It's more like 6 - 8 minutes more for me, honestly I've just been getting really really bad brd players that stand there and doing pretty much nothing or don't know what to do to keep their dps up with WM on, I don't mind runs taking longer but when you see no effort coming from the other dps well you're doing your best it gets very frustrating as it's basically a free exp ride for them.

Just had a vault run with a terrible brd, they wouldn't help with the whm's mp either cause the whm was struggling at times and even when I popped bishop with promote the brd wouldn't help out even when the whm was at about 500-1000mp

A genuinely clueless paladin tank in DD. I ended up BLM-tanking for most of the dungeon, but the last boss just hit too hard. When we had a hopeless-looking wipe, someone suggested kicking him, and then he finally speaks up the first time. "what is shield oath? is it limit break?"
Eventually, we found the necessary abilities from his spellbook for him, and actually cleared the place.

That one person in Alex who never rolls on loot...

Also the SCH that pulled hate in A4 and then played like blah...

And the tank in A3 that wouldn't soak the swat, wouldn't let the other pick up the second hand. Spun the boss around, never successfully positioning it. And wouldn't let the other tank take hate in last phase...

But hey, I rolled a 99 and got three pieces of loot in three runs.

Ugh don't get me started on A4 xD did my run yesterday and no one was picking up the lines and the OT only ate orbs on "his side" of the boss. So there we were me a SCH and a random WHM picking up those lines and eating orbs all while healing the party and especially ourselves as we had the damn debuff the whole time this happened on the last phase :'(

Gotta say while i felt like a legend afterwards no one noticed our effort at all. Healing that run was harder than healing AS1 xD

A positive one from a last weeks. The last AV I need to hit 50 on Warrior. Tanking the last boss as my 10 month old plays with his toys next to my chair. He crawls under my desk, which is normal so I think nothing of it. Screen goes completely black. Hear the baby giggling. He had unpulged my powerstrip. It took 5 minutes for the modem to reconnect. Thankfully his god father was one of the dps and explained the whole situation. The party had a good laugh and I held him in my lap through the fight.

This moment after clearing a dungeon, where you played like a young god in, and you realize that nobody commended you :(

Or this party I had in Qarn NM, leveling AST. Had a WAR, DRG and SMN with me and mobs and bosses fell in lightspeed. I had a short DC during the first boss and thus died from death sentence - but neither boss nor the adds lived long enough to deal enough damage to make a healer neccessary. Spent 99% of the dungeon in cleric stance and trolling around with my cards and wishing I could commend everyone because this party was FREAKIN' AMAZING.

Had a Fractal run with this MNK and a BRD. Run was really slow.

We actually got to last boss but wiped 4 times because both of them were doing only 1/3 (33%) of the DPS they should be doing with their gear. They couldn't even kill adds fast enough (Even though 3 quick Malefic II's from me can kill them). I tried to help kill the adds but since their DPS was so low on the boss we weren't killing it fast enough so I was running out of MP to heal with because I was DPSing too much. I was on my alt character and she is not so well geared. Only i165 while these DPS were i180+.

Finally after the 4th wipe the BRD left and we got a SMN replacement who was doing proper DPS and he was able to do enough DPS to backpack the MNK for a clear.

Please DPS...if you can't do 70%-100% of your potential DPS at least aim for 50%....and if you can't do at least 50% of your potential DPS then maybe try a different job cause the one you are playing is not for you. You are making people suffer :/

It really was the worst expert run I've had since expansion. Even back when people were barely geared we still passed DPS checks.

Fractal run as BRD with PLD, DRG and SCH. The DRG suffered laggs at final boss and let me kill the adds all by myself as the SCH (a brillant stance dancer) was too busy healing. Got two commendations for throwing arrows like shit.

As a Bard main I find it almost insulting if the melee dps helps with adds. A Windbite and occasional RoD gets the job for the most part, at least with a 200 weapon. Alternatively the healer really should kill adds on their own, but it's not a major dps loss for Bards to multi dot.

Yeah, no. Those Adds are really not the healer's job. The randomness of their side of approach, the fact that they are not really close together, and the need for relatively high HPS, and cleansing of explosive, all talk against the healer wasting time with them.
I will gladly DoT the boss, put a Shadow Flare underneath him, and basically make up for most of the lost DPS on the boss you suffer because you have to deal with the Adds, but you can't make up for the HPS and cleanse I am required to do so we don't wipe.

They have low hp, throw out your dots on them and bane, Broil once, boom dead. Maybe I'm being an elitist, but you're making it seem like you're doing 500 actions in a second when it's really a simple add that'll benefit the Raid's DPS by you taking care of it.

Edit: Also remember they don't need to die immediately, so long as they don't reach the melee/tank and they don't tether to the boss (they reach the other side). I could understand if your healer is sub ilv165 or something, but that's the minority these days.

