They were talking about the difference 15% can make and gave different examples to support it. Saving 15% of time by driving appropriately is essentially the same as clearing content 15% faster. She was not in any way saying the game will progress your life in the way a 15% pay raise would. But it seems you decided to ignore that to go the tic tac toe route.

Just realized something about the novice hall, which we might have to wait until Tuesday for the answer. In the example shown, the challenge is to avoid aoe. If you stun a move, would that still count?

I suppose they will be stun immune, and I don't think you'll only have to avoid one...
But even so, what I heard was that you were to avoid AoEs for a period of time, not a number of them, was it not? Then it wouldn't matter if you avoid a few by stunning when all you have to do is survive till X time runs out O_o?

Gap will be closer, but not enough to threaten BLMs. They also got an adjustment to how spells work under AF/UI (as well as longer durations of both), which should help them out further. Ruin III is still a limited spell because of the high MP cost outside of DWT. Also having better AoE is only a big deal in AoE centered encounters, when raids are primarily single-target encounters.

After the patch, you will be able to get esoterics at the same rate as you get law before the patch. Therefore, it takes the same amount of effort to get the items after the patch as it did before. All previous times they changed tomestones, the rate of acquisition was lower, thus they also had to lower the price of stuff.

Yes they have to change it, but they did not with unidentified items, thats the point.

The point you are missing is that they don't need to lower the cost because you are getting the same amount of the item (esoterics) to get the anima items in the first place. That is what I was trying to get across in the first place.

A healer shouldn't need to dps in fights unless that mechanic allows them eg Ravana ex during Lib cast when hes red..if a healer has to dps, then the dps are not doing their job properly...

"sigh" nvm you aren't getting the point probably never will....point is eso will be given out for the same amount as law, and the gear will also be costing less, which is also in the patch notes. No longer replying after this.

This is true but a healers main role is the health and well being of the party members their first priority is keeping everyone topped up with most of the fights now having large aoe burst damage, a healer dpsing is not an option...maybe during the bits of fights where the boss is not dealing massive spike damage the healer can dps.

Like i said like in Ravana ex or Final coil...not in every fight, a healer should not be kicked from a party because they did little to no dps.

Extra DPS to speed things up is always nice.

However, healers *needing* to DPS to pass checks or to kill things in a reasonable amount on time...should not be a thing (outside of the cutting edge of early progression raiding). Same for tanks. And you see this too often. DPS really do need to stop being so damn lazy and do their job.

Oh, yeah, don't get me wrong, I definitely agree with this. At the same time, however, I'm not going to lower my DPS on purpose, or flat-out refuse to DPS (as long as you have the opportunity for it of course, without placing the party in danger) just because someone in a group isn't pulling their weight. If a wipe messy run or wipe occurs, however, due to a messup in the DPS department outside of cutting-edge content, I agree that it is mainly the damage dealers' issue.

in cutting edge raids.... ppl arent lazy :/ , just not geared enough to make the dps check , so tank and healers dpsing help push that phase or kill the boss. Lazy dps dont make it pass DF raids...no1 will want a lazy dps...nor heal or tank for that matter

and once geared or on farm ....both tanks and healers deal even more dmg , since u know the encounter and tanks dont take as much dmg as before and your heals heal for more so letting a tank drop to 7k is ok since u only need 2 heals to top ...when before u needed 3 before tank buster ect

they admitted that "outside of the cutting edge of early progression raiding", which ideally is the only place you should have required healer dps. I think they were pretty fair in their statement. And yea I agree with both of you - DPS can be lazy in some post-cutting edge raids because they know healers will compensate for them.

It makes perfect sense, lower damage means harder to hit high DPS checks. Even non raid fights like Odin and Titan proved that anything reducing DPS at certain times was a very bad thing to do. 3.2 is going to be a interesting patch because of the changes to several classes. Gray areas of the game are going to be flirted with for a time being and only time will tell if things work out for the best.

As usual the patch praises slackers and punishes people for even trying. Nothing changed. Look at the notes red script items will drop from dungeons now? Whats the point of people trying to acheive something for their crafting jobs again if you are gonna give everything as a handout to people? I'm playing FFXIV A Communism Reborn rather than playing a game that can gave some sort of competition and you get rewarded for putting effort in and doing stuff. Its really sad to this that so many people accept this bogus carrot stick mentality of gaming.

I play mostly to hang out with my friends on all 3 servers I have chars in. The community is amazing gameplay decisions are horrible and will continue to be like this until we as players stop accepting this garbage.

