Never mind
This is ridiculous...SE tell me again how you learned ...

And about failure?

Finished the event an hour ago. It was an interesting approach to show how the final hours of 1.0 unfolded, but it's still irritating that they had the content gated the way they did. I assume it's gated in such a way to make sure that each time it opens there will be plenty of people ready to enter and do the content, because if you don't have a populated instance it's gonna be really difficult with how often players die. Still, the fact that it was developed in a way that requires as close to 144 players as possible is irritating and not player friendly. There's also the fact that each time you die and home point, you still receive damage to your gear.
I honestly just don't like that they decided to go back to the fate system. I'm so glad Capcom stepped in for their event and was like "lmao no you're not turning our event into garbage. We need actual content for this fight". But they decided to go back to their old roots. Honestly the most disappointing of it all. But still gives me PTSD when the servers were going down. I miss the goobbue wall we created. lol
4:02pm est not sure what that is gmt wise but the npc despawned just now on Midgard
So think it's been figured out he appeared at 11 a.m. Mountain Time despawned at 2 p.m. mountain time so that would be as has been said three hours up and if the cool-down is the same as before that means it'll be 12 hours until he reappears since you appeared at 7 p.m. mountain time and then despawned at 10 he appeared 12 hours later as said 11 a.m.
The Rising Recruiter on Leviathan despawned at 4pm EST.
lol, so I missed it again, cause I had to work...
I logged in at 2:00 pm EST and the recruiter had spawned (Diabolos); I made it just in time!
The fate was insane and I got the White Raven earrings.
Now I know the hell the Legacy players went through before shutdown of 1.0..I salute thee! (*^*)7
^ Same for Sargatanas. I left the game running and woke up around 1am est and the npc was there. Not sure when it despawned though.
The instance itself is fun because the chaos of a ton of characters + aoes + tight corridors makes for hilarious body counts. The NPC having a 3 hour window and a 10 hour cooldown is absolutely baffling though.
Did anyone by any chance check if the Rising Recruiter spawns in all 3 city states at the same time?
Since i've just missed the Recruiter in Ul'dah on Sargatanas, i quickly visited the other 2 city states, but he wasn't there right now.
Wait. It despawns? Why?
That's not a good decision, IMO... At all. If one person's luck was really bad they could never see the instance. Possible? Not likely, but still. Maybe I'm annoyed I missed it because I was working, and I'll need to hope it doesn't spawn again while I'm at work.
I don't doubt I'll be able to see it, but I still think it's a bad decision to make it a timer to see the NPC.
I am a bit shocked that they even manage to mess up a event like that..I was able to be online nearly the whole day and only got a message later in the evening that he is there. Honestly I just skipped the cutscence with the bard and gathered every necessary token in this and finished as fast as possible..(and more shocking, the fates were still more fun than Eureka..)
And after that I noticed that you can only put one item in the chest..why?
I am not sure if they wanted to give it the 1.0 feeling but this is really not great for a timed event..
My whole party ate the giant mech's cleave in the garlean wave- full to dead. We were all laughing in chat. Every following fate had similar carnage, and one of our members got to be a moogle. Its really fun once you make it in.
As for the timer, for all we know it might be random and Aether was unlucky enough for him to not spawn for 10 hours.. but then that means there might be other 10 hour gaps or potentially worse gaps possible during the event. If a person has a busy schedule, they might be stuck camping on the weekends. I had just hopped on to send my retainers out before I started getting ready for work but was lucky enough to catch it shortly before the NPC poofed away *_*
This spawning/despawning thing happens in other MMOs too, to help space out limited-time events and prevent people from bombarding it on day 1 and never doing it again.
That's why they've staggered this one. Because you *can't* go in there alone and live, you'll get slaughtered. So they had to do it this way to make sure enough people would participate each time.
Why not make a damn schedule then? No one wants to check in every hour for 10 hours. People have jobs. Or need to sleep?! Basically everyone in my fc who knows there's a second part to the event has thrown it in the too hard basket cuz no one really cares about the earrings. The other half didn't even realise this instance existed. I've had to write in our company board explaining that you may have to wait 10 real life hours for this event.
There's been some questionable decisions made recently but this one has really given me pause.
I'm just super sad there's this great instance that people are going to choose to miss because it's too time gated to do.
Man, when I thought this event was just bugged and they'd fix it I had a much more positive view on it. Now it's a complete 180. What a terrible, terrible event. Editing my other thread.
It can happen. My first go was with one other player into a fresh instance. We managed to kill the Garleans but it wasn't even a contest on the Morbal. Left and got another fresh instance this time with lots of folks and after a bit of carnage and a few deaths was able to finish all the fates. I have no idea how the game is figuring the number of players to only group two as we had a bunch waiting around the recruiter and based on what I saw in the 2nd instance the other servers should have as well.
