Twitch streamers still blatantly cheating on stream.

Calling it "muh cheating!" doesn't make it any less cheating.

As far as what I can tell from looking it up that's rumor that goes around the game and has been apparently for a while. Yoshi p just really doesn't want to do it from what it seems because he knows how the game community is and he recognizes that not all add-ons are cheating but there are those that are a problem however if he installed a program to ban like act it wouldn't be able to differentiate that and add on that allows viera to wear a hat. The only thing I think he could do is if you can find a way to make an anti-cheat that only would activate and scan if you enter contents like EX savage or ultimate for add-ons and would only scan while you're in that content but I have no idea how feasible that is, if it can even be coded to do that not to mention having to implement it and make sure it works correctly.

I don't watch Twitch, and I don't know what this is about. Can somebody please explain what the situation is? Like what is ACT, 3rd party programs? What is it that makes it "cheating"? Do people use 3rd party programs to do things like dodge AoE stuff?

Act generally is a program just for DPS meter, however because the information act gathers it can implement several things through that like dbm in this game (reference to WoW boss mod program) even seeing it go as far as be able to show overlays on screen where abilities will hit before the abilities cast so said player instantly can know where to go to be safe. It is completely against TOS however they have not put an anti cheat to detect it because it would destroy add-ons that aren't really chests like ones that let bunny people wear hats...

He 100% oversimplified the explanation, as he often does. Otherwise Elden Ring etc. wouldn't have anti-cheat.

Square has made it pretty clear by now unless they have either video evidence or text receipts ingame, you arnt going to be punished for it.

They even went as far last live letter to change their response from "please do not use 3rd party mods" to "please stop asking us this question"

Unless things get absolutely wildly out of hand, then I would expect nothing to be done.

By SE's TOS, modding the game to let bunny people wear hats is every bit cheating as much as running ACT (with or without extra stuff like the dbm-like plugin) or any other third party app/mod.

Making distinctions is purely by the playerbase - each person decided for themselves, "Well, I think THIS is ok but THAT is utterly terrible and why isn't SE banning those people??" Ditto for marketboard websites, crafting assistants that track how much materials you need, and so on and so forth. All will have someone saying "No this isn't bad, this isn't cheating!"

To SE, it's all the same, and all verboten.

If it was all the same to them, they would just roll out a anticheat and smash them all, but they don't so why not because #1 SE obviously realizes there is a difference and #2 they don;'t see a reason to upset a playerbase that affectively isn't cheating the game. They might not like mods being used but and ask against it but if they were as hard as you claim they would just roll out anticheat next update.

They aren't "smashing them all" because it doesn't benefit them to do so. The install base for third party tools is absolutely massive nowadays and they'd lose money trying to squish it, all with minimal effect because most anti-cheat software has work arounds. It isn't that they realize there's a difference, they just know the backlash would be enough of a financial loss not to be worth bothering. Thus, everything is slid under the rug and you're told not to say anything openly, in-game. If you bring up mods you have installed just so Viera can wear hats, you'll have just as likely a chance of getting a temp ban as if you admit to using ACT. The severity will only be higher on the latter if you also criticism someone else for their performance.

All third party tools are treated the same under SE, officially. "Don't use them or you may be banned." That's it. No if, ands or buts. Unofficially, their stance is "Please don't use third party but so long as you shut up about it, we don't really care."

Ya SE says that but also SE doesn't go after the cosmetic plugs and still don't add hats for buns. SE did after go other plugs and add those in. Btw SE did add crafting assistance ingame and updated items to show vendor prices, maybe they'll go as far as flagging them eventually.
