What jobs are we hoping to see in the next expansion?

there are jobs id like to see in game but i need to see the state of current jobs changed to allow the new jobs to pop up.

Geo = CNJ
viking = maruder
theif = rouge
necromancer = slight twist on smn / sch
i dont feel we can have new jobs in the current state of the game.

I wanna see Dancer for all three roles.

I would love to see a Gunblade class, but I am in the minority in that I want the kind that Lighting has and not the kind that Squall had. Other than that a Rune Fencer might be nice but they would have to be careful not to copy too much from the RDM already in the game. I doubt we will get either next Xpac though, I would hope they add a tank and healer class.

id love to see rune fence in the game as a mix of gld and rdm as a spell blade thats what i wanted to see from rdm

I want nunchucks.

I want to spin them around and around and smack some blunt damage on a mob's head. We need more blunt damage dealing jobs.

I really wish for a tank for the lack of tanks in the game, something that the other tanks lack as a whole let's just say.

I want to see a tank class that drives a tank. Think Aethertech from Aion and imagine your character driving something similar to but much color than the magitek mount to tank. Except it has arms and punches things! Yes I’d like that.

I'd actually really rather this be a dungeon or content-tier-specific thing upon entering Garlemalde. Go your as job, or go (predominantly), as a given mech.

I want dancer

I am dying to see beastmaster. That's the only class I care about TBH, but I want them to get it right. Not like XI. Please give beast master proper taming of pets.

puppet master (or rather minion master) that uses minions to attack might be a cool idea.

Geomancer is expected as it was often raised in SB.
Dancer has quite a lot of demand from players.


Definitely need tank and healer role in the next expansion. Perhaps either 2 healer classes or 2 tank classes in the next exp (or 1 each)
No more DPS roles for the time being please.

I still say I'll be shocked if we get a tank and healer next expansion. Geomancer seems to be the most hinted at and an original FF14 job wielding a gunblade "might" be hinted at with us going to Garlemald.

However the player base seems to really want Blue Mage and Dancer so they "may" be put in if they can make the lore work with them.

I don't think they will ever do a Beast Master or a Puppet Master considering all the trouble they've had with Summoner not feeling like a Summoner and them not getting new pets except in glamour form.

They mentioned Arithmatician, Templar, and Geomancer in the 24 man quest line. Maybe the Templar could be the name of the Garlemald job? Arithmatician seems like it would be overly complicated if it worked like in FFT. Maybe if it was a healer and all it's abilities were math themed? Still seems far fetched.

If we're going to Garlemald for the next expansion, I'd like to see the jobs based around it like they were for HW.

Some kind of chemist healer. Since they can't use magic, maybe they'd have something like machinist's lunchbox to draw aether and convert it into various effects that they would shoot to allies/ enemies.

I like guns. Garlemald likes guns. It's a perfect fit, right?

tank a gunblade tank and a dps caster

-Gunhammer garlean magiteck tank ala nero.
-Thavnairian dancer healer/saboteur.
-Range whip user blue mage dps ala ff8 quistis treppe(shockwave pulsar lb3 here plz)
-Gunblade garlean range/melee mix dps ala RDM.

-Gather hunter axe/knife job for fur, hide and so on.
-Crafter Magiteck garlean engineer (for new gun hammers/blades, empiresque furniture like alamigho dungeon laser walls, hunter and its own class tools, one can be very creative here).

Being honest NIN mug is not working as desired when farming mobs drops, AST is healer/support so if dancer enter as healer, debuffer spec its a noce useful twist.

Templar, based on a certain Bravely Default character who goes "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" twice during his boss fight.

Goes without saying what part of the job trinity that falls into.

I mean, Bravely Default is techically considered a Final Fantasy even if it doesn't have it in the name.
Vagrant Story doesn't either, and we still ended up with stuff from there.

There are a few I would like to see come out.

Rune Fencer (Tank)
Geomancer (Healer)
Beastmaster (DPS/possibly a Tank)
Blue Mage (DPS/Healer)
Gambler (DPS)

I understand most of the population wanting dancer to be a healer largely due to the "OMG we need more healer and tanks!".... which I agree, but the thing is dancer has never been a full healer.... I mean they tried it in XI and failed due to it not being able to keep up with Dmg output and pt debuffs.... at which point they changed some aspects of the game and turned dancer into what it should have been from the start a DPS/saboteur which (speaking from personal experience) it excelled. On top of this..... in past FF dancer(I can't speak on 5 cause I never played it) has always been dmg/saboteur. Look at mog from 6... yes there were a few skills that enabled minor healing but vast majority of the spells that came from his dances were offensive dmg(maybe a couple debuffs).

Tactics... dancer was a pure sabateur for the most part. It could do dmg but there it was meant to stand back and provide field wide debuffs.... FFX-2 songstress dress sphere dances were all debuffs.... the songs, i.e. Bard side, doubled hp but the dancer side was there to cripple enemies.... Can't speak on XII but from reading.... I read Penelo's dance skills were debuffs.... yes she was a white mage as well but her healing didn't come from her dances. So with all this said I would love the see dancer be a dps/support like brd and then the second job be either a tank or healer to satisfy the masses for either their tank or healer spot.