The community can all finally come together and agree on something. It's bad that the terrible execution of the 5th year anniversary event was the thing to do it.
I'm hoping the respawn timer starts getting shorter the longer the event is going on.
A schedule of 3 hours up/10 hours down (if that's what is happening) means no one should miss the event since the spawn times will be changing daily. It's easy enough for someone to create a spreadsheet that will list the spawn times through the end of the event if it's a set pattern and post it. Then players can check to find the next spawn time convenient for their schedule.
Assuming that is how it is timed, for the remainder of August the NA data centers will have start times of:
Tonight (Aug-27/28) 2am EDT/11pm PDT
Aug-28 3pm EDT/noon PDT
Aug-29 4am EDT/1am PDT and 5pm EDT/2pm PDT (already hitting prime time for the east coast)
Aug-30 6am EDT/3am PDT and 7pm EDT/4pm PDT (prime time central and mountain)
Aug-31 8am EDT/5am PDT and 9pm EDT/6pm PDT (now prime time for west coast)
Unless you're one of the rare people who have a totally crazy work schedule, it should be active at a time convenient for you sometime this week if this is a set pattern. Even if you do have such a schedule, with the event lasting 3 weeks it's bound to coincide with when you're online at some point.
I got to do it last night and it was fun. I don't care about the earrings either but I did stock up on the novelty items. I plan to go back when I can to level up alt jobs since the XP per FATE looks to be good. I got 36.8k per FATE on 68 WHM compared to 32.4k I got when I did a level 50 standard NM FATE in CWH to compare. Certainly it will be a good change of pace for those leveling alt jobs in the 30-50 range and decent even for 51-60 (over 60 the XP doesn't amount to much but it's still a fun way to pass time).
Don't let the awkward start get you down. It's worth doing at least once just for fun.
Even so, the poor way it has been handled so far has already left a bad taste in people's mouths. If a person's schedule means that they won't have an opportunity to do the instance until halfway through the event's run, or when the event is close to ending, it's hard to imagine that they'll enjoy it after waiting so long.
NPC has again spawned at 4 PM Pacific. The ten hour window theory has been refuted.
Welp... I think another reason is because... they created an exp monster.
I managed to get the Event done for 3 more of my alts, so 5/8 characters done with event.
On the last character I ran through it today, my instance began dying after the final FATE in the string of 5. I entered during the Marlboro fight though, so I needed to clear one more FATE to got to 100 tokens. However, the Garlean FATE was supercharged when it spawned and we were not able to complete during the 10 minute timer. I ended up getting Gold Rating on a Failed FATE, which awarded me 10 tokens... so I was still short by 10 to 100. Marlboro Spawned right after, and my instance now had less than 20 ppl in it. I ran over to hold the adds, and ended up dying cuz no one was healing me. Ended up dying, but rest of players pulled the Marlboro back from the adds. I released, ran back, and it was dead... in less than a minute. Fortunately I was in a light party and I did tag the Marlboro at the beginning, so I was awarded Silver credit and 10 tokens.
So... confirmation that the difficulty of the FATES does scale... and since they trigger continually based on when the previous FATE is defeated... In theory, the exp gains for 51-60 in a low pop instance could be rather ridiculous...
Event is completely dumb. Talk to npc and transported right into a battle and dead. What's with these new events there coming up with. there not fun at all like they use to be.
Confirmed. NPC Up on Balmung.
is the first fate/instance of rising recruiter stuff supposed to be empty/solo?
Just finished in Zalera from 4 PM to 7 PM Pacific Time. I managed to get my main, 4 Alts & my wife's character (who was at the gym when popped) during this window. I just need 3 more Alts and done with this craziness!
That is caused by the poor object culling algorithm SE uses. I had opened a defect on it and went round and round that certain things like your current target and group members should never be culled and everything else should be range based with furthest culled first. I was basically blown off that there wasn't a problem and it was all my fault they couldn't handle high population events.
My first time in is was just another random player and myself. We managed the Garleans ok but could handle the second fate so we left. I requeued and ended up in a new instance with lots of other players. I don't know why the first assignment was wonky as there were lots of waiting players talking to the recruiter both times I queued.
Dont they have a system where the fate is scaled depending on the amount of players in it? So if somehow over the whole course of the event only a handful of people are in it, they would still be able to clear it if it scales to that. Or they could make it into a duty finder and give tomes as a price and people might just to it just for that. There are many more ways instead of just making something that they did not even communicate with us. (They could have also given more items to farm for thus people need to be there more than once..)
Also tell us when it will pop because casual players dont have the time to wait for hours and hope that it spawns. If you are unlucky you might even miss this one..which never happened to any event before.
