I believe the vote was to pay to play or not and atm it's still free. Really not that hard of a concept to grasp, is it?

I voted no. I do like this game - or at least, I do like the direction the game is heading. I do not at all feel it is anywhere near ready to begin charging a subscription price. I am currently playing despite the unfinished state of the game because it is free and I see a lot of promise in the finished product.
However, because I have a very limited budget (and yes - to me even $15 a month has to be spent wisely) and also limited playtime, I need to make sure that if I am paying for something, that I really feel like I am getting the most out of that money. I do see myself paying for a subscription again in the future, but unless something major changes in the next month, I don't really see enough to plunk down my money just yet for this game. I still might, but I am definitely leaning towards no for now.
It isn't just people who hate the game who voted no, and it isn't just people who have no intention of ever paying. Some of us are just going to make a decision to wait until the game is ready and spend our money on something else in the meantime.
For those who don’t like the news:
Wow, what a lot of cheep bastards. You’ve been playing this game for a year free (or at least of cost of the software), don’t post complaints in the forum; just go away. (..and I could give a pot of piss if you want to argue its broken, doesn’t matter, still doesn’t make it your intellectual property.)
People go to work, they get paid to create this, it’s their right to charge a fee, don’t like the price; don’t pay it, just go away.
Good riddance to the players with 50 mules in the Wards, or the players who can’t decide if they are going to keep playing, hey Wow or Rift are great games go there or go anywhere; just go away!
WOW Another mindless dude who doesn't understand the meaning of true value here, it's not like that want to play the game for free, if they gonna pay they want a game that worth the money they gonna pay for, it's that simple and lots of you guys still don't understand.Quote:
Wow, what a lot of cheep bastards.
so how long have you been playing the game for with your lvl 50, and what other MMO's have you been playing at the same time. i'm guessing your paying to play one right now? but then again for your high lvl maybe you devote all your time to FF14. why coz its free??? wonder what free game your moving onto now. i hear lord of the rings has a free game have fun
just saying all these trolls didn't mind playing while it was free. and anyway i think its a SE master plan. get rid of all the hater's and trolls before they start to release all the good stuff :P
No I'm busy studying and looking for a job right now so I can't play games much, FFXIV is the only online game I'm playing right now.
And first thing I want to say is I'm a fan of Final Fantasy franchise and SE, I will play any FF or SE game on any platform (but can finish any of them lol), and the reason I could go to r50 because I had friends here playing with me and I shared alot of good time with them, but now most of my friends left the game (even before I reach r50) and after my main job reach 50 I felt kind of empty, after the 1.19 out I was excited at first but now I'm bored again, there's not that much things to do now.
Who says we do? I only log in once a month to check out the changes and log off again. If they manage to keep what they promised this time, they'll have me back - eventually.
I might pay on and off inbetween but only if it's not the full price, the game is not worth it's full price to me and I don't want to invest into SE and risk getting screwed over like they did it with FFXIV. I hope the initial failure of FFXIV was a hard enough slap in their face to make things right this time and listen to the community when it says the game is not ready for release yet, like we did in alpha/beta.
Well I want to stay too but my circumstances just don't allow me too, I don't have much time to play (only few hours a week), I'm busy looking for a job, my economy is not very good and etc...
But I will definitely play the 2.0.
Well after I done all the tests for the company that I'm applying for right now I will have a good period of free time so I will think about paying or not after the tests (they're are HARD! well I think because it's an airline company).
Nope. Why would I play a game with no content a shitty economy and market system barely any quest that are meaningful and little to no direction in terms of equipment and gear and so many stupid limitations on play time and pay for it? I'll just go back to FFXI full time since there is atleast stuff to do in that game. I don't think the game should have cost money to play considering anyone with a clue is realizing that micro transactions bring in so much more money in the long run. Not to mention no matter how much you attempt to fix the game it's still broken and the fact it took a year to actually get to be playable doesn't deserve to have a subscription.
Honestly keep it free its the only chance the game has wait another year or two make a new FF online that's not horrible then charge for that if you still wanna not follow the current norm that is micro transactions.
by the look of it 2/3 players are staying so i don't think SE have anything to worry about. and out of the ppl leaving its amazing how many say "i only log on for 5 mins once a new patch comes out, to check what has changed" ppl like are not going to be missed either. i'm sure there will be some player drop off. but it will be off set by new players coming. as ppl come and go all the time anyway
I still dont think the game is currectly finished as in terms of payment. Another 1-2 major patches then I think its ok. Still there isnt much content and stuff like Linkshells and Party Search methods need to be still adressed.
well this is how polls work its impossible to ask every1. so you take a poll work out what percentage of ppl on your poll would say then scale it up, to give an overview of what the population thinks. its how we work out which party is winning elections before the election has taken place. its a tool been used for a very long time. tried and tested. so yes i think its fair to say there is a good chance that 2/3 ppl will be staying. but your right. i hope we get some numbers in jp - english translation post and the german one. but till then we only have our own numbers to go on.
