About the EU campaign for maid outfit and fat chocobo

I don't have any hope left that we will get a comment from them. :( The only thing we can do is trying to keep this thread alive especially after the other two magazines comes out. Sadly since the magazine was sold out twice since people still took part in it, it probably was still a success. Maybe they hope that we will soon forget about it or maybe love them again after we get the other deals. (Or we EU customers are way to low of a number for them to care about..who knows.)For me this is just another negative point about this game which sadly increases more and more. If it wasn't be for the other people that I have befriended in this game I would probably log in way less than I do now.

Yeah, we're unlikely to get any additional responses at this point - and I suspect the team in charge of the campaign is very distant to the actual developers who may not even be aware as to what happened if nobody told them through a translator. The best we can do is keep this thread active, visible and speak out consistently - especially if the next Live Letter doesn't address or alleviate the more reasonable concerns outlined within this thread.

The lack of communication is very disappointing, especially since the responses we have gotten have felt very dismissive by ignoring our concerns. It is very telling that the magazine has been more forthcoming with information! It very much feels like we are not considered as important as the NA and JP regions, since we frequently gets treated as a sort of afterthought (less prizes in contests, less fun contests, underwhelming fanfest, etc, and now this promotion) by SE.

I've been wondering if we'd get a real response in the JP forum, that's if anyone knows enough Japanese to even make a post there.

Amazon knows how promotions work, and they deliberately decided to give out the codes when an item is ordered rather than when it's shipped (probably because they'd prefer cancellations to returns). The fact that a number of people would order and then cancel was built into their plan, and as long as the cancellations were within their expected thresholds, then it wasn't a problem.

They got lots of people to their site, browsing a category (video games) which they already knew those people were interested in, and got a lot of orders out of it. The vast majority would, like myself, have found and ordered something they wanted, giving extra revenue for Amazon. Some may, once on the site, have browsed around and ended up buying a bunch of other stuff as well: yet more revenue. Cancelled orders (provided it's before they're processed and shipped) don't cost them anything, so they really couldn't care less about a few people using this so-called "cheat" you're talking about. So long as they got lots of real, paid orders out of the deal, it's a win for them.


As to the EU promotion, I agree it's horrible in multiple ways, but lets not pretend that the Amazon promotion is the reason for it.

No Square Enix makes money from these promotions Amazon and Gamemaster pay to get the codes and in exchange they get increased profit as people have to spend money with them to get the codes.

The Amazon preorder was an oversight on their part
