Asthetically I prefer the males to be taller or at least be able to be taller than the females. I probably wouldn't even consider switching if males couldn't at least be the same height as females.

i mean my male miqo is often smaler than fem miqos (my height slider is under 1/4), the people that want them smaller than female bunnys should just take the slider all down - just don‘t take the option for them to be taller for other people.
my malebunny is going to be smaller than the average anyways - still don’t make them to small compared to the females, the best would be about same height, and everyone could decide for themselves if they want to put the slider all up/down
I wouldn't mine if Male vieras ended up being shorted so I think around miqo'te or midlander height would be great. As for their musculature I'd want them to be a mix between miqo'te and au ra. Based on lore and previous concept art that matches the female vieras we're getting i can't imagine them being slim. They seem like they should be a little more then athletic. Also I don't want to play a child, I already think there are enough toddlers running around ;P
if they're going to bother to care about lore, male viera shouldn't be smaller
I'm fine with this idea! But is there a particular reason so many people would like small male viera? I can think of a few personally why it would be cool but none of them seem like reasons that would be widespread.
It's just something we need. all of the races right now have smaller women than men. By making the men smaller, Yoshi-P would be adding something unique to the game. Also, male bunnies are generally smaller than women. I don't think they should be tiny, but Miqo'male to Hyur height would make them adult size while still being smaller than the women. Since their jobs are to hide in the woods, being gigantic would just make them stand out. If they were compact with wiry muscles, they could give us a sleek, powerful male character design.
Also, I'd like to see interesting running animations. Beautiful, feral men dashing on all-fours would make for interesting visuals.
It's not so many, really, if you compare the likes here with the likes of removing the genderlock thread, even if only a 25% of the likes are from people who would like to change to male viera, they still outnumber by far the likes of the ones asking for smaller male viera, it just seems to be on demmand because the same 10 people who want them keep posting daily about the matter to the point some of them end reaching the daily post limit.
Just hope SE is able to see the difference between feedback and insistence.
Also, let SE decide, don't turn a classic to be discovered into a personal niche...
Edit: by saying let SE decide, I mean they should decide the design, they must obviously implement male viera and female hrothgar.
Oh it's outside of the forums that I'm seeing it too! Friends, discords, twitter etc. Also I didn't know male bunbuns were smaller irl! That's a pretty good reason, and I can definitely see wanting more cute males just like how I'd personally like wider and more fierce looking ladies!
Same thing, the OF as well as any other social media site, are a size sample, the values of people supporting viera vs people asking for samller viera or any other body type will be about the same across any social media site (excluding some niche sites which could be more inclined to one side because of their nature), being the official forums and the ffxiv subreddit the most reliable ones, as they get feedback directly from players instead of people non related to the game.
I personally want shorter men because no other race in ffxiv has that kind of dimorphism (and honestly I can only think of one other game with a similar design), it mirrors real life rabbits, and tbh I'm still salty about female au ra and would just like to have the female of a race be the more physically imposing one to kind of balance out that gross imbalance of statures between the genders of each race.
That's just anecdotal. I've seen plenty of people who would like a small male viera on the official forums and elsewhere - this is anecdotal as well. Neither of us know anything for certain.
I can only speak for myself when I say I would like the male viera to be just a bit shorter than their female counterparts, but even if the males are taller, I wouldn't really mind. Either way, if we get male viera at all, I will be happy whether they are short or tall. I was very happy with the way Yoshi P described how male viera would look if implemented in the game. Judging by the way female viera look, I am confident the devs will do a fantastic job on the male model - if they really decide on doing it.
Oh sorry, I didn't mean that as an attack, I used 10 as an approximate number of the very active users I can see defending the shorter males on the forums, more than 5 less than 20, I know there are more (less active) users, the like count in the op espeaks for itself, but it's still a fact that the people with unknown preferences that asked for male viera (and probably are expecting the ones in the concept art that were shown alongside the current females to be implemented) utnumber by far the more active users asking for shorter male viera, a version that has not even been mentioned in any official statement, lore or concept art (feol aren't full viera and they are not shorter than famales, they are not even short, just shorter ears).
Besides, a short male with animal features is something we already have with male miqos, and doing this to give the au'ra a counterpath it's absurd because the au'ra sexual dysmorphism wasn't even a good idea to start with, and again would only lead to a miqote body type, nothing new, and if they are even shorter than male miqotes, we can't even call them viera...
On the other hand, i'm ok with an slider that goes under females min height but can get up to atleast the same max height as them, adding options is ok, limiting them is bad, that's the whole point of this campaign in favor of male viera and female hrothgar.
I know this is fantasy and all but I mentioned before, not every male is 6 to 7 feet tall. I would like a race to represent the short to lower average height male and if we are not going to get any more new race the male viera would be a great opportunity.

