And what a success it was.
So succesfull, fun and engaging they had to shut it down.

The open-world (arguably smaller than today's shadowbringer zones but still larger than 2.0 vanilla zones) was my favourite aspect of 1.0.
1.0 had less invisible walls and it felt organic. There are invisible walls around arbitrary items like small rocks.
I remember in 1.0, if a target was behind a small rock, it was out of your line of sight and you couldnt attack it. 1.0 also had loading screens, in the form of giant hallways between areas.
The only nice thing about 1.0 was some of the map design. Caves in La Noscea and the 2nd level of Thanalan. Black shroud was garbage.
Never played 1.0 but from what I've seen, I really liked the animations in general. Things like running and your character stopping with adequate momentum. Shifting your weight as you're about to make a turn. That kind of thing. Everything else can burn... which it did, technically.
I think the only thing that I miss from 1.0 is the graphics and Miqo butts. The rest is good riddance.
i am pretty confident the OP (Mario) was just a troll post and everyone took the bait. Mario was never there. It's like the "good ole days scenario" when, in reality, the good ole days were horrible
Personally, I am happy the Devs said no over and over. It was scrapped for a reason
Someone using 1.0 and masterpiece in the same sentence. Wow. Are we thinking of the same game here? I never played 1.0—I didn’t have a PC to even support it at the time—but I’ve heard from all the 1.0 veterans I know that it was anything but a masterpiece. “Hot mess” is usually how they refer to it, even if some of them have things they liked from it (e.g., animations, some of the zone designs, some of the content present, etc.).
I guess if you want to refer to a game that cost SE a crapload of money and hurt their profits by a 90% estimate a “masterpiece”, have at it. I’d wager to say that they disagree, though; and that’s why they dropped a red moon carrying Bahamut on top of it.
You’d want a lot higher than 2,000 potency to make up for the amount of GCDs you’d be losing during your full minute of standing around.
