Sorry, I didn't know they were being harassed to that point- I just meant the backlash doesn't surprise me and is justified (so long as not taken overboard).

Devs about to be on this like crazy...
I watched the interview and I don't think so. No names were revealed at all, not even servers. There is no new information for SE to work from and I seriously doubt the interview revealed anything they didn't already know about the modding community. At best they could corner a player who sent Asmon screenshots but sending screenshots isn't proof of anything. Anyone could have taken them.
As for my opinion on mods I'm fine with anything that isn't NSFW as long as it doesn't interfere with how anyone else experiences the game. Not all fun with mods is harmless but quite a lot of it is.
Those people who insist that lalafells are children, have you even played this game?
Have you played through the MSQ, especially the Ul'dah related storyline?
Have you spoken to any of the NPCs or done any of the quests that make it very clear SE thinks lalafells are as adult as anyone else? For example where taller race NPCs proclaim their attraction for a lalafell NPC. Where a lalafell male talks about his conquests with taller race females. Where the females complain about the lascivious nature of certain lalafell males.
The Costa del Sol is owned by a lalafell who has a harem of taller females.
SE clearly has no problem portraying lalafells as adults.
Many MMOs have a short race and FFXIV is no different.
It's rude and disrespectful to call people paedophiles for playing as lalafells.
We get it. You aren't attracted to lalafells. So go back to lusting over animals such as cats and rabbits like sexually normal, morally upstanding human beings...
The prejudice is strictly appearance-based.
This counts for both fiction and irl cases.
I've personally encountered a number of adult women who look young - like, these women genuinely look like they're in their mid-teens because they boast a petite, short or roundish features - who are treated like children, mistaken for children and have their respective partners be accused of being 'creeps' because their female counterpart doesn't accurately represent their age in a physical sense.
When I was going on post which is a military base, for example, typically kids are allowed access without having to be ID'd. My roommate - who is in her twenties - was told she didn't have to show her ID because she's 'obviously a child' and the guard waved us through.
If you lose the genetic lottery in that sense you get the short end of the stick.
XD
Its true though... also its not our fault lala are the cutest on some emotes, like, I love my aura but its so stiff... as are most others... Lala are cute, its fun playing em and at the same time i feel angry lala looks more intimidating then an male aura xD
What attracts me the most isnt even their young appearance or just how smoll they are but how theyre the only race thats even remotely chubby. I hate how all other female races are so skinny... have so skinny legs... if we could only get bunny- or catgirls with just as chubby hips and legs... *sigh*
And yes the bias about cats and bunnies being ok, but no small race lol
I actually had two co workers, both just slightly above 140cm... they were so cute, yet both of em had... uhm... very defined female features lol
-yet dressed the right way you couldve mistaken the younger one of em as child easily.... at least until she opens her mouth xD
What was this topic about again?
i love lalas. they are so cute. i have a lala alt and its funny running around with it since lalas have to walk way faster than other races.
i dont mind naked humans. i love some designs with a lot of skin. and that not even in a sexual way (like ryne in e8s. i love her design. if only the dragons head was a bit smaller. its way too big :()
i also dont mind screenshots made with a nudemod. yeah i know a player who is using it. and she sends me sometimes screenshots. (sometimes with clothes and sometimes nude, but never in sex positions)some of them look pretty good.... and again not in a sexual way, its a kind of beauty.
that being said.... the last thing i want to see is a naked lalafell (the body shape is just weird).... and no i dont want to see something so cute having sex. (that counts also for the lalas who arent cute.) its just a no-go
after reading every post in this thread, I'll just say that y'all need The Twelve
perhaps he could do an interview with botters. Hopefully bringing the attention to the rampant use in PF and marketboard and get SE to crack down on them
Ye its frustrating... like im a perv I admit, but theres non sexual nudity as well...
Murder is fun, sex is not I guess?
Any form of nudity is often frowned upon no matter the context. It’s why breastfeeding in public is apparently a controversial topic.