Limiting players with a weekly cap preventing them from getting the new amazing boring repetative gears with the new amazing currency. Even if we wanted to gear up all our jobs the weekly limit prevents us. By the time we reach job 4 or 5 the gears are useless again and a new patch is out giving out new gears with new ilvls etc killing all progress and acheivement again and again and again and again. Hamsterwheel galore!

There is so many things to say thats so wrong with this continued mindless vertical progression for silly ilvl hunts that its getting really tiresome voicing an opinion to care for a brand and game you love so much.

It does not have to go this path! Add some horizontal progression already! Not even the damn casuals that are supposed to be the target group can enjoy their silly gears before they are useless. So where do you even draw the line?

"Required" or not, it's still lazy to just stand there for 5+ seconds in content where high DPS isn't required. I'll leave it at that, because this discussion has been regurgitated again and again, but I think that at the very least, we can all agree that just because something isn't forcibly required of you, doesn't mean we still shouldn't do it if it's going to positively affect the rest of the group.

The ony thing that wont be changed, for now, is the unidentified items. They gotta keep the same so they dont cause any accidental nerfs.

The unidentified items will cost Esoterics now because they are getting rid of Law, and everything that used to give Law will now give that exact amount of Esoterics instead; it's the same thing, the items aren't haven't become any harder to get.

Unfortunately, that's never gonna happen so long as healers continue to marginalize the role of a DPS. It's already been proven in most fights that you don't even need DPSers.

The only reason they changed the price of older relic items was because it took longer to get the new tome you needed to purchase them. This is not the case this time, so there is no reason to change the price.

I don't get the problem with this though... Couldn't we already get Purified Coke/etc. from Diadem? Far more availability out of dungeons though, but I would guess new recipes will add to their demand, in which case a boost in supply makes perfect sense... inb4 the Viltgance-type airship parts require just as much Purified Coke as previous parts needed regular old Coke...

They're moving them from the Law vendor to old dungeons (they're basically irrelevant mats now, like has happened each time we get more) instead of having you buy them with ESO. They want them to be gathered and used.

And I agree, Diadem need some gathering nodes to drop red scrip item like... Put it on Hard mode? (Maybe bad idea since people want 210 gear rather than red scrip item, but 210 gear already outdated tho)

Kind of surprised we don't see more crafters farming Diadem to be honest... Perhaps with 3.2s i220 crafted sets finally giving crafting some real relevance we might? I imagine Diadem will be kept up by increased demand on materia, although I didn't see anything in the patch notes about tomestone/raid gear allowing melds now... Is that still happening? Heck, will it apply to old stuff? I would assume we lost custom stats on Anima weapons because we get to meld them?

To touch on the red scrip mats dropping, I am super excited for this, because it will help me finally get my foot in the door to reliably make red scrips and actually participate in the system without having to be an omnicrafter (which they, supposedly, wanted to kill off, ironically) or spending millions on materia that will be useless within a single patch.

For those who don't know, this is how the gear currently ranks:
1. HQ level 60 crafter gear = NQ crafted DoH AF2
2. Then you have HQ crafted DoH AF2
3. Red scrip AF2 DoH gear = HQ crafted DoH AF2 + max melds on every piece

So with the items dropping in dungeons it is cutting the cost and the grind to make it easier to get people to a level where they can get HQ DoH AF2s crafted so that participating in the red scrip system doesn't require a sacrificial limb. It's not making crafters jump to being the best by any stretch, as the new sets will make even the red scrip AF2s obsolete, but it will make it a hell of a lot easier to get crafters to a point where they can be effective and (albeit slowly) reliably craft for red scrips so they can begin progressing. (Without relying on materia, I should add.)

Looks quite interesting but there's a few things I suspect are grammatical errors. The ability to exchange ventures for centurio seals for example. I think should be that ventures are purchasable with clan seals.

The way it's worded sounds like the gc seals where you can exchange dungeon drops for gcse seals.

Except no one ever learned. See: Pharos Sirius. 99% of the game is all about pumping out MAD DEEPS. Kinda hard to break away from that, especially when you aren't told in game that you should slow down. Then again Steps of Faith had an NPC tell you what to do and people still failed anyway...

1 thing thats always confused me. People will say that this can/is often someones first MMO, Hell it was my first and I understand what they're saying.

However steps of faith can be explained in a few sentences. 1 tank and healer on cannons, cannons focus adds and use snares when up at later cannons. Dps focus on the main boss and ignore adds, one takes care of dragon killer. Tank brings adds to the front for the cannons to kill.

That is literally it. I do not know how after explaining something so simple that people are still confused. The fact that Steps of faith had to get nerfed almost asap does a good job of describing the average skill level of the community.