Some will stay some will go either way this tiny group of PC players as a whole isnt gonna make or break the game. If PS3 flops thats the ball game.
I donno if I wanna pay 13.00 after paying 75+tax for a crappy game. With games like skyrim RPG and BF3 FPS coming out in a month or 2. waiting for 2.0 seems like a savings to me. Some may stay some will not, but looking at the amount of "we dont want to pay" threads out. I would suggest to charge half Price for half a Game its the only fair option in my opinion.
The game is INCOMPLETE.
2.0 looks Awsome though I cant wait.
have to agree with this. ps3 will be the deciding factor. how many will be willing to try it is the question. it wil recieve bad review for 2 years b4 the release. and many many games will come out between then. D3 tera fool. those are 3 ima try. if i like any of them ide rather pay them for a finished product than pay to test this 1 for SE. SE has to relize that any1 on these forums are fanboys playing the game cuzz we all love FF series. any votes polls used atm will be from a biased comunitee that wished to see this game thrive.
agree with this also ill pay half. not cuzz i cant afford the full price but because thats how the world works. if u have 100% of somthing but are only selling 50% of it why should i pay for 100% and have to wait to get it, and not get compensation why i wait. SE is not broke and those of u acting like they have to charge to stay alive dont know shit. this company is blowing its nose with $100 bills. if they was broke they would have shut down the server after the failed release and remade the game from scratch or just gave up on it. they are remaking the game to please its fans, they know the money will come they saw it in ffxi. even tho that game was so broke and fell short of everything over time due to ps2 limitation. it still made them 1 of the biggest mmo series out there and they made alot of money. they want to repeat that but are taking the wrong aproach to it. how many mmos die because of flop releases... im giving Se the chance to fix it they are giving me free beta sub. thats was a good trade off. paying for beta is not fair nor will it help the flop this game has to overcome.
70% of the people who've liked either of the first 2 posts in this thread have voted that they approve of the subscriptions.
Those are individual votes which are far more indicative of people's overall feelings on the situation than how many threads some people can start about the topic.
Over 2/3 of the people who've given their "thumbs up" for the OP approve of subs being enabled. That tells the story right there. Most people, a clear majority, approve of it.
Those against it may be louder and more vocal about it... But that's all they are.
This is a funny poll.
The people here are committed regardless of what the general population thinks about asking for a sub fee at this point.
Honestly speaking, those people aren't playing the game, and won't be playing the game before 2.0. So why does this sub fee requirement affect them in any way? It doesn't. They still come out to tell their opinion and are all upset about it like it had anything to do with them.
The playerbase has spoken.
I voted no, though.
u see the reason i am trolling is because i am not happy with the game... this is more entertaining than accualy playing this broken crap game. i beat ifrit after 2 weeks of playing i got my choco i road the air ships. i got burnt on exp pts in ffxi, dailys are not fun. what else is there to do in this game? farm gear that is going to be usless once they add all the new stuff? so u can yell as loud as u want ill yell back louder and have fun doin it. i hope u are too.
Awwww... are you two bitter that more people don't agree with you? Angry that yours isn't the more popular opinion?
What a pity.
Here, maybe this will help you both with those sour grapes.
THere is a post by Yoshida about certain part of the future, which has yet to be translated, hope the rep or reinhart translate it as it is a very long post.
Only reason I voted "No" is because I couldn't pay even if I wanted to. They are not ready to start charging till they at least add an option of payment or two. I won't use CnB, and that is the only option that is available to me, it's kinda bad when the company is thinking about asking for money but won't give you the options to do so. Paypal, Direct Debit, snail mail with cash in it, anything would be nice.
Not sure what kind of math you did to get 70%, but as of this writing, 57% of the polled players voted that they would pay. Since individual votes are more indicative of actual results (you said it, not me), that means roughly half of the population will be gone when they start charging.
lol i will blow my nose with a 20 dollar bill then give it to a homless guy begging for food b4 i help this company finacialy anymore than the 80 bucks i did pay to play this game.
im not goin anywhere till they start charing or they ban me, i wont be silenced by sheep like u.
67.346% of online stats are made up.
PS. Like I said before I'll pay I have an envelope and some stamps if adding other payment choices is to hard for them. Just post me SE's billing info.
hmmm....
Ive been around for a while. I read your posts. It seems alot of you are not FFXIV fans i guess and I hope this weeds out the complainers and haters. The game has improved emencly since before the launch and the direction that it is going is awesome. I read complain, complain, complain and stuff get done by SE and you still complain it gets old. Do you think because you complain SE will change it? lagetimate in game issues/bugs i agree with but come on.
Its like a war in these forums alot of the time.
The game is in development and change for the better. I would have paid from the start game complete or not.
I will gladly pay when it is time.
I just want to say to the Director and employees man reading some of these posts in the forums must be tough after all the work you put into it, but you doing a great job and I can not wait for the new changes.