They seem pretty short too me. Head sizes usually stay the same if your taller or shorter. So by this picture it is accurate to say that feol do seem shorter.
Yeah, but height sliders don't do much of anything if we're shoehorned into a race/gender that is small right from the get-go. I really hope they don't go the au'ra dimorphism route. I hate it on that race and I'm going to hate it on this one if they decide to add it. Not a fan of playing overly small characters, max height male Miqo'te being my cut off point. In all honesty, I don't even think female au'ra should be kept at that height and I hope with an extension to the character creator they can be made even taller.
I just hope they go with basic Hyur height with a scale that goes either way.
Here, take my humble support.
(Also, male hrothgar should be more lithe and less roe-like, just sayin')
I'm sorry, but with basic Hyur height there will be this exact dimorphism which you hate, almost same level as for Au Ra. Females Viera are tall and if I remember correct they are about Roe height or something (but we will see in benchmark quite soon). Males could likely have Elezen height from this point or same with females.
Basic hyur height is the average height; for the midline. I hate dimorphism yes, but I want the average height to be the midline where the maximum height is the same as the females and the likes. I honestly just think the height restrictions should be thrown out of the window - within reason - and for the player to decide how tall their character should be. Since that's not doable now I figured the average height of a hyur with a wide height range from small - miqo'te small - to tall - same height as females - would satisfy both crowds until they update the character creator to have a much wider range.
If the males are the same height as the elezen or the females, that will be fine with me - as yeah, Dimorphism is irritating.
xD I hope I explained it clearly, I don't know I'm not the best with words.
But Feols are Vieras. A subrace is a part of that race all together. Hilde is still a hyur even if she has pointy ears. She has the exact same features of a hyur down to her height and face. Just because someone is mixed doesn't make them not that race. A chug is a still a pug and a chihuahua that is still a dog. And since your bringing up individuals, I don't see how there can't be a possibility that male vieras can not be shorter than a female. I'm not saying they have to be Lalafell short. Peter Dinklage is still male, he's still shorter than a most woman, and he's an adult and still a human. Height isn't a concrete thing. There are height sliders for a reason. I don't see there being a problem with Male Viera able to be shorter than a Female Viera nor do I see there being a problem for Male Viera being taller than a female Viera. It's up to the individual. There's 2 clans for a reason and they should utilize it or else we wouldn't have Midlander or Highlander. A Female Highlander can be taller than a Male Midlander but they are both Hyur. People act like Height sliders in this game cause so many problems but they really don't. It is literally just an entire model character up/down scaling. Look at the largest Lalafell compared to the smallest Lalafell. No proportions are changed, one's just bigger overall. So it doesn't even effect rigging or clothes.

Then i don't konw why are we arguing lol, I already said it's ok for them to be able to be shorter than females as long as it's and option and they can get up to the same max height as females, please read the full post.
Also i'm not gonna post here anymore as we have the other thread for feedback, just posted this to give you an answer.
I just think Square Enix needs feedback at least in Threads that is relevant to it. If they decide to add Male Viera they have a lot to go off of because it's not tied to a deadline or anything. They already reached their deadline with trying to implement new races. Now they can just take their time on other things while figuring out how to do a male Viera if at all. If anything it could be good that they didn't add Male Viera considering how rushed Hrothgar look. Now they can provide more options than less.
I play as a male au'ra and I tone down the height to shortest I think I don't remember exactly but my character is short for a au'ra and still I tower over other male characters when I'm in a party.
Ah, so this is where people got the idea that the Feol are shorter. As Renik said, this isn't canon (it's a tumblr post). It doesn't even mention that the Feol Viera live in a volcano, their father race is the Aegyl and they're exiled.
I'm curious where the person who made that is getting the small bits of male Viera lore from. Is that mentioned in FFXII:RW or FFXII anywhere?
It might already been said but.. When the dramaturge was describing male Vira during the 24man.. He said they were large furry and feral like.. So they would probably be bigger then the females who already look large.
It's aright, I didn't take it that way.
At this point, I think it's unrealistic to expect males to be incredibly short compared to the females. However, I still would like to be able to create a male that is shorter than the females. Just a tad shorter, but not the same kind of extreme height difference au ra have going on.
I don't think male miqo'te fits the short and slim niche. I mean, they're not tall, but they have broad shoulders and somewhat wide torsos. Omega M has a thin torso and the body type is even slimmer than that of male miqo'te.
Got a source on that? He didn't describe them at all from what I saw. In fact, he emphasized how he hasn't seen them at all. He just said that people who try looking for them don't find them or end up dead. Also, the females aren't "large." Unless you mean tall. But then...large and tall have different connotations and don't mean the same thing.
Yoshi P did describe them, although he described them as elegant, slim, and handsome.
