Whoops. Fixed it. I did indeed mean Antitower. And yeah, usually no issue at all. I'll move a bit if I'm dpsing and don't want to turn or if I'm healing Ill turn my back...just wasn't expecting someone to suddenly turn it at us so we all got hit (including him).

GREAT ONE OMG: (You can tell I love this threat btw because it helps me blow off steam. |D Only thing that keeps me moderately sane as a healer.)

So I was healing an A7 where people just COULDN'T DODGE TO SAVE THEIR LIVES. We wiped TWIIIIIIIIICE, all below 10%, because tanks wouldn't move the boss far enough away from the cat AND WERE RUNNING IN THE WAY OF THE BALLS (yes, actually running in their path), and DPS were equally as horrible at dodging the balls. (Oh by the way, priceless statement from one tank: "How do you expect me to dodge the boss's attacks when I am the TANK?" LMAO! QQ; ) The second wipe was after I had brought the group back from a near wipe when the SCH couldn't keep everyone alive after I was sent to the "dungeon", was forced to pop ALL OF MY CDs except for CO (because I couldn't stand still long enough for it to land anything) to try to salvage the run, and FINALLY died after being clipped by the ball trying to focus on getting the tank to non-onehit health values.

At that point, I really didn't want to stick around for a 3rd disastrous run, so I did a vote abandon, because of that and because I wanted to go grab something to eat. (5:00 PM, haven't eaten all day. :/ ) Figured some people would share my same sentiment (usually with DF it's 3 strikes and we're out for me, but I just wasn't in the mood for a third run today), but INSTEAD... One of the DPS says, "...Why don't you do your job and try healing instead?"

LOOOOL??? I didn't let Asp. Helios fall off except for when I was focus-healing the tank for a few seconds before the swap, or someone was in one of the boxes and couldn't get the refresh. I was AoE healing whenever was necessary. I wouldn't let Asp. Benefic fall of either of the tanks, even when one was OTing. I was constantly popping cards. I was constantly popping CDs. I was running out of MP because I was RESSING SO MUCH and, at some points, trying to keep certain people alive by spamming Benefic IIs. That DPS says I was just standing there. Not doing anything. And not ressing people either, just letting them die. He said my lack of MP was because I died so much and had to be ressed (correction: I died twice outside of the all-out wipes, one of which I'll admit was entirely my fault). One of the tanks must have been his buddy (the one that made that amusing statement earlier) because he jumped in with the same shit too, which was so lulzy considering he died to some really stupid shit that neither I nor the SCH could have saved him from (see above).

Naturally, when someone fires at me and I don't deserve it, I fire back. I was even defending the SCH. Yet for some strange reason when I decided to make a snarky comment after we cleared, the SCH said I was "being a child"? Idk if they thought for some strange reason I wasn't healing too (especially after I could keep everyone alive solo when they were picked up and they COULDN'T the one time I was), or if copping attitude back to assholes wasn't one of the tools in their healer toolkit, or what. But... *shrug*

So I may have made everyone in that run hate me because I "wasn't healing", and because I wasn't afraid to tell that DPS and his tank buddy where to shove it. Sure, I could've just "taken the high road" and not said anything there at the end. But I'm not that classy. Especially when people aren't classy toward me. ;3 In the end, I got the crank I needed and don't need to run A7 again all week, got some quality entertainment, and everyone lived despite me apparently standing and doing nothing, so I DON'T CARE. <3 (And ironically, on the run that got the clear, I had to pop FEWER CDs to keep people alive, and only had to res the one herpaderp tank once because the other tank didn't swap fast enough.)

I will admit when I could have done something differently though, and that was just before our second wipe (literally a couple seconds before, the AoE took us out) and I thought I could still salvage things without trying to use healer LB3, since I had all of my CDs popped. Was poor judgment on my part, and it was a split-second do or die. Unfortunately, we died. Guess I suck those wrecking balls. (But seriously... HOW do people accuse you of not doing something when anyone with two eyes and a brain can see that you are? Ffs... I have no idea what these guys' definition of "doing nothing" is... and I don't want to know how they define "doing something", because that would probably entail sacrificing your firstborn to give the group immunity from everything they'd otherwise facetank and die from.)

