Titan is hard because your camera isn't zoomed out, not because of server-side delays

I thought that battleping and things like it were against the ToS?

Why would you think battleping or any other vpn is against the ToS? That's like saying a PPOE client that you are required to use to get access to the internet is against the ToS, because you also have to use that to play FFXIV.

Idk, I just thought it was that mentioned by a forum rep at some point. After all, it is a 3rd party tool that gives the player a distinct advantage over those that are not using such a tool. That's pretty well outlined in the ToS.

The internet is a 3rd party tool too. If you move closer to the server, and that gives you a distinct advantage over those that live in EU...are you against the ToS?

If having a better network connection to the server (however you get that) is a *distinct* advantage in this game... well this game is not long for this earth.

The internet is a requirement to play FFXIV, so it doesn't fit the definition of a 3rd party tool. Really, I'm just trying to find a bullet proof answer to whether or not such a tool is ok to use. I'd love to speed up my ping time, but not at the risk of my account.

And some people require *3rd party* software to get access to the internet.

What about people that have G19/macro keyboards, or macro button mice? Those all use 3rd party software to work. Would you get banned for using those?

What about XSplit to record my games. that's a 3rd party tool. Or Team speak to communicate with people I'm playing with?

Basically, you're not going to get banned for using a VPN to access the game. The clause is there to prevent people from using 3rd party tools to cheat. A VPN is not cheating.

Actually, there have been reports about people being banned because of the usage of Macro functionality from peripherals like controllers, keyboards or mice. It was due to this section in the User License Agreement:

Those are from people creating unattended macros. Having a keyboard macros that automates your Titan HM group shout isn't going to get you banned.

Again, internet access is a requirement to play, super fast ping time is not. I did a few searches, but didn't find that dev post I was referring to. I'm really curious now, because assuming that it isn't against the rules, I'd be interested in using battleping or something like it.

And some people require VPNs in order to access the internet. See where I've been going with this?

That's wrong. Such an advantage is not possible with Battleping. What Battleping can do for you is to bypass problematic sections in your internetroute, so that you get closer to all the players, that have a good connection out of the box. For all the people, that have a good connection to the gameserver, Battleping is useless, as it will change nothing for them. It is not modifying the game and it is not giving you advantages, the game is not designed for.
