I'm somewhat new to these forums (not the game) and I haven't even figured out if there is a way to see if anyone quotes your post (so one could respond back to them) other than trying to follow the thread itself. Due to this reason I might have already missed your response to the question about to pose because I did not read every single page in this thread.

I no enrage timers are used in this game because they are probably easier to pull off (in a game like this I wouldn't necessarily consider it outright lazy for myself either but that's a whole different point)... I also can't think of many DPS checks that they could do to actually ensure that you wouldn't need to use an enrage timer, have you yourself suggested any?

Case in point, Tsukiyomi. If everyone is playing at an average level, not even god-tier, you won't even come close to enrage. Enrage timers only hurt people who aren't willing to do even the most basic of rotations and I honestly can't think of a single fight where they're tuned too highly against the average player.

Enrage timers only hurt people who are bad at the game. If you're good, you will likely never see them.

Which brings us full circle, you're bad at DPS and want enrage timers removed. They're not abusive, they're not bad game design, they're exactly what they should be.

Git gud. Then you won't see enrage mechanics. I know you're a bad DPS because of how you speak about mechanics. :)

That is how I was feeling about this forum too, I don't buy what these Raiders are selling after the treatment I've been seeing on here..they haven't convinced me they really care about the player's experience when playing FFXIV.

Absolutely. I am totes a SE apologist. It isn't as though I have criticised dungeon design, citing them brain dead simple, criticised Stormblood both in various story developments and how easy an overwhelming majority of the content is, criticised job balance and advocated heavily for parsers. Instead of taking personal shots, how about you answer my rebuttal? How is making Savage a harder 24M raid going to improve anything? It's simply a war of attrition. What you want is a game where you'll inevitably win even if it takes you forty minutes. Just make sure someone with a raise stays alive and the party can keep throwing themselves at the boss. Ironically, the job you play becomes functionally useless at a casual level. Why would anyone care to bring a DRG now that damage no longer matters? RDM and SMN can raise, tanks take substantially less damage and healers have better self sustain. Melee DPS serve no purpose anymore. Congratulations.

Funny enough, a lot of raiders wondered if she even had an enrage timer. It's an extremely generous 12:30 or thereabouts. Considering her total HP, it will take you forever and a day to actually see it.

Is it really possible to know how someone plays just because they don't like enrage mechanics and want them removed? I'm not sure if he said anything else other than talking about enrage mechanics so I apologize if I did indeed miss them (also if enrage mechanics were ever removed they would have to come up with somewhat fitting to ensure DPS checks were still a thing, which in this game it's easier to have enrage mechanics).

A previous game I came from used enrage mechanics here and there, which was lazy designing because in a game like that they weren't truly needed and they just had to find a way to make it so more of the game could actually flow with all the roles... which they never did... in fact that game is more dumbed down in these days than ever before and that's even after they have "restructured" the way the game plays. Wanting them removed from a game like that wouldn't make me think anyone is a bad player but also that game was structured differently out of the gate than this one.

I saw it quite a few times, and not because I ever wanted to out of curiosity either. Some groups were just not that good or on par in the beginning. I wasn't perfect either at first, but good lord, once I had her on a good farm, I could see why some would think it's non-existential.

The first time that I ever joined a Savage fight was Alte Roite on release. A huge chunk of the groups I joined in the PF during that first month of release often saw enrage. I would rather not have the enrage timer removed, namely because I feel that Savage fights do need a certain level of competency. I don't feel that you shouldn't be able to fight a war of attrition to clear a savage fight. Enrage may be a time-old mechanic, but it's effective. If folks weren't capable of clearing Alte Roite/Catastrophe well before hitting enrage in 320 gear, they certainly were not ready to deal with Helicarnassus, which overwhelms you with mechanics while you still have to put out enough DPS to clear the fight in time. I think the removal of an enrage timer ruins the challenge of savage fights, and I do believe that it would coddle some of the laziness that is already seen in casual dungeons. This thinking extends to Ultimate as well - if you're not good enough to contribute enough to clear well before enrage, then I feel like you (in general terms) should figure out what you're doing wrong and take time to fix it.

I think you need to calm down. The fact that you're construing a personal attack from a comment disagreeing with your idea to remove enrage timers, because it would just trivialize the content, shows that. Where in Bourne's comment were they discussing your personal skill level? Where were they attacking you? Nowhere. Yet, I see you didn’t hesitate at all to take personal shots. I think that says more about your character than it does about Bourne’s, if I’m being blunt.

It's ironic that you are harping about people barking at each other when that's literally what you're doing right now.

Even Ultimate's enrages aren't that bad, they're really fairly tuned for the dps the average player can bring I feel.
