People being "social" only because they NEED other people is not really a good thing to me.
I'd rather people be social for the sake of being social, which is something a portion of the playerbase seems to actively discourage with their rush mentality.

If you are so bothered by someone pulling only one pack of mobs at a time to make a condescending comment about it you are probably one of those people that is in a rush to begin with

Its also ridiculous to think that the people that "cant function in endgame content" are the people that would use duty support while leveling. The MSQ stuff was never going to teach you that anyway.

I swear when i read how obnoxious some "pro social experience" answer are, no wonder a lot of people rather play solo @_@.

As for me i play solo because i can :

1) Get every gears/minions/scrolls/whatever that drop.
2) Go afk whenever i feel like it.

Then again i do enjoy playing with peoples from time to time, even more the first day of a patch release, more good vibes and doing alliance raid with an alliance of first timer is most of the time hilarious.

You have to look at it from the business development standpoint that they got a nice slice of the the MMO players that like playing with others. I mean, you can go ahead and not buy it. It doesn't make it true. Especially since your logic only works if someone decides to blot out what "Market Focus" means. Grandma had a subscription to Spotify. Therefore is she a potential to play XIV? Trust me. The answer is no.

So from a business standpoint: What?

Subscriptions may be a very slight deterrent to attracting new people, but they are a key to retain people

It allows a reliable, steady flow of income for a developer. This way they don't have to provide players with frequent reminders of cash shop, or worse, reminders that game play would be a lot better if you had a subscription.

What good is getting people to try your game if they see its another f2p, player unfriendly model as *every* single one is. Even GW2, which is the best of the subless games (although its buy to play), struggles with this.

Square Enix does toe the line with some bs monetization (retainers, Im looking at you), but I love that the cash shop doesnt exist in game.

I also wonder if a large part of the reason for the trusts being added to MSQ stuff is that with 7.0 we will see a reset of sorts where MSQ is no longer required to start the new expansion as its no longer part of a multi expansion story arc

that way they dont have to be concerned with less people around in that content to queue with.

Eh, personally, I have no idea why someone would choose to play an MMORPG as a single player game. I do stuff on my own quite often, especially since I have yet to find a static for raiding and stuff, but I mean, until the new PvP came out, my solo experience was leaving my char in Limsa while I watched Mr Robot on my second monitor... PvP is a hell of a lot more fun with friends than with randoms that exclusively focus the enemy tanks for no reason whatsoever, Raiding is a hell of a lot more fun with friends than with inconsistent pugs that may leave at any second, Trusts take twice as long as a normal group, etc.

But yeah, I don't know, at least for me MMORPGs feel very shallow when I am by myself.
