Hmm, well, after trying more new group content, I think it's just me. Too bad, it's been a fun game so far.

I queued Cutters Cry inprogress on my 38 MCH to join this 2/4 group.
White: Warrior
Orange/yellow: Black Mage
Pink: Replacement dps - Bard

I had moved spread shot to another cross hotbar and I end up clikcing it on my vertical side bar where my pots are at. I used it several times only to have the bard take hate and kite them. I left my computer and came back to me dead ofcourse and I mistakenly clicked leave duty thinking it was return. I wish I hadn't done that for more laughs. :(
Man, I read all these horror stories and my only thoughts are:
The French seem like the BR of Europe.
My beloved WAR seems to attract a lot of....less than stellar players. And this saddens me.
Either my datacenter is actually not too bad, or I just run my roulettes at times when less stupid is playing, or else I've just been super lucky.
I'll toss a positive story in the mix while I'm on break.
Curse you SE for making NIN so fun...it's been my new addiction. Leveling roulette gave me Stove Vigil the other night. MCH, WHM and DRK plus me on NIN. DRK starts the instance by telling us that he's never tanked SV before. Ok, cool, I toss him a few basic pointers; go for the aoe-users first, use Unleash = to the number of mobs in the group on pull, and otherwise just ride the cooldown of Blood Price whenever you're fighting more than one guy and we should be golden.
Long story short, that's exactly what happens throughout the entire instance. Awesome. I give a few tips here and there for bosses or specific pulls, and the DRK basically goes "rgr" and then does it. Boom; great time.
About halfway to the first boss, I notice that the MCH is kinda going off on other targets. I ask if he wants me to mark a kill order for us to follow, and he happily agrees. And again, that's what happens throughout the entire instance.
Warn the DRK about upcoming Ice Sprites that hurt like mofos? He pulls em back to a safe spot and pops cooldowns as needed. Warn him about pats and he waits patiently to snag the group or the pat as the situation presented itself, and positions himself perfectly to avoid extra aggro. MCH and I chainsaw'd through each group of mobs, and the WHM had ample time to pop into CS and support DPS with us. It was a grand thing. And at the end, I walked out with 3/3 comms to the sound of effusive thanks. On NIN no less.
Later that night, expert roulette on my WAR brought me into AC hard. WAR, WHM, BLM and SMN. Wait....BLM *and* SMN?! OHBOYOHBOYOHBOYOHBOYOHBOYPULLALLTHETHINGS!!!!
And that's the story of how we beat AC hard in under 15 minutes. I think the WHM used an actual casted curative spell on me less than 30 times before the final boss. It was mostly medica 2/regen/asylum with the odd Bene here and there.
So, it has been a night of contrasts. Queue into Sastasha. Almost instantly, as a dps. The world must be ending. ;P I'm the lone new person. In a speed run, apparently. The whole way through, it was big pulls, no talking, zoom, zoom, zoom! Now, I'm not exactly complaining. It was superfast and efficient. Just, not much fun.
Next, Tam Tara. And it's a whole group of newbies. Wheee! This could have been so awful, but actually, it was way more fun than the first dungeon. That poor tank (GLA) had such a hard time holding aggro the whole way through, but he was trying. Between me, the healer, and the other dps, there were several fights we were trading enmity like a hot potato! It was hilarious! Only one death; the poor tank from a big pull in one of the side rooms. Don't think the healer was quite prepared for all that damage. Hellos at the beginning, congrats at the end, and comms.
DF is crazy. ;)
I was leveling my Mch in Stone Vigil when, after second boss, healer says bye and leave. I waited 2 minutes for other healer, then I leave to enter as Sch and help to finish that run.
At least dropped weapon for Mch in last boss :)
I've been levelling Dragoon the past few days, and going solo without my friend in DF. I've been getting a lot of bad runs full of quite frankly- Idiots. I'm still a noobish player, but after running these dungeons quite a few times, I've got the hang of a few things and learning a lot about my class. Unfortunately, this frequently happens late at night after 12am. Looks like I'll be posting here a few times a day aha. Look forward to it.
