sense or not, it's a requisite. I can't completely understand why blm should have pgl as second class, but for others it's completely understable.
For example, pld have an healing spell itself. That's your cnj.

Seems like the subs are based from a usage rather then story. Blm gets Featherfoot and Second Wind. For this I can understand why they'd use Pgl. Blm will be pulling a lot of hate, and without access to Sentinel or Stoneskin(it's 26) you'd be screwed pretty quickly. However with Featherfoot you get a free evade, plus MP, and second wind as an emergency heal. As for Whm/Gld, um... they can use Aegis Boon? This one I'm stumped on. ‡.‡
since job traits are listed under job abilities ( class reform topic )
do we "monks" get store TP from LNC ?
... Black Mage- Thaumaturge ok, Pugil... are you serious... I didn't know spell casters going around punching things in the face... glad the requirement is 15, but seriously why!? It should be 15 cjn, and whm should be 15 thm.
Is the main stat for Black Mage secretly Strength too? Jesus christ...
Only Warrior, Gladiator make sense. Who made this list?
Because both THM and PGL use INT in their attacks... and because PGL has very useful skills? Liking or not is always recomended to lvl all classes to some degree for their useful skills.
And like someone told, Second Wind and Featherfoot are a must have in all classes, same with Sentinel, Raise and Invigorate.
And why you all that are QQing about lvl reqs if is only lvl 15? LOL You get to 15 in a few minutes now if you want... Not more than a hour and you are lvl 15...
So this is good news for bluemage! Just make it unlockable with Gladiator for the sword and whatever other class and boom! Bluemage :D
Pugilist deal with elemental arts as well as blm
Not mad about the level, just mad about the second requirement of Black mage being a class that doesn't fit. Featherfoot? I barely use that ability, so it's done right useless... Black Mage is meant for party play not solo.
It's like going up to a firefighter saying he is a fighterfighter/cop than Fighterfighter/Paramedic...
If you are pulling hate you are a bad player then. Second wind I use alot so it useful, but other classes have other abilities which are far more useful than Pugilists one ability.
Closer to Red Mage than Black Mage because that's more like En-fire or En-blizzard.
Why on earth do i need to level Gladiator for White Mage? That makes no sense. Anyone that enjoys playing a healing class isn't likely to ever touch a class like Gladiator, except for any useful abilities but still, all this does is force people to play classes they wont enjoy, not impressed. THM would have made more sense.
Are you seriously complaining about leveling a class to 15? 15, really? that doesn't take any time at all.
In the craziness of it all, the White Mage must learn what the beatings feel like to know that they never want to experience that again. This will give the mage incentive to do what they can to keep the tank alive and to avoid becoming a high priority target of the beastmen.
I doubt there is many without almost all classes at least 20+ at this point, even so I find it a very odd decision to have the 2 mages jobs have sub reqs from classse that makes no real sense, for example having BLM require 30 thm and 15 cnj would make sense since cnj has the other half of the elemental spells...
Then again not surprising with this game's refusal to do anything that might even slightly mimic a system from XI no matter how much sense or how good whatever such system would be (elemental wheel says hello?).
Not realy complaining, just pondering whats up with theese occasional decisions devoid of logic :> For any new player this games class system has to be getting more and more confusing by each patch.
"Let's see... So in order to become a more efficiant caster of elemental magic, I need too... Train in hand-to-hand combat? O.o?!"
Obviously they are saving the conjurer thaum combo for red mage :D
then hopefully Gladiator Black mage for Blue mage
then Gladiator Pugilist for Thief
then introduce katana class that unlocks sam with katana and lance, and ninja with katana and glad
then arcanist releases and unlocks...continue. we need a smn in there somewhere
Probably that would be a possible reason, but then RDM isnt realy an job coming from 1 classes evolution rather a combination of 2 seperate classes.
The question then is, why the hell do our current classes need a sub requirement, its not like the combinations makes any sense so maybe the better idea is just to drop it and just have r30class = job.