Blue Mage has never historically been a tank either, but the majority of idiots players demanding it want it as a tank rather than as the DPS it has been in nearly every other game except XI.

At this point, I'm starting to think any job idea drawn from XI is intrinsically stupid just because of how much that game has skewed perceptions of jobs in the series.

Certainly it could be. But that being possible does not make it the best choice for adding interesting gameplay and satisfying design within the context of this game at the time it's added.

I dunno, I think the game kind of needs to add more interesting gameplay and satisfying design to healers and tanks just as much as they do to DPS. >w>

Personally, I think Dancer is one of those jobs that are in a unique place because it doesn't have a set niche: in one game, it can be a pure support job, in another it's an enfeebler, and in another, it's a melee hybrid-job. I think it's varied past can allow it to fit either DPS or Healer roles.

I'm right there with you. I recently picked up Astro and I can basically just arrange my bar exactly as I do for WHM. "Okay, this gravity is basically holy. Lets put that there. This is medica, and if I'm in Diurnal then this one is basically medica II. Kay, this is my aero and this is my stone...." Almost everything is pretty much an existing spell from one of the other healers with a different name.

I'd absolutely adore to have a dancer healer class. That sounds fun, especially if they take their time on the casting animations. Astro has some lovely animations and I'm happy with it, especially compared to some of the older white mage ones. I'd be interested to see what they do with it and how they can make it stand out.

Perhaps since it's a dance, it should have combos similar to things you see in Samurai or Ninja classes, where when strung together it will function as different steps to a complete dance and then provide a certain bonus effect. Something I'd like if they could do is make people immune to future status effects for a certain period of time instead of just removing them once they have one (I don't recall any other spell doing this currently). And I don't imagine they would do this but it would be interesting if they had a special interaction with bards wherein their healing gets stronger if a bard is playing a song. I feel like dancers should have a focus on AoE healing since a dance can be seen by all but I'm not sure the practicality of that considering a lot of times that would just be overhealing. But I feel like their AoE heals could stand to be much stronger than that of other healers. But this is just me throwing some thoughts in the dark.

(Also, I thought they extended the character limit on the forums? Wth, just got busted for less than 2k characters....ugh...)

And were that treatment -- an emphasis on add more interesting gameplay and satisfying design -- permitted to tanks and healers, I'd be right behind you. Personally, I'd prefer Dancer to be a Healer-Melee-Enfeebler-Buffer hybrid. But if we're talking only a small bend from tradition, I'd prefer it be in the realm of a Ninja or Bard, as a utility-heavy DPS, if only because that role offers it a semblance of uniqueness in niche and allotment/balance of outputs that this game does not yet effectively allow tanks or healers.

Dancer is so much different from other healers esthetically and thematically, that them making a dancer healer and not making it somehow unique would be quite a challenge. I mean, another caster is just going to be another caster. But a non-caster doing what's normally considered a magical feat? That requires some thought put into it to be reasonable, so unless they want to make a completely different class and just slap on "Dancer" on its title...yeah. They'll have to go original or go bust.

And yet...no one really seems to care for healers/tanks to have some uniqueness to them in any way, shape or form. Tanks and healers are bland not only in mechanics, but also thematically, for the most part. Every cool class concept seems to be dragged into the DPS tree.


This is an MMO game. Comparing the jobs to a single-player game, where tanks or healers archetypes don't really exist in the same form, is bad. But there needs to be tanks and healers in an MMO that is based on the role trinity. Something needs to do that. Giving more generic "knight" sort for tanks and generic magical healing is just going to be extremely boring even beyond the mechanics. Healer/tank playing players want some really cool class concepts to be sent their way too.

I know my husband wants to see Dancer as:
- takes a dps slot
- does "no" dps
- does strictly pure buffing
- buffs THAT much (to warrant eating that 1 dps slot)

I've wanted Dancer to be something similar to bard in another game:
- doesn't do much damage
- strings skills together to make "notes" (these could be dance steps in FFXIV)
- 4 notes (steps) creates 1 buff that lasts a time
- different notes (steps) trigger different songs (dances): from aoe healing, to large movement speed, to attack increase, to a massive self shield that reduces damage and gives MP back when struck), to lower opponent's attack, to creating vulnerabilities in opponents, etc
- each song (dance) can only be triggered only so often
- some songs (dance) need a target and cannot be done without it (things like the attack buff; in this other game, only healing could be done whenever - all other buffs required a target to hit)
- could be healer or dps and would pretty much work identically, just heals (and some buffing) instead of an emphasis on potent buffing

Such a job cannot exist with how FFXIV is currently designed. Either those buffs are so impactful they become all but demanded by the community (3.4 Astro) or don't offer enough to justify the DPS slot, thus no one will even look at the job. There simply isn't a middle ground with pure support based jobs in this game.

I want my Dancer!

I think that Dancer is very likely next due to demand, and it would be a healer with it’s own flair similar to scholar, The only thing up in the air is what they would add for our new tank class, and if Geomancer has been a hint to one of our new jobs since they have been displayed multiple times in our face.

Honestly I think we should get Dancer (Healer) and Blue Mage (Tank) because these jobs are popular enough for people to warrant them a chance, and they are unique enough that they are certain to play differently from what currently exists in the game. Another thing I foresee is DRK and AST getting a complete revamp to give them a more proper and unique identity.
