the Legacy prices and the hope that 2.0 will 'make it all better'?
I mean, if you're not sold on the game, don't try to sell it yourself. There are still a large bunch that is playing strictly because of the promise of 2.0. Those guys are better off waiting until they are in the 2.0 beta before trying to spread by word of mouth.
Those that are liking the elements in the game they've added should be the one's pushing now. That much can be supported by info already in the game.
I don't predict FFXIV will be well received at E3 regardless of the trailer. It probably won't be until after 2.0 is already out that people will start cautiously looking our way again. Market machine won't be working here.
I swear, Starlord has like half the posts in this thread. I'm not sure who needs to "get over it".
This idea may have worked if FFXIV was a brand new little gem of a game that was coming out in a few months...but it's not. It's 2 years old and has been universally panned by critics and players.
For this game to pick up momentum, it's going to take more than just a few players who have stuck with the game since launch telling their friends "It's much better now, I swear!", which people have probably already been doing with each patch.
SE needs to prove that this is a game that has not only improved since launch (because that's not saying much), BUT it can compete with the new games coming out and is worth purchasing and paying a subscription fee.
I don't care when we get to see the new trailer as long as 2.0 delivers.
When people don't seem to get it yeah.. but now I'm burnt out. just like getting GC stuff with seals obtaining like 40k worth of seals ( and still not done) yeah I'm kinda Burnt out. but who's really judging. But if you wanna point fingers...
Edit: And I'm also tired of repeating myself as well, I said we will see a long time, and the same people still go on about it.. And this for everyone! :D

Happy Memorial Day!! Trolololol :D
While I would agree that it's smarter to flood info when you have it, and that a trailer isn't necessarily going to be the thing that promises us greater things about the game...
I think it's a really dumb move, overall. You need something to hook people with about your game, and E3 is probably the BEST chance for positive PR that any game has year-round. And the one thing this game needs most if it wants to succeed past 2.0 is great PR.
Plus, it's harmless. A cool trailer, is that really going to destroy the game if it's shown at E3? It's not going to change that game at all, all it's going to do is draw attention about XIV, hopefully positive attention. 9 times of of 10 the thing that draws people to a game at E3 isn't a cool interview or a little info on a new game, it's a flashy f*cking CS and 5 minutes of enjoyable gameplay. While we can't necessarily get people with the gameplay, unless they have some 2.0 stuff prepared to play through; we can draw the crowd with what we already know will be a beautifully wrought CS, and then get them even more interested with info about 2.0.
I just feel like it's a dumb decision for PR, when this game needs PR the most.
Who really cares, as long as I get comprehensive notes in some form in June, then all good with me. Do people whine just to whine these days? We still are getting quite a bit of information, are you mad because it is not being presented in a small booth?
Really, if there is something SE is good at, it is marketing and promoting a game. I am very sure they will find a way to tell future PS3 players "Hey come try out FFXIV 2.0! You will have a blast.".
2.0 is a lie!
