Well you'd strum the harp as you reach for the bowstring to shoot the arrow of course, imbuing your arrow with magical properties, or it could function something like THIS (@2:50min), lol.
This bow-job sucks.
*wink*
I can do this game too! Lets look at your previous post . . .
Its not a bow, but if it were, that bow would shoot like poop
And those MNK weapons . . . look way way way too heavy to be effective
Heres a phrase you should be familiar with if you like video games, TV shows, movies, books, etc.
suspension of disbelief
Reading everyone nit pick about concept artwork is sad.
Kind hoped Bard wouldn't show up yet or would have shown up as a class all its own. but alas..... Apparently if you can use a bow you can also play music? Hopefully though it won't be the last music based playing style to show up. I'd like to see something akin to a bard, but perhaps with songs and pipes. ): But not as a job...
Jobs taking over kind kills it, idk. Personal opinion, inb4 shutupyou'rewrong, I'll miss leveling something from the ground up if this is what it's going to be like forever. Besides. Bard and archer? Can't wait to see how this will all go down. <_>
I agree.
Class should reflect weapon.
They've added a new weapon here (bowharp lol), so shouldn't that be a new class? I guess the fact that it is half bow is supposed to be enough to make it compatible with the armory system, but it just looks like they were desperate to get Bard into the game as quickly as possible.
Fine if we're going to further nitpick about what I mean, alright then I'll bite. Let me elaborate.
I find it hilariously sad for the people who are picking on the picture itself for 'long legs, long torso, it looks silly' instead of focusing on the designs itself. Worrying about why there are legs longer than they ought to be is ridiculously trite.
There's something to be said about style, and if they're expecting exact replicas of the models they wouldn't need Yoshida to draw anything for them at all, they'd just arrange models wearing the armour for the magazine cover. So why don't they? For the style itself.
which I don't understand. Because they can't do guns yet, guns are a class onto themselves. They could have done crossbows, or something to do with archery. To throw bard in like that is silly, but I have to admit the bow harp is kind neat looking. Still depressing to see the term bard tacked onto Archer though. D:
I know the perfect theme song for this Bow/Harp weapon:
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song~

I am of the opinion that jobs and weapons should be separate things altogether. There is a dichotomy between role-choice and weapon/ability choice. But SE, not recognising this, has chosen to blend both together in a nonsensical way.
It's difficult to get your head around archer becoming bard. They had to reinvent the entire weaponry to make it work because the armory system didn't allow it. And that's pretty damning evidence that Jobs shouldn't be tied to weapon and also further proves that bard should have been a class unto itself (since they had to make a new weapon for it anyway).
New weapon = new class with new set of abilities.
The whole thing is a mess now. Ahahah.
Bard was originally going to be a class on itself (you can check my Advanced Jobs post to see all the original classes save for the Scythe Class which I had to make up for Dark Knight job).
Which is why I am a little disappointed that Archer is taking over the job, while like many are saying the weapon looks interesting, I'd rather see Archer turn into Ranger or Sniper or something else that would fit the weapon type. Hell we don't see Lancer turning into the White Mage, and Conjurer turning into a Viking now do we?
I'm sure there's an amusing little story we'll get to see about how a group of Archers formed a band and became awesome as a result. ;)
There's no indication it's not just a bow. People are jumping to this conclusion that there's a harp attached to it because musical classes exist within Final Fantasy, and a part of this bow kind of looks like it could be some sort of stringed instrument, maybe sorta. It could just be a bow lol.
IMO, it looks much more like some kind of quiver attached to the bow than a harp, like so: https://7chan.org/w/src/129074693451.jpg
This Thread is more fun than the other one.
Im so glad I fell in love with dragoon on xi and have reborn into Eorzea as lancer. All those years were worth it now as I gaze upon the epic XIV combination of spikey gear and elegant pose. Makes me want to make once character of every race and rank up lancer to 50 on each one so I can have a personal dragoon army on my account. Thank you SE for making dragoon look so damn good looking!
its just a god damn fancy looking bow holy crap people
That harp looking thing is actually the dragoons wyvren ;)
I'm still baffled at how people only notice the harp part of that bow. the other half is a dagger. look close. I'm going to assume that the bow can pull apart for music and close ranged combat. But if you ask me, that is a fusion weapon, and I like it.
I don't think they were rushing to get a Bard into this game. I just think that it was a wise choice for an aspect of the game that is suppose to bring specialization and specific roles to party play.
What's the point of giving every class a unique job for party play if 4 of the jobs are just "do more DD than b4" jobs.
There has to be some distinguishing factor that makes the jobs play differently in a party setting. Otherwise we will just see everyone clamoring to the Job role that does 'slightly' more dmg.
I think its a good move to try to have each job (which will primarily be used for party situations) play differently and aid the party differently.
lets throw in he switchaxes too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A--S4dRi9g
that AF armor looks great. Can't wait to see it in game. Although.. I was really hoping for musketeer.. oh well. I mean..they have a guild already right?? Regardless, the designs look awesome.
The AF looks amazing. I can't wait to wear that white mage robe!
If archer becomes bard, and bard is DD.. I will not be playing bard.
*waits for last bastion RDM *
BTW those may just be artifact weapons. That bow may serve no actual purpose.
Well, they had to squeeze in the bard concept *somewhere*.Quote:
but a bow-harp does?
Better than having a harp-oon for lancer, isn't it?