Did ex roulette last night - queued drg/mnk with my friend (i175 and i180 or so?) The healer was i19x, but the tank had an i160 weapon and a mix of law, 160, and lower level gear.. So clearly a new 60.

We went for one pull at a time and the healer dropped without a word on the third pull.. The poor tank tried to kite everything chewing on his face while we picked things off one at a time. We waited a few minutes for a healer to join, but when no e showed, we apologized and wished him luck on his next queue. Poor guy. :(

Yeah, story time about Alex turn 2.

Me and bf decide to do some Alex 2 and about 2nd run where he(SCH) had to run to cart to save our asses from wiping, we decide that 3rd will be the last one and tell them that we're not going into final room until we know who's driving.
We get group, final room and we stay just outside and I ask "who's driving?" As I am typing that "we're not coming into room until we know who's doing cart" tank pulls. We're both just "ok" and let them wipe(Yeah, we're assholes). Tank starts going at us being bad, think he called us "Brainafk healers" and cart is not needed in normal Alex (I don't know if that's true in PUG groups, but I rather not risk it on DF). We don't even have the time to explain ourselfs and this tank decides to fake dc because no one is kicking him. Group decided to kick him after waiting like 2 mins, get rep tank and I "brainafk healer" walk away with 3 coms.


p.s. if you regonize yourself here, I am sorry that I am a "brainafk healer" to you and that I didn't meet your Alexander Savage standards.

I may be able to nearly one shot the alarums with stone III, and yeah I will help to kill them (unless the tank is squishy as all heck...), but that doesn't make handling the adds my job as a healer.

My job as a healer is to heal.

I had an A3 run yesterday that got a bit messy very early on. I was in there with 3 fc members (paladin, summoner, and drk). Our drk dies early on, the boss goes for the whm and punches him right in the face, the healer goes down, other people start going down, the summoner is throwing out raises and I put up mana song for the healers, swap to tp song for the tank who's out of tp, back to mana song, to foe req as soon as the healers have mana, back to mana song again because the healer died again, back to foe req...doing everything short of throwing my harp at the boss while trying to dps and dodge and kill adds at the same time. By some miracle we manage to recover from this mess and clear the boss.

No comms for me. I cri.

I agree. My first post said alternatively the healer can kill adds, but I 100% go for them unless I'm with a healer friend. Also I always start with, "I'll take care of adds, melee/tank only attack one if they're near you" before the fight. :s

1) It's dangerous, switching out of cleric is not instant, if someone takes a bigger hit, or the Explosive gets put on, I might have to stop in the middle of the DoTs, which might cause them to walk too far.
2) They do need to die ASAP IMO, I hate when they take up a bunch of spaces, or even force me to move, with the mines, and AoE it can really get messy.
3) They can come from an absolutely stupid side, having to turn around and focus on them instead of watching the important thing is a bad idea. DPS can easily switch their focus, healers need to keep EVERYTHING in mind.
4) As said, the loss of DPS is negligible since I will DPS on the boss while you take care of the Adds. Since that lets me focus on the important fight, I don't have to move, and I don't have to switch targets. SCH can easily pull short-term DPS on par with a DPS, keep in mind that Cleric Stance is almost as potent as BfB.
5) Aetherflow stacks are not free, they can be used for Mana + DPS, clutch heals, or damage mitigation, using them for Bane on a boss fight is often not a good idea, especially when you plan to use a rather expensive skill (Broil).

I did a DF HL as PLD and got Snowcloak. The WHM would spam medica II before, during, and after every fight and mob. The BRD in the pty would run ahead and try and pull mobs without even waiting on me to pull them. Amazingly no deaths in the run, but even after asking the whm nicely and politely to stop medica IIing before a fight with a group of mobs, he still continued to do it throughout entire dungeon. My friend even re-asked the whm and explained to him WHY he shouldn't be so medica II trigger happy and it fell to deaf ears or a blank brain of some sort. Amazingly...I was able to hold hate throughout the dungeon, even with that BRD trying to be the tank hero for us. *face palms so hard hands goes through my skull*

That happened to me once in Neverreap, I just clicked Smoke Screen off. You want to take hate from me? Work for it. :D

Expert roulette as BRD, I ended up in Neverreap with a DRK, WHM and NIN. DRK did big pulls but wasn't able to keep aggro while I spammed my aoes (not even with quelling strikes up), and the NIN didn't use any aoe skills except doton (I know the ninja isn't that good at aoe spamming, but seriously...). Things fell incredibly slowly, I ran out of TP, used invigorate, ran out of TP again, didn't get any goad (this was the first time since I started leveling the archer(!) that I needed goad, and I didn't get it :'( ), thus sang army's paeon and stopped attacking until I had full TP again because everything was simply messed up.