Ok, never though I'd post here since I usually have really chill DF groups or just roll with FC mates.

First things first. I don't main a healer, I main bard. And I, in particular, don't like to heal anything more than the standard dungeon. So when I get lured into doing a MS roulette with FC mates, this is what happens:

We rolled Castrum. Party set-up, while I don't remember what the dps was (honestly I don't care, as long as they do their jobs), but my mates were tanking (DRK/WAR respectively). I was on Scholar, because I needed the xp. However, the other healer was a Scholar as well. Now, I checked their gear and they were a new lvl50 (wearing the ilvl90 class gear and such). I was rocking a complete Augmented Ironworks healer said, so I said in chat that the other scholar could dps, since I could soloheal. Ignored. I thought to myself 'oh boy...'. And he was the most annoying scholar he could ever be. You see, I like to keep Galvanize up at all times, especially during the more hectic fights. Guess what the other Scholar did?

He consistently overrides MY GALVANIZE! My heals are goddamn bigger, don't remove my better shields!>.<

Best part is, he completely ignored everything I said in chat.

Now, we cleared everything without much issue, but I was getting annoyed a bit. That is, until we hit the area right before Livia (the searchlight area with all the colossi). This is where my Warrior mate goofed (which she admitted to after we finished). She decided to pull EVERYTHING in that area! You guys remember that little area with the cannons? She thought it would be a good idea to lure all the mobs there (even though the majority leaves after deactivating the searchlights). However, only one cannon was left, which promptly got destroyed. Chaos ensues. People were taking loads of damage from AoE's and I had the feeling I was the only one healing, Lustrating people, keeping up Galvanize and resorting to Physick since Eos got killed in there somewhere. I got aggro from some mobs, I died. Got Raised by the other healer though. The one positive thing he did during this run.

We went on to Livia, cleared without issue. Cleric Stanced during final fight.

Anyway, the above just reminds me why I never play healer in anything other than standard 4-mans.

- Healers who dont know their skills - like a Scholar would be able to overwrite your stronger shield. That wont happen. It is an Astro thing.
- Healers who insist one one person is a solohealer but aren´t flexible enough to take both roles.
- Healers who judge the other players by gear before they even have seen if they can play well or not.
- Healers who panic casting sub-par spells and blame the other they couldn´t save the day.

I'm sorry, was that a stab at me? I said before that I do not main a healer. Besides, Galvanize can be overwritten by one cast from another scholar. I've seen the timer refresh. And all I've seen the other healer do was derp around, going into Cleric Stance and then just do nothing. He was looking to be carried, and wasn't new to the instance (no new player message pop-up).

I've seen plenty of healers act like you do, get off your high horse.

It's my horror story, deal with it. Obviously you didn't read the whole thing.

The only way to overwrite a galvanize by a SCH is to cast a stronger one. Either galva or succor.
Only the AST can effectively remove it with his spell (forced overwrite without looking the amount of shield)

Since you were both ilevel synch up the only factor was crit

In 8man if the other heal you can just go DPS and act as sub-heal in time of crisis
Otherwise kill some thing X3

More to the point, Main Story Roulette can be healed by both fairies completely. Scholar can stay in cleric stance.

See, this is more constructive. I'll keep it in mind.

Anyway, the reason why I didn't Cleric the entire time is because I'm absolutely not comfortable 'healing' 8-mans. Usually there's too much going on for me to handle at once and Cleric Stancing in that situation doesn't help me relax.

Also, there was no ilvl sync for the other healer. He was wearing his ilvl90 class gear so my heals *were* better by default. He even had half my health...

I understand where it came from. I really do. But that comment just infuriated the hell out of me. I don't know everything about every healer job because, again, I'm not a healer main. I'm still learning, even though I'm almost lvl60. Having someone be an ass to you is really off-putting.

Whenever I'm off healing SephEx and get one of those slow main healers on the green/purple blob -> AOE -> AOE section in phase 1.

You know the ones. They're terrifying. Swiftcast is a thing - use it.

Healers that bash and nitpick other healers' horror stories.

