If they add the Flayer class (whips), Miqo'te should be unable to use them.
Would be interesting to see race restricted classes, but that would also be extremely annoying, especially if you are locked out of one of the classes you want to play.
I hope they add in class based stats though, trying to balance stats to fit each class can be a pain, especially going mage-melee.
Really looking forward to great-katanas tho....
Ah okay so there's 3. But 3 is a drop in the bucket as far as the MMO genre goes. It's still a fairly unique idea that isn't as widely used as say Sword/Shield, Axe, Lance, etc...(all our current classes). Either way I'd still like to see it, it would add some flavor to the game's classes.
I'm extremely against this though. There's no logical reason any class should be tied to a specific race or gender. It would kind of completely screw over people who are already playing and made their race/gender choices, not to mention going against the entire way the game is played.

I'm also against it, just thought it would be interesting.
You could always add in race abilities or something though, to make each race unique in something other than appearance. Just something to think about.
i got half way through this thread before i got bored. :O someone change the title to 'wasting time with peregrine' so people will skill through to the end.
This thread does a rather good job of cementing my belief that MMO players as a whole are utterly incapable of imagination, and one of the major reasons WoW is so popular is because it holds your hand to the extent that you simply don't have to think for your self (and in the few cases where you do, there are mods for that).
Many of the classes that people are clamoring for can be created using the classes already in the game. Just because it doesn't spell it out for you in bold letters on your character sheet doesn't mean it's not the case. =(^.^)=
Seeing as your ideas ruined the first FF14, not really interested in you all doing it again.
These are poor ideas for this game.
Delete them. Add the jobs everyone is here for.
You're not being imaginitive. You're not being creative. You're being generic and new for newness sake while bringing nothing to the table.
Those jobs have no role in the final fantasy world. Never did. And they won't.
Gladiator was a mistake. Marauder was an error. Pugilist is a disgrace to the series.
And now you want to add ten more because you think a whip is innovative.
Didn't work the first time. Won't work the second time. You're leeching the FF name when you belong playing dead MMO after dead MMO because no one gives a **** about your enforcer class in the end.
This is non-negotiable. Stop the generic crap aimed at generic players. Make this a Final Fantasy or it's finished.
Peregrin You are still treating the Weapon Classes we have in XIV as if they were Job Roles like XI when they are not.
Litterally all Gladiator means is "Sword User" Its someone who uses a sword Their only role in battle is using a sword.
The Job System will implement roles that a "Sword User" can perform like Tanking (Paladin), Subterfuge (Thief), Healing/Nuking (Red Mage) or any other combination you could want.
If you need proof of this just translate the Japanese forum lists.
Class
Professional wrestling / professional fencing / professional art ax / professional archery / professional 槍術 / illusionist / professional magic / teacher mining / teacher Horticulture / fisherman / teacher carpentry / smiths / armorer / chaser / leatherworker / tailor / alchemist / cooks
A Paladin is not a Sword User, they are someone who puts themselves in front of others and takes damage meant for their friends. (A Tank). They use their High Defense, Their High Health, Their Healing Abilities, and their Holy Magic to perform that task. They can use Swords, Shields, Spears, Clubs, Hammers, and Staffs amongst other weapons to perform that task.
A Gladiator is a Sword User. They can be a Tank, A Thief, A Mage, etc.
