Well idk, i assumed looking Korean was a bad thing after reading this thread lol...

Wow~~ amazing weapons!!. I'm not a fan of glowing weapons, but seeing these are drops from Ifrit itself, why wouldn't they be BURNING HELL HOT! woooo~
I imagine now the weapons of the the other Primals!! Shiva's giving a frozen look, glowing slightly blue-ish, with bits of ice falling from the weapon here and there!
Titan's weapons made out of pure Rock! (Seeing Ifrit's are made out his Horns! omg!), Leviathan's dripping water? =/... Ramuh's wrapped up in lightning! =O!!! this could definitely be the beginning of really epic looking weapons... and just to say... this are just primal weapons.... Imagine the Relics!!
Hugely exagerated size...
"Hi Cloud, hi Sephiroth, you are no longer liked because your weaponry is now 'hugely exagerated'" :p
Glowing weapons?
Glowing armors?!
The look is nice but..no thanks...
Lol indeed. to be honest the only significant difference between Japanese and Korean anime and art styles (besides the language of course) is that korean characters have smaller eyes.
Korean Anime
Japanese Anime
Other than that art designs and styles are very similar.
Unrealistically large or implausible weapons in a Final Fantasy game?! Stop the presses guys, we have to make sure this never ever happens! I mean it's not like Tidus had a sword made of water or anything, or that Lulu attacked things with a doll. I mean we all know everything in a FF game, especially the weapons, have to be 100% plausible and realistic as weapons in our world.
I find it funny by a lot of comments though that so many people want to play Final Real XIV and not Final Fantasy XIV which is an rpg and they all have origin's back to D&D which has Origin's to Tolkien, which had some pretty unrealistic activity's even in a real sense. Come on people you are playing a Fantasy RPG, if you want to play more real go LARP or something...
Too over the top? Classiness ? Lol, what do you expect? I am happy as hell because they are perfect and different than anything we have had yet. They look like they are made from Ifrits horns and look perfect. Especially the bow. You are just another reminder that people will continue to complain b**** and moan when we get anything that is new.
if you have to complain about this, shoot yourself. if they make it look right with consistency, then there is no issue here.
I wouldn't expect anything less from weapons from the Gods of Beastmen. It is a nice way to add effects of the creature they come from, glowing and looks like they have magma inside is amazing. I expect later primal's weapons to look very unique as well, like Shiva may have ice weapons and Ramuh or whoever they use for lightning will have a lightning effect on weapons. I am just happy they are reskinned weapons.
Artistic Credibility? lol Oh wow... I see your art... but you are not an artist if you say be people can not express themselves or how they want to express what they see as bad... to each there own taste but to say they lost artistic credibility because you don't like it?!?!?! what kind of artist are you?!?!!?
so for all those who complaining, can you make the design that not-over-the-top but represent Ifrit??
Very nice SE, keep up the fantastic work!!
I would have preferred they had gone with a much MORE subtle glow, instead of it being bright as a god's flame.
Plus, the very fact that the weapons suggest that they came DIRECTLY from Ifrit's body, suggests that they killed him.
I don't mean like "avatar kill", but I mean, LITERALLY killed him and ripped those things from his corpse.
Garlemald would be proud.
First considering Ifrit is a god, it should be as bright as a god's flame... that is just ironic statement in and of itself.
Second maybe he gifts part of himself to us as we have proven our worth to him as well? We won't know till we experience the CS's first hand.
Easily. By making the glow MUCH MORE SUBDUED. I don't want it bright, goddamn it.
And instead of making the horns major "weapon" components, I would have gone with something more of a decorative feel using the horns and parts. Like, they would be decorative on the shaft of the lance, or be a decorative handguard on the bow, while retaining natural metal/composite parts so that it still looks like a proper bow.

Or they actually listened to that stupid "We want glowy weapons!" threadnaught that popped up over the summer, and for that I blame you *** for this.
You're missing the point. These weapons COMPLETELY break with the art direction that Square Enix had set forth for Final Fantasy XIV up to this point.
Because of this, we can expect more stupidly retarded weapon designs that make no basis in a "low fantasy" setting like Final Fantasy XIV/XI.
Please, tell me an example of a weapon in FFXI/FF12/Ivalice that have such absurd designs.
the weapon doesn't even glow until you ready them for battle, and they look like they're made out from Ifrit's horns. as I recall, his horns glow.
they're very nice, you forgot this game is called final "fantasy" .. i will not miss the UGLY templar's falchion after acquieing the ifrit's sword :P
ugh, I believe they said XIV was "High Fantasy"
The weapons are fine.
It's not about the scripting they put into the weapon. I am criticizing it as a whole.
1. The design is oversized for most classes.
2. They didn't consider alternative means of "spiffyfying" up the weapon, like...I don't know, actually using a real weapon as the base and using the Ifrit-themed elements as decorative, rather than functional, parts of the weapon. (Like using the horns as a handguard on the weapon, as opposed to being THE weapon)
3. The glow is too bright for my preference, it immediately conjures up horrible memories of Lineage 2 and AION.
4. They probably ACTUALLY listened to the community's *** thread about having glowing weapons. Holy ***, people, way to force a change in the art direction of the game into something that is so contrary to the original direction set forth by Tanaka.
Now, I may have knocked Tanaka in the past, but I think he was right in one thing about FFXIV direction: The art assets. He wanted to keep things "humble" and "realistic".
Are these weapons from Ifrit realistic? *** no.
P.S. Any counter-argument saying that this is "Fantasy" and that it allows anything to go into the game, please do your research. Look at FFXI, FFXII, and FFXIV before this garbage appeared. You can see there is a consistent art direction, and if you can't, you're a *** who only gives a *** if there are shiny goody stuffs to swing your *** around with.
I rather like the weapons. The thing that I really like is they only give off there glow when in active mode. I have a feeling if they were to do any thing like this with major pieces of armor it would be the same deal.
If I'm going to compromise on this issue, I'd rather see weapons be the only thing that glow. If we have glowing armor, I'm *** quitting this game. It will completely destroy the atmosphere of the game with so many people running around Ul'dah wearing the same glowy piece of ***.
I don't want that. That would make it feel like Lineage 2/Aion, and not Final Fantasy.
AND FOR THE *** LOVE OF GOD, [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.], LINEAGE 2 and AION HAS TRAUMATIZED MY MMO EXPERIENCE.
I don't want a repeat of that! The mental scars are just too much.

I could go on.
Personally I like some of them, like the mrd and lnc weapons. The bow looks cool, but a little beastly. Honestly though, compared to those horribly desinged flying contraptions the empire uses nothing looks very rediculous or out of place in the world.
They do not look out of place, seeing they come from a Primal. Good choice of art for the weapons.
With the exception of the marauder weapon they all look pretty hideous to me.
The Ifrit H2H has a similar look to the Verethragna in FFXI. http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...erethragna.png
I've been reading similar responses to PP in the course of a few days. Is this really the best argument you guys have to counter anything she posts?.
Is her credibility affected by her Signature instead of what she's posting?
I will agree her responses are a little bit.... what ever =p But do you need to resort to this to get the upper hand?....
I'm with those who find the style of these weapons inconsistent with the rest of the game. I really dislike them. At the very least the horn-like aspects need to be shrunk down significantly and made sleeker/less rounded.
Edit: I'm trying to compare them to Ifrit himself. I think for instance the axe is fine, but the pugilist weapon and bow are really off.
