Main Scenario Restriction Bloodstorm - Very Very Bad idea.

My question...if in earlier parts of the main story from ARR covers what happened in ala mihgo when the garland invaded...why should they have to complete all off ARR and HW when a bare fraction of ala mihgo's story isn't even relevant through much their main story. Bits and pieces have been hinted at yes...but SB can cover all of the history to progress it's own story.

Also...when ARR was launched those who did not play 1.0 we're not required to do or have any prerequisites in order to get into ARR's main story those of us who did play ARR were able to continue where we left off and there were no issues. So how is it now there is an issue if players join the game and start with storm blood and not do the main story for ARR and HW???

If we are going to force the players to play through ARR and HW main story then I propose any new jobs that we get released with storm Blood start at level 1 and not level 30.

It's because of involvement with other characters (who have drastically changed or been newly introduced), dialogue referencing previous encounters, and the overall plot. The 1.0 players and 2.0 players co-existing in the plot is because it doesn't actually affect much besides a few lines of text. Nearly all of 2.0 had next to no references to a 1.0 player that beat the old MSQ, besides the beginning (I think) and the very end of 2.0.

Think about with HW and the plot involved with getting access to Ishgard. The issue exists simply because of the fact that throughout the whole game 1.X and ARR story, they barred off their lands from outsiders. Mind you, this is only an issue so long as the devs elect to make lore the primary deciding factor on these limitations. They could one day just forego all of that for the sake of ease of access, like removing MSQ reqs or allowing DRK/AST/MCH creation from character creation.

Currently though, it's not how they want the game to be. Them eventually doing that however, would not be a surprising move in the future, as that's just how games in this genre eventually become. When something is still relevant to the design, it'll stay for creative reasons (usually). If it becomes stale, old, or impractical with other changes, then creative reasons usually take a back seat to practical ones.

I don't understand why people think that unlinking the MSQ from dungeon and job access will somehow mean that 1) no one will do the story and 2) no one will do the dungeons.

Have y'all played any other MMO ever?

I think the opposite argument is where a lot of opposition comes from as well. Even if they don't do what you want them to, it doesn't mean that everyone will suddenly stop playing the game, nor does it mean that all new players will become overburdened and quit purely because of MSQ reqs.

Basically, the arguments are pointless here because it's 1) not a big deal to the overall game (only to select individuals, like yourself) and 2) the devs clearly want this as part of their design for now. You might say I'm speaking for them, but this is pure logic at play here that centers around the basic idea of creative freedom and weighing pros and cons against production and the consumer base. The odds are stacked against you, at this time, just based on that.

You're definitely speaking for them, and falsly, as Yoshi has said explicitly that they want to ease off on the restrictions to content, as quoted by a couple posters previously in this thread.

It is a big deal. It very nearly drove me to quit the first time. I would definitely have not even bothered if I'd had to go through two expansions worth of content to get to the job I wanted.

yeh ive played a lot of mmos (asherons call 2 , eq 2 , age of connan , star wars , rift , guild wars 2 , the secret world , ), and ffxiv is the 2nd mmo that hooked me up again :P coz its not a mindless grind all the way up to 60 , coz i have the MSQ ^^

and i must say from all mmos that ive played so far , the secret world had the best community from all , really helpfull and nice to new players ^^

If speaking logically is speaking for them, then yes, I am. I know that concept is very hard to grasp, but logic does occur among open minded people. I know about the statement by him, I even said it myself in an earlier post (I think). Again, logic is at play with that one. Him stating they'll ease off on restrictions doesn't mean they'll do it for everything. Hell, the new jobs may be what he's talking about, since that was the biggest criticism with HW at the time. We don't know. Your "falsly" statement makes no sense, given the situation. The only one falsely claiming anything is you. When what's actually going on right now goes against what you think is true, yet you think it's supposed to be otherwise despite no actual evidence to state so, you really do need to take a few steps back on your view.

As I noted, it certainly is a big deal to you. That doesn't mean it's universally shared. You're not the only one who found an aspect of the game that nearly drove you to quit. Practically everything, especially the progressive portions of the game (leveling, questing, etc), can drive someone to quit. Your situation is not special and is clearly not as important as you think it is to everyone else. I would think the fact that they're apparently going through with MSQ reqs would be a wake up call to you on not having a dire perspective, but I guess not.

Personally, I'd start them at level 40ish. There's no friendly NPC's that go higher than maybe 35 so they'd basically be slightly stronger than the average npc.