Saving theese sub reqs etc for future non class specific jobs (like RDM , SCH, DRK etc).
I have a question! Since my dragoon is coming from both lancer and pugilist. does that mean I have to have 1-15 levels of pug abilities? Or just abilities from the main class
If I only get the lancer abilities I guess it wouldn't really matter that pug helps unlock my drg. But! If I must have pugilist 1-15 level abilities set, then yea it does seem wrong.. I don't see why my drg needs backhand blows or pummeling skills lol
You don't need to use the PGL skills o.o is just a requirement... Geez you people like to turn easy to complicated thing...
Is that hard to understand that you need just to have the other class at 15?
After a little bit of thought, I like these requirements. They are not obvious in some cases, but they do promote a certain playstyle that is unique to this game. Cross-class play.
1 Character that is able to do anything, and since most players already partake in this practice to obtain skills such as Second Wind, Sentinel, Sacred Prism, etc. etc.
The only one on that last that makes total 0 sense to me is the WHM (CON + GLA). Seems like that could almost be some kind of error, as PLD is GLA + CON... It only makes so little sense because there are few abilities from GLA that a WHM would ever want, but I am not certain if Sentinel comes from GLA that early and if it does that is likley the reason. And maybe to aide in solo play for WHM.
About the BLM + PUG though, I'm happy about that lol. Featherfoot and Second Wind for BLM will be VERY beneficial, especially with spells being able to be interrupted much easier now.
Black mage Thaumaturge lvl 30+, Pugilist lvl 15+
Did not see that coming.
This may be a bit far fetched. What if we get job specific traits which change some of the cross classed abilities, weapon skills and spells? Maybe nothing as elaborate as enabling a WHM to AoE Rampart without the added enmity but you never know!
I like that. Makes a lot of sense. Also, for some people wondering why you need certain classes for certain jobs...well, they only have a certain amount of classes to choose from. For one thing, conj + thm won't give you white mage, that does sound more like red mage. But, if you think about Clerics, they have pretty good defense and could even wear some heavy armor...so maybe that's what their going for. Tell me you wouldn't want to be a mage in some plate armor.
I am very confused about the new jobs. When I first heard about them I thought they would be like FF XI. At lvl 30 you do a quest and unlock the advanced job. You then level them from level 1. Then I heard that they start at lvl 30 so you level them from 30 to 50, hmm. Then last night I heard that if you are a CNJ 50 (which I am) you unlock to a WHM 50. Can someone say what they are going to be yet? Ive levelled both CNJ and THM to 50. There is not enough to do at lvl 50 so just level up some melee classes. Hope that when I get WHM and BLM I can be a mage again to level up.
Its funny that so many people want to see blue mage with a sword....
It's obviously because the only games Blue mage was EVER relevant (FFXI, Tactics advance) had him using a sword
way before that it was:
-after a wind crystal shattered
-using Stragos' "Lore" (He used rods, flails and daggers)
-using materia
-Quistis used a whip
-Quina Quen used a fork
-Kimahri was a lancer/blue mage
In fact Blue Mage with a sword is a fairly new concept
The reason I dont think Blue mage should be a sword user is simple
The armoury system is weapon based
As of right now... SO MANY possible jobs use swords
Of all the advanced Jobs I can name... at least 50% of them would seem best as sword users. But not every job can use a sword (balance), So SE would have to be creative with weapons for each Job.
Blue Mage is easy though... make it a job for another class.... People think it HAS TO have a sword but I think we've just seen that it doesn't.
OR
Add a whip class (Remember "Flayer" was in the .DATS?) and make Blue mage a job of it
Bayo is there any effect of the sub class being higher than 15, like in 11 for example a higher sub class gave you better stats.
Or is it just a means to an end to unlock the job.
Where did you guys get this info that jobs could only use skills from the sub class. I heard Yoshi-p say maybe he would do that or limit the amount of skills you could use.