But there’s something interesting I noticed.
Folk openly discourage ‘western’ ideals and morales when it comes to topics such as the lgbt community and their respective threads.
But when it comes to topics that have been discussed heavily in this thread western sensibilities take center stage and barely anyone bats an eye.
I mean it’s a Japanese Company, what they allow is bound to be a bit different regardless of our western mindsets.
It may be a Japanese company but I'm led to believe that they are very much bound by Western laws should they wish to sell their product within specific Western countries. Given that they have a financial incentive not to see their product banned, then that means that they can and very much do take action whenever specific players overstep their boundaries.
They've explicitly commented on the problem more than once and urged players not to make use of NSFW mods or post images on social media that would qualify as being illegal/paint the game in a bad light.
Ultimately, if people weren't so brazen about such antics then most people wouldn't be aware of it happening. So I think blaming people for reacting to it when it's dragged into a public space is rather disingenuous.
I'm calling the police right now
Need something mechanism that check if the game is modified before launching it.
Its actually very good Asmongold made a video about this. Show everyone how disturbing this is and it should be stopped. Its against the Terms of Service modifying the game like this.
This is a very entertaining thread. Wondering where all those trolls came from, impressive.
I think the people who make this into a big deal this is, shows that this community has bigger problems than modders making ryne naked.
A outrage about something that makes noone a victim, that is on a fake character. That noone else can see, but that person. Is some how disturbing and a issue.
I think it is the other way around, the fact that some people blur the line from reality to video game is the real issue here. As long as people dumb fetish does not make victims. And Noone is a victim here. I don't care what they do. I mean I know some who watch horror movies as a fetish. I don't care or judge these people. As long as they are not hurting anyone. And making Ryne "naked' is not hurting anyone. Even if I don't understand it or care too.
Point is, Ryne is not real. She is not a victim. So i don't care what they do. And if start trying to fix this, people will find a way around it. Like they always do.
Now its the "race x ages differently"-card? Good. Lalafell age much faster than any other race! >: D
And Au Ra age very slow. My 20 years old looking Au Ra is actually 16. How do you like that? ; )
And Ryne is within the age of consent. In my country and in most parts of the world (including JP, the birthplace of FFXIV).
If you excuse me now, I have to farm some Eden 8 Savage. For glamours, of course ; )
because sexual depiction of minors is illegal, no matter if pixelated or not, hello??? why are people straight up downplaying this, this is utterly disgusting. the thought alone people defending lewd art of minors in this game makes my stomach turn and gives shivers down my spine. this is so gross im sorry and gives off huge red flags
Yoshi P:
respect it, there is nothing more to say.Quote:
There are people using mods to take (lewd) screenshots in the game, people say I haven’t been taking a stance on this. It isn’t allowed.”
Depending on the content you publish, it goes beyond just getting a penalty from Square Enix, in some countries some of the screenshots we see are against the law. We want to avoid being asked ‘What game are these screenshots taken in? Change the data, don’t let them do this’, so I ask you to please refrain from using mods.”
That is false. I mean do you all understand how many horror books authors would be going to jail because of that? Or any story teller that has messed up issues in it.
I'm downplaying it because it is not a issue. Ryne is not a victim, Ryne is not a minor. She is not real. So again, what law has been broken? I'm really curious now. How a crime has happen to someone who is not real. This should be good.
Also I don't really got to respect a thing, as I don't use addons...but I'm not going to stop others who do it because they enjoy using them. Yoshi p is not enforcing the rules so how he feels about it does not matter.
Jesus Christ I went on a 30 minute drive and y'all posted like 2 more pages of stuff.
It is pretty gross. Especially again, when you realize they took inspiration for parts of her outfit from a grown over sexualized woman from a previous game, it’s just done in poor taste and gross. Not to mention them trying to categorize it as “angelic.” Never seen an angel wear a dragon as clothes covering her nudity but…go off i guess?
