That's still barely more muscular than a catgirl, just with a bigger chest and a fox head.
Which is a problem that is unfortunately just not going to disappear.
All gear is designed for the female midlander body, as that is pretty much the "default" without any bone scaling applied. On top of that a lot of the gear has a relatively low polygon count for obvious reasons, it needs to run well with the assumption of a hundred players loaded at the same time.
What this means however is that things like sleeves and gloves are fit rather loosely to even the default body shape, so when applying the different racial scaling, especially more extreme bone scaling like female Roegadyn and female Hrothgar, it often ends up looking...goofy.
This comment looks as if you have not seen the difference between female hrothgar gear scaling and other bodies, including female roegadyn. The same items on hrothgar look significantly larger, and that's what really stands out to people.
I hope the gear worn on female hrothgar will eventually look similar in arm size to female roegadyn. That would be good enough for me.
Helloo, I’d like to spark this convo/rigging problem up again… I found some pieces that are still REALLY REALLY big and bulky for no reason… I hoped they would fix more after 7.1 fixes… but I did not see any in 7.2x
I took these when I was a hrothgar and I would love to go back but the lack of hairstyles/hats and these really BIG BIG shoulders for no reason bothers me, Roe’s are also big but I feel like they have less issues with things like these…
Ty for reading! Lets spark this convo again and document all that we find again

It seems they've been fixing a lot of these without saying anything in the patch notes. I was a female hrothgar for a few weeks recently and I only found two pieces that still had the issue (the skallic fending coat and the arm bands on their racial gloves) whereas previously it was almost everything in my glam chest.
I don't think anything is going to change with the shoulder plates. Personally I think it would look worse if they had smaller shoulder plates sitting there, like what they did to undead in WoW way back in the day.
Would like fem hroth to get the horrid wow style huge shoulder pads fixed, ballooned arms also still need fixing on so many bits of gear
So, uh, I know hats are awesome, I am happy for both us and the Viera, and the toggle our bunny siblings got for their ears. Great job! ^^
However... my gear is still oversized af, including the arm rings from the racial Hrothgal set itself, the starting gear. They haven't published a list for clothes fixed the last two patches but it's not like they haven't bothered listing everything before, so I assumed they would keep adjusting gear in silence. And yet I am still able to decapitate myself twice by stretching thanks to massive shoulder blades. I don't know if they just never look at threads in "Duplicate Bugs" anymore after moving them there, or consider this solved, but even so, the Ravager's Cuirass (and its PvP version) and many other offenders are artifact job gear, which seems to have a priority when it comes to adding dye zones and high quality textures to it. So I would assume it would have a priority for fixing this stuff as well... Tht is, if they keep fixing stuff without telling and not just adjusted a fraction and called it a day.
There are nice sleeveless options in this game, yes, but at some point I'd like to wear anything else...
Anything that has sleeves is just awful looking with how wide their shoulders are, coupled with how bulky and huge it gets..

Yeahh, still a lot of outfits I'm hoping get updated. I still choose not to wear the Fierce Tyrant's Gauntlets because they look so bloated on my character. And while I do use the Late Allagan & Vanguard armors often, they still have some sizing issues that become so obvious when you compare them to, say, a female roegadyn.
My friend has told me he's certain some other outfits were improved even when the patch notes did not explicitly say it, so I'm hoping we are still getting fixes. I would love some more transparency about it.
I was one most of my time in DT MSQ, but the hair and required body stripes that literally cannot match the "skin" because the devs didn't give any matching colors to the hair Despite Wuk Lamat not having that problem, ahhhh, killed the race more than the body type.
I think this is "working as intended." Mapping it more tightly is just the Roegadyn body.
It seems like the over inflated bicep issue is fixed for most gear at this point but I've discovered a couple items that still need attention. The Skallic Fending chest piece and (strangely) the arm bands of their own racial gear.

For comparison here are the arm bands in an official render from around the time of their reveal.

Not sure what went wrong between then and release but it would be nice if they could get fixed because they look pretty cool when they're not floating several inches away from your arms lol. Thanks!
It's odd because it is not everything and totally hit and miss for gear.
It's very strange. The width of the armbands was one of the first things which players noticed were definitely not sitting right with in-game hrothgar. It's such a bizarre change after they worked correctly, and it leads me to think it may even have been done on purpose by part of the developers realizing the rest of the gear was broken (they might have needed to widen the armbands to fit the size of some chestgear sleeves, once they noticed them).
Unfortunately, I think there's still quite a lot of gear that remains oversized. I think most glove slot items will likely be fixed last due to the sleeve-fitting issue, if they keep making fixes, that is.
Agreed with all of this. For the most part things seem mostly fixed but the hroth armbands and the Scylla caster/healer gear is definitely still busted. I would love to post pics but am on ps5.
I still think the most gear peices are messed up. Been looking through the vast majority of items and they still have over sized sleeves and shoulders. Even the ones listed as fixed befor still look wrong. At this point we just need to get used to it cause square doesn't seem to care about it. For my part I'll just be rocking sleeveless glams.
Yeah.
Recently used one of the free fantasias to see if maybe now my fav glams Work with femhroth. But all of them still feature wacky inflatable sleeves.

