A certain cutscene in Garlmald needs a trigger warning (MAJOR SPOILER WARNING)

There is a trigger warning already, its the games rating in case it hasnt already been said 20 times.
Please look at ratings before you play a game. Let me say it a second time.

Perhaps you are self-inserting too hard. You are not your character, none of it is real. None of these characters are real. This is called Fiction.
A video game should never have that much emotional influence over someone. If it does, then their sub money would be better spent seeking the help of therapy rather than funneling it into getting so deeply into a game that whatever the character see's give them some sort of problems and makes their mental health worse.

The rating is there to warn you that these things may not be suitable for you, so perhaps you should not play.
The rating is not there for you to tell them to adjust the game down to make you feel safe.

So.... I do agree to an extent that some kind of warning usually should be posted. I would also like to point out that video games prior to launching them posts blanketed disclaimers that "Has scenes of nudity, sexuality, alcohol consumption, violence etc etc"

While I will never ever discount trigger warnings or thoughts of suicide, the blanketed statement I feel is enough of a warning to know what you'll potentially get into when going into any kind of game. That particular scene I would label as "violence - general" because suicide in of itself is a form of violence. Regardless of what one may think. The WHO declared it as "Self Directed Violence" hence the blanketed warning of violence.

I do want to make that part clear, despite my often posting against sarcasm and trolls etc. These are one of the few topics I'll ever take seriously 100%.

Thanks for ignoring the part where I pointed out that this is far from the first time the game has something like this. We got our trigger warnings several years ago.

And I have known loss but I don't venture into media that I know has a reputation for showing subject matter that is disturbing to me. FFXIV has a strong reputation for dealing with the many unkind realities about death, and this is not new at all.

Trust me. I didn't ignore a thing. It's called empathy. Not everyone understands the warnings that also serve as a blanketed statement hence my explanation and the resources I posted. Not everyone thinks suicide is a form of violence.

What, like how Zenos killed himself? Haurchefant's blood spilling from his mouth as he says his last words with a hole in his torso? Tesleen's horrific death in which she was mutated into an abomination and literally vomited while doing so? Those are not good enough warnings about how death can be brutal in the game? Seriously?

If the above cannot warn someone then nothing will.

I'm that for saying the game has a reputation for how it deals with death and that this is far from the first time we see something like this? For stating simple facts? Really?

This thread is like someone complaining that Scream 3 has people killed in frightening ways after they had already watched Scream 1 and 2.

maybe don't play a video game that deals with real world issues?

Not at all, There is quite an easy way of saying
"There is a trigger warning in a cut scene in <insert quest name> when the character says <insert one line here before it happens> Skip the rest of the CS. There is nothing important that is said after this in the cut scene so you are missing nothing. If you are truly worried the dialog will be DM'd you."

That is what I have up on my FC discord. and it spoils nothing.

As someone who has battled suicidal thought and mental health issues (still am personally) that wouldn't be triggering, books, movies, TV shows, all do it. Anime does it. Its in the news everywhere, everyday, on the internet in our faces everyday. This isn't the first quest in XIV to even touch on this tpoc, its been done in side quests. Also THis isnt the first time Final Fantasy as a whole has done it. We kill people every which way as a form of game play. Like. If you as a person are so fragile you can't seperate fantasy from fiction, video games aren't good for you in the first place.

I genuinely hope this is a serious post btw. Because if its just bait to get people worked up thats p sick dude. Suicide isn't a joke to post on the forums for the sake of it.

Edit: The game is also Rated by Pegi, and the ESRB for a reason.

Edit 2: We've touched on Pedophilia, Attempted Murder, Murder, Manslaughter, Rape, Sex Slavery, Incest, And Last but not Least Suicide.

We saw a guy get his chest blown out, several people took their own lives. We've walked into hallways filled with Deadbodies. We're literally a Murderer, We murder people, a few quests even hint that we really really like it to. We enjoy kiling people and things.

But this is where you suddenly need a trigger warning? Especially when we go to the war torn country of our hated enemies we killed with extreme Prejudice for several expansions. the people whos lives we've actively been ruining for several expansions. And you didn't think our enemies in a war of several years wouldn;t rather kill themselves over working with us?

If they start putting trigger warnings on art, its not really art anymore.