Come on. Correcting bad information is one thing, but none of us get to decide whether another person's horror story is valid or not. They weren't name-shaming. This is a venting thread. For someone who's not 100% comfortable healing, that was stressful for them.


My recent healing horror story: healing M4 last night, helping FC and LS mates get their weekly loot. Our first couple of runs went fine, and I was on SCH. Then we did a SCH/SCH run that made me switch to AST for the buffs. We wiped. And we wiped. And we wiped. Between the tank not swapping, dps not burning adds resulting in debuffs, and just general chaos, that one was an abandon. I switched to WHM for power heals, got an AST co-healer, and that one was two more wipes before we managed to clear it by the skin of our teeth.

Or Lightspeed if you're an AST: I usually save my LS pop for that exact spot, unless there was a previous "oh shit" moment. \o/ It's like having an unlimited Swiftcast for a few seconds~. Glorious. :'D

You know the good ones from the bad ones at that point, the ones whom sit on Swiftcast in just about all content for only raises don't seem to get it.

AST Lightspeed shines at this moment too!

I have tanked Shiva before, the other healer died, I ressed the healer, the summoner and then reraised the tanks because half of our party died. It wasn't that difficult though, just surprising!

I like to use Swiftcast for the first blob/AOE/AOE and Lightspeed for the second (assuming you don't hit a third blob set because you have decent damage). This lets me keep Swiftcast for Raise in case someone makes a mistake during add phase.

But yes, Lightspeed is incredible in SephEx, especially during that last phase with the wind where it's just AOEAOEAOEAOE.

This post is more for apologizing for being some poor healer's horror story. I can't remember what we were running, it might have been A3, might have been a dungeon it's been a while. But I remember I was talking to a friend of mine and adequately distracted but I've managed to talk and tank all the time so no biggie right? Wrong. First pull didn't realize I was on the wrong hot bar, tried to pull a mob with sprint, wonder why I ran right by the mob so fast, but oh well no big deal I'll circle of scorn then flash.....wait why did I just cover and divine veil? Somehow it STILL didn't click to me that it was me screwing up and not the game out to get me. After the wipe the healer goes "So....drunk tank?" Thankfully I figured out what the problem was, apologized, and the run went fine from there.

There is a thing that healer use all the time which is pre-cast
It's only a matter of timing
Once you learn it, it's piece of cake

You can save multiple people if they get clip damaged by those green/purple puddles by swift casting/lightspeed your AoE. It's about using the right skills at the right time.

As the main healer, there is literally no reason to not Swiftcast there, even if only to be safe. It'll be up again before anyone has a chance to die unless someone is DCing in the middle of Ein Sof. Why leave your skills on CD? Use all of the tools available to you, especially when it has such a short CD, like Swiftcast does. Something like Benediction with its huge CD? Sure, save it. Swiftcast?

Not even once on something as predictable as phase 1 that we all sleep through.

Also, precasting blobs? There's the potential that you'll miss half of your party without Medica II. Even with SC and Sprint I still sometimes miss the ranged DDs who don't come in quickly enough (usually the BLM who just park themselves where they land with green, outside of Medica/Helios/whatever range). Then you risk having them die to the next AOE because you were too damn stubborn to use Swiftcast.

Just had the WORST M2 NORMAL RUN IN EXISTENCE >>;

The list (in no particular order):

1. None of the melee move for shadow ninja clone AoEs and a bunch of people die on Boss #1
2. Melees not moving after land mines drop on them on Boss #1 and exploding land mines to paralyze all melees
3. PLD that didn't know how to give shared beam on Boss #2
4. Some reason 3 melee DPS died to tank buster beam on Boss #2 because PLD tank decided to 'voke on flank when tank buster beam was about to go
5. Five people in four circle orb on Boss #3
6. SCH partner + I happily hanging out in two orb circle on Boss #3 when DRG decides "HEY I WANT IN ON THIS PARTY TOO" and jumps in a second before it explodes and dies.
7. MNK on boss #4 with Elemental Jammer debuff decides he wants to soak all the melee
8. MT dunno how to move boss #4 after ground AoEs prevent rear/flank attacks on boss

There's probably more that I missed but yeah, I think that sums up the WTF factor.