I wont say where, but it's kind of shocking the types of mods I've seen people use to take screen shots. My jaw hit the literally desk top when I looked at a NSFW thread in a ****** group I'm in. I was Like "How on Hydaelyn did they get that pose and mod to work?" Why was never a question as Rule 34 was in full effect.
Umm, not really. If you are in California and you are 18 and you Sext to Colorado (AOC 17) you will be guilty of a crime in California. Even if it's legal in Colorado. Also no where in the USA is the AOC under 16, and many states that have lower has a minimum age differential which means 18yo 19yo might not be guilty but a 25 yo is. I should point out quiet a few "Red States" and a few New England States and New York have really lax laws on this.
As long as no one is hurt IN REALITY (you know, where people actually can get hurt??), what's the problem? You people are making this mountain out of molehill. Keep beating the dead horse further, will you? The more you try outlaw everything "bad", a lot of people will push back, and create other ways to continue said idea, subject, etc. The next "upgraded" way to do something could be 100x worse than the last.
Cosmetic things and shaders (which is just a program that lets you use photo filters. Think Instagram style) aren't harming anyone. They are client sided and only can be seen by the player themselves. To others, you don't look any different. Maybe they see their character as something else, but the game doesn't have what they exactly need. Maybe these players role play and their character has certain features not available in game yet? As long as there's no Lalafell NSFW and crap like that (that shit should get people outright banned seriously it's horrible), I see little to no issue. These 'modders' are not bothering anyone; Stop putting innocent people into the bad group. I have seen some nice shots in some discord groups I belong to. I don't like such things because I already like how my character looks. Why bother? Rofl.
Ya'll need to take a breather, seriously. Go outside, take a walk, spend time with family? Step away from the computer, internet, and whatever else you play on, it's just nuts all the self-proclaimed "white knights" are on this forum. I don't take any of you seriously. I bet 90% don't even help or donate to actual victims of pedoshit irl. SHRUG.
Not replying to any quotes. Don't want to be dragged into a cycle of the clown circus.
you are comparing apples to pears. you dont read/watch horror movies because you have an urge to kill somebody. there might be a few percentage that is psychopathic enough that does for that reason - but we can agree the vast mojority does not. and don‘t you think if there are psychopaths watching it for that reason, it‘s a good idea to feed them ideas? no, you lock them up.
there is only 1 reason as to why people do lewd art of minors, that is the concerning part. there is no other reason and not comparable to somebody writing a horror book.
there is a reason why writing horror books is legal and doing pixelated lewd art of minors is not. and it‘s really sinister you people try to draw the comparison there to downplay how disgusting it is. really concerning.
Oh? maybe they do have a fetish and enjoy it but would never act on it. Like who am I to know or care? The point I'm making is. If no victim has happen. We should not care. That is like the mothers getting upset over the IT books cause of that dumb one part of it. Or how about metal gear games when it has really messed up things with that one kid that ended up in sexual.
So you saying horror books are ok because it is not real murder right? Well this is not real also. So my point still stands. Murder is just as bad in my eyes. People get enjoyment out of watching people get murder. So should I judge them also?
It's really crazy and disheartening how people are trying to deceive and spin the narrative with dishonest arguments and crooked lines of reasoning.
Contrary to what people in this thread want you to believe, the problem isn't some arbitrary force trying to limit your 'freedom' or use of mods. It's about how the depiction of naked kids (including Lalafells) and engaging in ERP with minors shouldn't be allowed and should definitely not be encouraged by the community.
It doesn't matter whether or not the in-game models are 'real' or not. Pedophilia is a legit psychiatric disorder. The defense of 'but Lalafells are adults ;))' is superweak since their appearance will always be prepubescent.
Come on. What are we even doing here?
Noone in his or her right mind cares about the mod issues, and everyone cares about erping with minors, but most seem to accept that they can't stop it, and that is the parents job. Not ours to worry about it.
We are trying to help the people who blur the line on what is reality and what is not. Ryne is not a victim, so the mods are not something to be upset about.