We all love Bliz III spamming BLMs, but yesterday a new low was reached. Stone Vigil Nm for lvling roulette, BLM stands at the back and spams Bliz 2, hitting nothing. Everything dying incredibly slowly as a result.
I ask if they are open to advice. No answer.
After a few mins I try to explain open with Fire III for stack then just fire2 til mp low then Bliz 3. From then on he stops casting anything at all, but is not afk, running with us but not casting anything. Maybe had one of us on follow.
Kick went through fairly quickly. Nothing against people learning, but when he appeared to just give up entirely, I'm not taking someone through who has us on follow
Oh right
So i queue Trails roulette for... whatever reason
get Seph
...i'd never set foot in there >.>
skip cutscene fast
other healer is watching and then says theyre new [too]
isaynothing
proceed into battle with the briefest of run downs of what to expect.
my co-healer dies a few times but tries their best bless
i messed the first time you have to hide behind him in P1 naturally since idk the timing
otherwise everything easy and fine, its a 1 shot run, i keep it going np
victory.pose
chat log betrays i was new ofc
>everyones reactions and faces when they see that
"Your new?" "WHAT" "Wait you havent done this as well"
im just like, nah literal first time never even watched vid desu
./leave
i laughed all night
Had the most awesome run of Fractal the other day. I queued as BLM and got in with a BRD who played Foe as much as possible and an AST who constantly threw Balances and Arrows on me. In return I stepped up my game and did the best I could to make use of it all and the dungeon went by so fast. Sadly I didn't get a chance to thank these two players for being completely awesome before they left.
See this is what I don't get. I love runs like your one, where everyone does their best. I had one last week, think Antitower, with me (BLM), a SMN, SCH and DRK. Everyone was on point, tank used CDs appropriately to not be taking much, allowing the SCH to do considerable dps, and we casters tore everything down, tank pulled big and never lost aggro on anything. Rare to get such a group in DF.
These runs are the most fun to me. I don't really get the mindset of people who think "its only a dungeon" and just half-ass it. OK, you don't need to be top of your game to get thru it, sure, but it's so much more fun imo.
Last night. Had to cap lorestones quickly before the reset, was missing like 16, so decided to queue Pharos HM. Damn. 20min run, so smooth, no wipes, everything downed really fast :)
I actually got seph for trial roulette as I was reading this. No newbies, but I just logged on and animations tend to be a bit buggy for me for a bit, surprisingly I managed to handle all the mechanics fine despite his model bugging out on me in p1. When he got big, everything was fine as well, except for one part, the tanks decided they love the color blue. We beat him no problem, took a little bit longer than it should have though cause the tanks died during every fist slam except for 1. But in the end we did beat him in 1 try, and no one was verbal about the tanks love for blue things.
Well, I was the duty finder horror story.
Don't go for trial roul as tank if you normally dps in Seph Ex, and then say youll mt because your fc friend and fellow dark knight is new to the duty (WHY DOES IT PUT YOU IN SEPH NORMAL EVEN WHEN YOU HAVENT CLEARED IT YET ANYWAY!!)
I fell off like a goof. Immediately once we went into phase 3. I feel so dumb because I was the only one who fell off, too. I wasn't prepared for the pounding to start immediately and I was positioned like an idiot. Gaah.
Reminds me of a recent Seph EX with some friends. One friend, who normally heals on his WHM, opted to go DPS on his DRG. The other friend, who is normally DPS on his NIN, opted to go SCH to support the other WHM.
Needless to say, when Earthshakers came, there was a fustercluck. Luckily they sorted it out after one wipe. Still funny to watch though.
So, this happened around 2 weeks ago when I was levelling summoner in Brayflox. This one tank was very irritable, maybe because I marked an enemy or 2 for him. He starts raging really hard in chat, my friend and I giggle like school children in the FC chat because of this. I mean, it sounds harsh, don't get me wrong. But I believe the healer was marking most of the enemies and that seemed to agitate the tank way more than what I did. So we get to last boss and my friend is like "I dare you to mark the boss", well I ended up listening to her, and marked him. Tank goes absolutely hysterical, literally just sits down in AoE, and doesn't move. He eventually left, so we were forced to vote kick. We stuck with him cos wait time was over 30 mins anyway.