...This happened.

I sorta laughed but... we had a wipe before and at that point he was trolling. He locked us out and after a few minutes he left.

Just a few moments ago I had one that honestly made me giggle. Running Sohm Al leveling my NIN. Coming up to first boss War asks for a goad. We were out of combat so I didn't but I did once he hit half tp in the fight. Healer goes off after the fight saying he wouldn't have run out of tp if I didn't goad him on pull. I explain I waited till he was half tp to goad and that I run out on my PLD sometimes even after being goaded. says it's cause I'm bad. Honestly could care less and reply "Lol cool whatever just here for XP. No one says anything the rest of the run till we are at Tioman. I run to drop a comet and the tank turns the boss into me as I'm running back and kills me. The healer proceeds to swiftcast holy over top of my body. After they beat the boss he repeats back to me "Lol cool whatever just here for Xp" and leaves. I laugh at the stupidity of it all.

i had a bad one last night. Guildie needed Stone Vigil, another guildie joined, i was heals. First tank managed to wipe us 3 times on the first two trash packs. It was surreal, people dying, ressing back at the start, mobs everywhere. That tank quit without nary a word to us. He was 42 and undergeared, dps had more health. Next tank 42 and less health... struggle through the first boss, wipe twice on the trash going to the second boss. I have healed DD, SV, Cutters, all the time, no issues, this group, healing like mad, i couldn't keep them up. It was like the perfect storm of stupid. i finally say "Runs like this make me feel like the worst healer in the world, please find someone else..." and as i hit leave i can hear they've engaged another trash pack... fml.

I got a SV normal the other day on my BRD.
First thing the DRK comments is "Hell, I hate this dun"
It isn't so bad, to my personal opinion...

But, hell if he wasn't right...

The SCH lost his fairy at least 3 times by moving... that means he placed it somewhere and forgot to make it follow again. He was slow on heals and the Tank was always on half HP points. No matter how I looked at it, the Healer had a healty MP pool, CS was off, and tank had Grit on him. Didn't check for the use of CDs but even so...

Well, the things were dying quite slow as well, despite my effort to use all my available toolkit at that level. I started to have some suspicions but...

At the moment we arrived to the first boss, the SCH got himself killed at the last 30%, the Tank managed to keep himself up for another 5%, to no avail, since he got offed soon after. So it came to me to chew my face away... I kitted it the best I could... downing it from the last 25% to a 3%... hats off to myself I guess? but lastly it was my turn to die. So it all depended on the NIN, he had LB at his disposal so it was a matter of 1 click... know what he did?

Spinning Edge... auto-attack, auto-attack, auto-attack... Spinning Edge... runs in circles... dies...

Tank just DCed himself after screaming "WTF". I noticed his leaving so I commented "Lets be real" and started a Vote Abandon... which was rejected... "oh well, take care :/" and left... seriously... the only thing these guys didn't fail at was at failing =___(\

Did leveling roulette the other day for my drg. Got Haukke Manor. Everything is fine. Then the healer used lb during last boss. =_= everyone was good on health. The adds had just died.... I was about to unleash it too. Like seriously? Whyyyy?

If that is the case say something. I know missclicks happen. Don't stand there and say nothing. Both me and the other dps were like why did they do that. Seemed to me like it was a new player who didn't know much of the shared lbs or they did it on purpose due to the timing they did the lb. Right as it got to level 2 lb and the final add died. I was about to let it rip on the boss but the lb was then wasted.

To top it off, I was left to get the lamps on that boss, the healer, though right next to one, didn't grab any.

Joined in progress on my conjurer alt this morning for healer in need.. the tank and healer were gone and as I came in, one of the dps said "I can't take this anymore!!" Right then a competent sprout gladiator joined, I protected us, and we sailed through the remaining mobs on the way to the boss. As we did, the dps revealed that their tank had been running Halatali naked. All the way down to the third floor.

No wonder their healer quit.

Trials, I get Ramuh hard(SCH). Bonus warning! At this point I don't even care because fight isn't hard and killing adds in any fight should be obvious (unless if told otherwise).
Everything goes well until adds... I notice DRG & WAR going at Ramuh like crazy and I start spamming "Adds!" in party chat many times, no response so I summon my fairy away so they're not getting healed (Yeah, I am asshole). Obviously it's a wipe because WAR just didn't switch to adds while DRG did(was too late anyway). At this point I am tired so I said "Well good F- job." Maybe F word was too much for some people because they started slapping me and say "Thanks for your input SCH!"

Think they weren't too happy with me not having fairy out at adds phase or even DPSing adds. I'm sorry but if you're not participating then you sure aren't getting healed by me for sure.
