I didn't say actively but maybe that was a Freudian slip. I enjoy myself quite fine thanks, I've done slow content and fast content and don't really care which I get either. You really should stop assuming my stance is coming from the same one as the others you were previously arguing with.

The game doesn't make a lot of things mandatory, but if it literally gives you the tools to use (as Caurcas stated) why would you then decide to not use them? This can apply to lots of content in the game but Bozja differs a bit in the application of these trains of thought. I won't compare it to a healer not dps'ing but it feels similar.

Again, so am I. I've seen ice mages and non-DPSing healers, no-cooldown tanks (rarely to be fair) and I just shrug and carry on cause it's a game. I get that view and hey surprise I agree with you on it. But to purposely just decide nah I don't want to use this tool cause I don't feel like it is bizarre to me.

Not tilted at all but if that makes you feel like you're winning or something that's cool. I mean... I've been playing this game since 1.0, I think I've decided it's is for me and no crybaby throwing a tantrum is going to tell me otherwise.

That would fall under Differences in Playstyle I believe and if the majority of the party expressed the desire for you to use essences and you didn't comply and/or started throwing attitude, they would be in their rights to boot you, but that's moot since you can't kick from Bozjan duties if I remember right. Lucky for some folks

It sounds like people are going out of their way to not get them because they don't enjoy the content itself and are just trying to coast through.

Most people are reluctant to speak up about obvious problems in group content because it's all too easy for the terms of service to be weaponised against such individuals, even if advice is worded politely. It's also, incidentally, why the game itself can feel very sterile and lonely compared to the bustling chatter that can be found in other MMO's.

I try my hardest. Im not elite by any stretch of the imagination - I havent even touched savage or ultimate content, have never done an expert run of a dungeon.

I’m like probably 80% of FFXIV players - I play the game to the best of my ability, try not to drag others down with me, and use my toolkit to the fullest extent possible. It just so happens that in Bozja content (including DR, surprise surprise) part of your toolkit includes essences. Much like 80% of XIV, I just want to do the content on a reasonable schedule - a run that, should everyone be using their toolkit to the best of their abilities, wouldnt take more than 30 minutes.

If *you* (not you, Sturm) don’t want to use *your* toolkit, then join or find a group of likeminded individuals to play the game the way YOU want to play it. I’m not saying to stop playing, I’m not saying to get gud, I’m saying that that play style is not the majority, so find your niche group and run the content for as long as you want. If it takes an hour, thats fine, because you now have a group of likeminded individuals to play it with. Or alternatively... marketboard, if you don’t want to farm.

You can buy a fragment that gives essence using clusters. There is one specifically for DR called Pure Essence. Get the right one. You should have at least a small amount of clusters from ranking up. You can't use this type of essence if you are only rank 10 though.

Farming them isn't hard. You can do a castrum run for deep essences, kill a few mobs near the aethernets for normal essences or buy them from the market board.

The content says before you do it to review your Lost Action setup, because the content is tuned with the assumption that Lost Actions are being used, including essences. Ignoring this makes the run slower and less fun. My first run felt like it took over an hour and I didn't do it again for months I was so put off.

It's seriously not hard or extreme to expect some kind of essence in DR.. I brought 2 of my FC members into Bozja way back.. during the time they were doing the opening quests in the zone me an another member were killing the fish and plants outside of the camp.. they had 50+ fragments before they were even asked to get their first one.. and one of them is a cutscene skipper (the horror I know.)

Seeing that one person say the 20% isn't good enough to matter on DPS is a bold face lie.. the 80% and 60% that tanks an healers get is there to make us meet up with your damage to be able to solo.. let me say it again.. WE MEET YOUR DAMAGE with these buffs.. if you'd use a 20% or whatever you'd be even stronger thrn the healer/tanks.. but it's a nice and lazy excuse for those who want to be lazy and sandbag their team in DR runs.. heck just use the tanking one from the starting zone mobs.. your healers will tank you when it dosnt cost 3 oGCDs to fully heal the group every AoE..

Do you need a job stone to queue into lv80 stuff? No.
Should you do it? Also no because it's griefing.
No essence is the same. Because you have much, much less potency than you could have.

Spending a bit of time farming or money on the MB doesn't prevent you from """chilling""", you'll just be able to chill across two instances instead of one for the time it would've taken to run one essence-less.

Is it bad I have no bloody idea what ya'll are talking about with essences?

Pray tell me none of the stuff you just listed off is relevant to the msq because I want nothing to do with the endgame grind. Not til EW launches will I deal with a second endgame grind(still raiding elsewhere).

I'm not sure this post is anything other then you being mad because you can't just play the way you want to. People want you to use essences so that you have the whole group benefit from.yoy having more dps (or in some cases something else like MP). You respect everyone else when you play with other people.
