Because going by the previous rules they did nothing wrong at the time in which they did it and it would help remedy the situation and hopefully align everyone into the new rules.

What kind of logic is this.
Breaking it down: Common courtesy/common decency is allowing other players on your server community to have access to a limited and desirable resource, when all anyone as a single entity would ever need, is one.
Buying an entire ward and telling everyone to shut up is... the opposite. You'd be actively removing 29 players and FC's from access to a system they could use, especially FC's -- with the Company Workshops homes offer for them. And no single entity ever needs that many plots. (To use the Mateus example)
At the end of the day, it's just being selfish and self-serving. I don't really care about the general attitude or feelings about this topic from the people who own more than they need because, frankly, one is more than enough and allowing more players access into a desirable system is better than letting sections of it be hoarded off by a few people.
So, yes, I do hope they do retroactively seize and figure out a solution some patches down the line. But I really wouldn't care if they only seized.
Yeah well this is how it's always worked in XIV. People will always be assholes.
Also I'd like to openly state that I once removed everything from an FC Chest, because in an old FC I was in a terrible person was put in charge of the FC, and they changed the rules that any money that was put into the FC was not allowed to be removed at all (Lost 3m back in the days of 2.1, back when that was a decent amount). They even used it to buy a medium plot without discussing anything with anyone else. Shit happens. If someone has permissions and decides to abuse them, it's the fault of whoever gave said permissions.
Do you know how many cases that SE has to handle a day that aren't about item related issues? Now imagine if people could be reported for taking items from the FC chest because they have permissions. Don't want people taking your stuff? Don't give them a chance.
Hell I've played a couple dozen MMORPGs, and there have been cases of stuff like this where either the company CAN do something, or CAN NOT due to the rules they have in place. MANY companies are against going in and editing peoples' accounts by removing items and then giving them to someone else. It's a VERY gray zone and many companies don't want to even touch that. It's not every single MMO out there that isn't XIV. So don't act like it's a blanket statement.
So instead of punishing those who weren't originally violating any rules by possessing multiple houses, why not instead offer a reward for giving up those extra properties? Like, oh, say....the max cost of the property and the cost of the corresponding housing permit? Homeowner gives up a plot, gets compensated by the game for their gesture of goodwill, and that plot eventually opens up for someone else. Everybody wins.
Well i can understand the motivation in your case but that didnt change the fact that stuff like that is simply wrong. I could also go to the supermarket, grab something and leave without paying. Maybe i even didnt get noticed but its still wrong. Of course Guilds should manage their rules properly but you can allways have a black sheep in your ranks. I know a chase from WoW where a member that whas in the guild since it whas founded and never did something bad to the guild (of course as one of the first members he had veteran rank or something like that) one day took everything from the bank and left just because he had an disagreement with an other member. How do you want prevent something like that? No matter how hard you try if bad luck hits you stuff like that can allways happen. A GM restored later after a chat with the guild most of the stuff (thats how chases like this should be handled), but i dont know what happend with the stolen items (maybe they where deletet, maybe he could keep them no idea).
The housing system in this game needs a total revamp. The changes implemented with 4.2 are like putting on a bandaid.
I get that coming up with and building a brand new housing system takes time, but there is so much more they could have done while they worked on better solutions. Just off the top of my head:
- allow personal houses to be safely converted into fc houses
- allow more than 4 players to share a personal house (including the owner's alt's)
- allow players sharing the personal house to purchase their own rooms in the house
- allow workshops/airships in personal housing (maybe)
I own a personal house and would have no need to buy a second house for my FC if I could do half of that with my personal (demolishing my plot and buying it again wasn't something I wanted to do for reasons that would make this post too long.)
So your solution is punish players who did nothing wrong in the first place? Place your salt and anger towards SE and not the players who used the system as it was designed.
Uh wrong mister. Its 100% SE who caused the problem by not having the ability to foresee players would buy more houses on alts. If they had implemented a proper resell system in 2014 when housing was added we would never had a problem with flippers too.
No. Its all SE fault for making a bad system, not players who followed the rules.
Yes but they won't. Imagine the backlash and problems that would accour.
I mean yeah! That what keep me sane at work :D
I don't see why to take the houses from them, they earn it already and some from a time when it was way more expensive a plot and harder to get gil.