Reading this back, I still feel bad about it. Turns out tank was on our server, so I messaged him and he was super cool about it. Unlike my friend who said "U MAD BRO", well at least he was in a duty and didn't receive it lol.
"Hey, let's try Stone Vigil as paladin! I'm close to level 43!"
First pull, I try to hold the mobs still for the monk. Suddenly the healer is dead.
They literally ran away and pulled more, which I didn't notice because I was so focused on not turning the mobs too much for the monk.
?????????????????????????? Why did the HEALER RUN OFF TO PULL MORE MOBS
Monk immediately goes "cya" and leaves, next the summoner, followed by the healer.
I'm... confused. Very confused.
Just had a run in A8 as a PLD. Co-tank was a PLD, with a little more health than me, so I check their gear, see an i230 relic among other things, so I swap to SwO and let them MT. 10s into the fight, I've ripped aggro off them, much to my surprise, so I pop ShO and take over tanking, and start watching them for a bit. They're spamming un-combo'ed Rage of Halone. One of the healers notices this as well, and asks them what's with the Rage of Halone spam... no answer. Had some mishap with the tankbuster (one of the healers not paying attention) and the adds, and we wiped... Suffice to say, the other tank didn't remain in the group very long.
Now, I'm curious to know how exactly they managed to get an i230 relic weapon, when all they seem to use is Rage of Halone and a handful of oGCDs (namely, Sheltron and Shield Swipe).
Did an early morning Main Scenario roulette just now, and got paired with what can I only assume to be a fresh Dark Knight and his friends. So as soon as we start I pop Defiance, and we go. The run seems smooth and without problems, until I notice the Drk is OTing in Grit and spamming his Power Slash combo. -_- I raised the question, and I'm honestly not sure if I was complimented or insulted by the following message.

Ugh, it's too early for this bs. q.q
Lol looks like they immediately got defensive when you asked a question. I hate internet pseudo-tough-guys who try to mask their passive aggressiveness with "^^" and ":D" and other happy emotes. Generally if I ask a question and someone gets snarky like that with me I just immediately stop feeding the troll and live and let live.
The irritating part is that they're so bad at being shady because it's glaringly obvious... like, learn to throw shade better. =/
Wait... doesn't A5 require you to finish 2.55 storyline? O.o or is it a case of "168 hours and finishing 2.55, whichever comes later?" So you can finish 2.55 as long as you're below the number of hours, and you can be above the hours as long as you haven't reached HW areas?
Thanks ^^ Less confused now.
So EX Roulette today on summoner, got Antitower. DRK, SCH, and MNK where the other players. Got through everything and then during the final boss, the tank DCed. So I pulled out Titan Egi and made a pretty good effort but he couldn't snap aggro off me at that point so we end up wiping. Tank still hasn't come back, we try again but this time I have Titan-Egi out from the get-go and I'm throwing out Rouse and Spur and putting E4E on him and sustain. I had to resummon him a few times and at one point the scholar died so I rezzed them and then the monk died and I rezzed them and when I died the scholar raised me and at that point the monk was doing a pretty good job tanking and Calcabrina's health was low so I just pulled out Garuda for the last 10% to burn, and we managed to kill it. It was pretty cool; one of those runs where you wish you could commend more than one person.
Just did AK normal as 50 roulette with a few FC mates. I went as Pld, FC mates were Bard and Drg, and we got a DF Scholar. So i wait for Scholar to cast protect...and it never comes. So i ask for protect, and the Scholar says he doesnt have it cross classed...
How can any healer not have protect cross classed? Is this just something new that i'm not familiar with?
Dropped in to AV on my MCH today via levelling roulette. Everyone says hello but the tank, who also takes forever to start moving. He pulls the first mob pack, and keeps losing hate. I checked his gear, it's all Ironworks stuff capped, so it's not a gear issue. After a few minutes of doing nothing, he pulls the next pack and I watch his rotation. It's happening, just...slowly. We manage to slowly clear up to the first boss, and the tank just says "omg, I'm so high. I need to go lol" and drops. Healer drops, me and the mnk sit around for a few minutes and just leave. Hooray for stoners.