At least I got my Bolt?

Why is there always a third wheel jumping into the 2man circle when you're prepped for it way ahead of time D:

Don't worry, mentally 5-year olds like to hang with people with similar mental capabilities.

One thing that really irked me: once on Cuchulainn, all pts were doing poorly, DDs needed to grab all dot effects possible (me whm & co-healer sch), by the time boss does the unavoidable AOE vomit spit 1 pt completely dead, the other has 3 alive, our pt is alive but semi-low hp > black lung > not enough abled bodies > we wiped.

2nd try, i ask sch if she could help w/ leeches so instead of casting esuna 5-6 times in a row while she just feeds her heals into the high dmg dots endlessly, i could help heal other pts instead. 2 min later, sch goes "sorry you guys are stuck with an inadequate healer" then quites. i was confused and stunned lol... i mean, i even explained why+asked nicely (:X) if she knew she was inadequate, wouldn't she want to attempt to be more adequate? @_@;

The run itself turned out fine after that, new ast showed up almost instantly and i could help with MT heals and also raised other inadequate healers w/ no prob :p

I do not need it and prefer to handle it by pre-casting since all attack are easy to prédiction.
I mean as diurnal AST I never had problem.

The only 2 time lose someone, that was the bard who forgot to pack and stay out of range
And the smn who did the same.
That was not a casting problem just a LAZY player problem XD i won't single heal them and maybe losing my tank

It's very easy to move in-position after the puddles to hit everyone with Medica/Helios. Thanks to two great skills in this game:

Light speed or Swiftcast Medica/Helios > Medica/Helios.

You can Tetra/ED instant someone who is low even before AoE heals. The tank buster comes after the two AoEs and you can Disable that one if it's up, so that isn't true at all about possibly losing a tank. It's called knowing the script of the fight and reacting to it. But saying you won't Swiftcast because you, yourself, didn't see it work is a lousy argument to make. Plus White Mage only has Swiftcast. The job of a healer isn't just to heal but to try save any situation within your power.

You have plenty of time to hard cast a cure following the puddle tank buster and the two AoEs, and don't forget the virus rotation. None of them need an instant if the MT uses cooldowns, now if they get a forth due to DPS it could get rough. But alas take full advantage of the Tetra cooldown when neccessary, it's not a repeat tank buster hit.

Derp, this happened a couple weeks ago when I was helping some FC members get through ToQ as a SCH.

I had been reading on the forums about people saying that you should place your fairy near the tank, right? So,for the first boss, I knew the optimal place would most likely be in the center,since we'd be running to the platforms around the boss once it starts using DOOOOM on us. Silly me, I decided to place my fairy first, thinking that I should set things up so that way I wouldn't get too sidetracked moving it once the fight starts (since i feel derpy doing that due to the fact that it looks like I'm just standing around doing nothing for a few seconds).

What I forgot was the fact that pets gain aggro. As soon as my fairy moved to the center, it aggroed the boss, starting the battle. Needless to say, my FC mate now jokingly tells me to not place my fairy. xD

Uurgh, I've had that happen to me a lot. Generally it's when a Machinist sets up their turret - you know, the only exceptions to that rule for some reason - and I go "Durr, I can Machinist too."

Not exactly a horror, more of a derp and I was the healer in question.
When you farm a dungeon so many times, you automatically go into zombie mode. Didn't realize I was spamming Medica instead of Stone 3 from start of RavEx to Prelude's midcast, since the buttons are literally on top of one another.

My FC mate isn't letting me forget that in a jiffy :/

I... I did the opposite of this, once.... went as healer, and in the same boss mechanic with the circles, the BLM positioned themselves, specifically (I could see the fine adjustment of movement to put people in the circle), to place a few of us in the circle to meet the requirements... someone ran in to include themselves and for what ever reason, I decided I couldn't count and stepped out, thinking there were now one too many.

There wasn't. :|

Well, people make mistakes, and you can tend to tell the honest mistakes from the "Damn, these people REALLY DON'T KNOW THE MECHANICS" mistakes >>; Pretty much after reading that entire list of "Um, wat?" it's pretty clear that despite there being only a single new person in the run, no one really cared for mechanics either..