This one? I don’t have a better picture since I recently switched off of hrothgar. I am thinking about switching back (damn fantasia addiction)
Omg! Thats so funny!!! I like the white on white. Or the white cat with black stripes, buy often the highlights on the hair are a bit much then…. Sadly we can’t dye the fur pattern apart from hair highlights!!
Yeah I thought they looked kinda good, but now I do see the upper sleeve part ><
I’m gonna make a alt, while levelibg I’ll try and document pieces of gear that are wierd on the arms, hopefully SE sees it then and will take a look at it
I have wo theories on why femhroth are like this. Either they are useing edited male hroth scaling on clothing. You can see this with certain gearsets that have capes. They sometimes blow out so far as if you have the male hroth hunch. Or female hrothgar used to have different scaleing earlier in production and had a bigger model. Sometime between earlier model and current someone didn't get the new scaling numbers and just has been running off old data. Either way shows some real incompetence on squares part at best.
The only way I guess to try and let SE know is to keep talking about it….
Keep sharing the weirdly sized clothing pieces.
I hope they do a rehaul of Characters next. Character creation/Rigs/ Animations (like multiple poses with weapons drawn). But I can only dream!
My theory is this is an attempt to differentiate the body of Hrothgal's from Roegadames, but I think the idea they were initially bigger makes more sense.
Ronso (the FFX race Hrothgar are primarily inspired by) women were smaller than the men, I think, so it's kind of a bummer to think this may have been our first race that the women were the hulks.
What sucks is FFXIV does have a race with that trait: Sahagin. The cowards won't let us play as one, though.
It's still wierd since fem hrothgars are smaller then Roe's. Yes they have kind of the same build but its pretty easy to see who is a female hrothgar and hoe is a Roe. 1 has a tail and some hats. The other has no tail and can wear hats and then are bigger. Also Au'ra and Miqo'te are also similair in body only one is a cat and the other a lizzard ofcourse but when they both have full armor on you can only see the difference with the tail/horns.
Also isn't it crazy we only get like 4 older hairs per big patch? 1 hair per month.... I want to use Gyr albanian plait :(
I have a whole list of idea's I would have implemented if I was a dev (especially character creation ect) Sadly I am not a game dev/Speak Japanese to apply D:
Also I would love to see other races like the Sahagin, Loporitts. Sadly since they are part of a 'allied society questline' so indeed it won't happen probably
Keep in mind that Hrothgal gear will always be oversized to some extent because Hrothgals have thick arms and very broad shoulders. There are definitely pieces that still need to be fixed but many of the complaints I've seen recently seem to be from people who just don't like that Hrothgals have a larger frame, which is fine but that's personal preference, it's not an issue with the race.
Well I do get that. The Gear should really more resemble the size of a Roedygyn since they have around the same body type. But even Roe's fit the for ' example: Critical Hit A-1 Tour Armlets' better... when in game and next to eachother it doesn't look that big as in the ' try on' feature.
I asked my friends who are a Roe and Hroth at the moment to stand next to each other and do the Attend emote to see the difference. In game it's not THAT bloated as I looked in my previous picture in the try on menu.

But if this is around 0.5x bigger then other more poofy stuff will look insane.
I love Hrothgars, I absolutely love how they look and dont want them to be a miqo'te sized. But I do just want them to fit gear like Roe's
Always so much this. I play a female hrothgar, and one of my friends played a female roegadyn for a while after Dawntrail was released. Anytime we compared outfits with sleeves/gauntlets, the difference was immediately noticeable. I hope they will eventually have equal proportions.
What is infuriating to me, is this feels like it is a simple scaling/coding issue with the wrong numbers or whatever input and it could be correct with a simple change to that. I have been thankful most of my glams are not impacted, but damn....like fix this crap. We hrothgals are not these massive lumbering creatures. Are arms are not that freaking big. We are stronge and lithe, not She-Hulk.

I dont remember the armor name... But this is insane
bump!!
Gotta keep it on the main pages