One of my LS friends told me a story of Snowcloak where they mistook a lalafel with a spriggan cap for a spriggan and tried to freeze them xD
You know what? I'll throw a recent Alexander I had in here.
This was an A8 Normal run.

He stopped talking after that.
I'm not normally one to post, but this was a strange one.
I'm going for relic, so I que up for Quarn HM. No big deal, I've run it once or twice unsynched, but I can pick up on the synch rules pretty easily. I join a group in progress, enter to find a tank and another Black Mage. Sweet! Just need a healer!
Tank leaves with no word. What?
Other DPS leaves. I'm just plain old confused at this point, hit replenish out of habit.
Summoner joins near instantly, and I feel terrible since its two dps and a wait it seems.
We get a healer, and they say they'll leave if a tank doesn't' show. I don't blame them, the wait might be a bit. After a small amount of time, they leave, and I ask the other dps if they want to bail or keep waiting.
We stick it out, a Dark Knight joins shortly after. A few minutes and a Scholar joins! Awesome!
We're at the second boss, and we melt the place like butter. Wish I could comm everyone who joined and stuck around. :) You guys were fantastic.
Just had an Aery run with a DRK, NIN, SMN, and me as AST.. The tank always uses all defensive buffs except grit.. Losing emnity every now and then and got hit with lots of AoE.. The SMN even changed his pet into titan-egi seeing how tank was a crap.. Every now and then after losing so many emnity, DRK decided to use grit but always removed it midfight just to make mobs scatter to dps and healer again.. This is truly a rare case of a tank who is having emnity issue but decided to drop grit and instead, use all of the defensive buffs available..
Funny thing, the very next run.. I met a WAR who freaks out about mainternance time in an hour++ and decided to pull double pack mobs without a single defensive buffs and losing a few of those mobs.. But i guess this is more normal than the previous..
yes there is a way (if he is a lvl 50+) and has his protect set on cross class fifth position and is in a low dungeon then his protect wont work if he doesnt change it from fifht to first or second position(not saying is the case here)
It happened to me with swiftcast, the guy was saying he couldnt use it, spend like 5 mn trying to have him understand WHY he couldnt use it. He was a lvl 60 SCH, yep, in Quarn NM. Finally got to understand after being a bit defensive and FINALLY understood what I was trying to explain to him
So yeah..there is effectively a way wehre people dont know they have the skill available IF they only change it position, depending in what type of dungeon they are compared to their real level.
Yeah, but the OP mentioned that the Protect-less scholar was in Amdapor Keep - a level 50 dungeon where all your cross class skills are available. I guess the scholar simply never dealt with cross class skills in general, they either rendered them useless or didn't even know that something like this exists.
She was refering to how they have to have the ability unlocked. You have to level WHM past where you unlock that, to unlock SCH. She was responding to the person whom she quoted, not referancing slots that were locked due to sync. Also as above poster stated, it is all in regards to a level 50 dungeon anyway.
Counter-question... You're a PLD. You need CNJ 15 to get there, i.e. you also have access to Protect. Why didn't you just cast it? ^^
(Though as a dual-main WAR/SCH, I have to say that there's little reason for a Scholar to not have Protect available in a level 50 dungeon. What's the alternative? Surecast? O.o)
This isn't necessarily a bad story. I got Aetherochemical Research Facility in my Level 60 Roulette last night before maintenance. I know what you're all thinking. *groan* And I'm sure all of us in there thought it, too. It was myself (WHM), a PLD, MNK, and NIN. There was no new person bonus, so I thought to myself, "You know, maybe we can just solider on through this and it won't be so bad—"
*Tank disconnects immediately*
Oh great. Maintenance is in 45 minutes and I doubt there's time to leave reque and get something else in time. So I say to the DPS to let's just give it a go until we can at least kick the tank and get a new one. They agree and so we take off into the dungeon.
Long story short, what happened was one of the most beautiful, tank-less runs ever. I think there was only one or two deaths and a full wipe on the part where all the adds swarm you in the second leg of the dungeon. I wish I remembered their names, because I salute both of those DPS.
Pfft, who needs a tank anyway?