New horror story:

When you're giving all your Arrows to your WAR OT in M4 normal because he's topping the DPS chart in P1..

And you continue to give him Arrows throughout P3 because the two DPS above him are both SMNs and don't really get the greatest benefit from Arrow.. (and they're only ahead of him by about 100 DPS).

*Shakes head*

Admittedly, this run at least went decently smoothly because the DPS mostly knew the mechanics (We did have one of the pentacle thingies explode though).

I do believe I did win my Crank here with a roll of 1 though. (YESH!)

Long story short A6 run with the most useless party ever full of people doing dumb things like stepping on mines and not avoiding easily avoidable things that get them a debuff. That wasn't the annoying thing though that was this ridiculous potato brain healer who spent the whole time saying I'm not healing and pointing out that they have next to no mana while I have 90% or more. I told them to use assize and shroud to manage their mana to which they reply they already used them and then somebody pointed out that I'm healing plenty and they were just spamming heals pointlessly to which potato didn't listen at all. It seems to be a lot lately in DF that I get a Co-Healer who is some heal spamming moron. Bis EX is a real special zone for the worst kind of Healer just constantly spams medica II and makes the Tanks life difficult while not understanding something as simple as firing the Dragonkillers. "I'll take the left one and the shield just handle the right" "ok" *thirty seconds later* "Why are you coming to mine!? The other one!" *try again this time marking them as A and B and they agree to take B" *thirty seconds later* "WHY ARE YOU STILL RUNNING TO THIS ONE!?"

Just had the worst experience as a sch with my own IRL friend as the tank nonetheless. We were doing roluettes and we eventually made our way down to the leveling roulette and got dusk vigil. After the mammoth he pulled the two guys and pulled allll the way down to the locked door. I say to him over voice chat "oh shit I don't have enough healing to heal you." Those mobs in dusk vigil are no joke, they hit really freakin hard. We all wiped and at first me and him laughed about it over voice chat. The second time though nobody gave me a chance to summon eos despite me telling wait to my friend (my swiftcast was on CD from the wipe... Yeah people charged ahead that fast) and this time he says don't worry he won't pull as much. He pulls everything but the guys near the door this time, we die with me trying to heal without eos about 7 mobs in dusk vigil that hit hard and the drg was taking a lot of damage for some reason. We laugh it off again but as the dungeon goes on and on he starts placing more and more of the blame on me in both situations. By the end of the dungeon I felt like shit.

Then to put icing on the cake, he brags about how the DPS gave him both the commendations (I know he's right because I got 0). I played one more match with him regrettably, void ark. On the second to last boss for some reason my internet had a lag spike out of nowhere which caused me to die from the corrosive bile. My friend said "a healer dying, how shameful dude"

I'm not sure if I'm ever going to logon again, the whole situation almost single handedly ruined the game for me. It happened a few hours ago and just thought I'd vent, sorry if it sounds whiny.

As for your friend sounds like you need to really talk to him (some people like to "kid" around like that to people they know, if you know this was not what he was doing.. i'd seriously bring it up to him)

Don't let one person ruin a game for you. This would be true if it was just some DF tank, and it is true even with a person you know RL. And sometimes online game brings out the worst in RL friends. Talk to him about it if you will, and if he doesn't seem to see a reason just don't play with him for a while to cool it down. There is lot of other people out there in MMO ^^ .

Ever since the mentor system was introduced, I've encountered a few "mentors" who have been the bane of my White Mage existence.

One recent example, in Castrum Meridianum, a Machinist "mentor" decided he wanted to play tank. He was running around pulling the trash before the tank. I was struggling very hard to heal him, the other healer was only using regen and Medica II the entire time (and using holy too far from the mobs to actually even hit them), and the poor tanks were trying to control the mobs. We almost wiped.

Right before the final boss I decided to stop healing this "mentor" tank-wannabe and let him die. And refused to raise him. The first time I've ever done that.

And I've encountered tank "mentors" in low level dungeons who think they can pull all the trash at once and expect me to heal with 5 or more mobs on them. With only "Cure" and "Medica I" it just isn't going to happen.
