Chill dude, I'm not physicaly hurt by playing in Eureka, I'm just not entertained and bored as much as I can be, I expect the game to actualy do better at being fun and said so when he failed at it. I value the carrot on the stick enough to be bored and annoyed while chasing it, its not like they already decided what come around in the next 15 month and my participation in those will change a thing, be realistic.

While I don’t need the BRD relic for gear or glamour now, I was determined to complete it for the sake of completion when Anemos came out. And I actually really enjoyed Anemos, despite some mild belly-aching while leveling up during it. But I spent 6 hours in Pagos the day it came out and I hated every second of it, and I decided then that getting my completed relic wasn’t worth me participating in content that I absolutely despised.

I spend time in FFXIV to have fun. Suffering in Pagos for a weapon that was nothing more than glamour wasn’t worth it for me. So I invested my time elsewhere, and now I have an even better bow to glamour. And the same will be said for my AST weapon glamour—because that’s the only weapon I found appealing in Pagos, and its Pyros incarnation is also beautiful. But now, I can get one even better.


Not participating seems to be the only way the developers will acknowledge that Eureka is a mess that most people do not like, because they don’t seem to listen to the constructive feedback given about it—or, if they do, it feels cursory at best. Stepping foot in there tells them that you will do whatever it takes to get a shiny, regardless of how miserable you are. And that’s not the message I want to send video game developers.

People are more than welcome to enjoy the content—but if you don’t enjoy it and go in anyways to chase the shiny carrot? Sorry, I don’t really agree with such a practice.

That feeling when I have a member from my static that actually hurt themselves grinding Pagos to the point they're now stuck raiding with a class they hate because their wrist can't handle the class they like... And they hated every second of Pagos too... all for the relic.

Be careful with how much you value the carrot at the end of the stick.

It's optional content if people don't like it boycott it and let us who enjoy it deal with pain.

Optional content that has the Relic shoved behind it; optional content that was supposed to be one of the main attractions of the expansion, and which has failed spectacularly. Not to mention optional content with various vanity items locked behind it that the developers knew people would want (like the Pyros housing items). People are well within their rights to express their disdain when the developers have consistently ignored all the constructive criticisms players have made about Eureka. Don’t like it? Don’t read the complaint threads.

Which you're welcome to do just as the players who don't enjoy it are welcome to express their opinions to SE.

Though for someone who claims to enjoy it, I'm a bit confused on why you associate it with pain.

Agreed. It's also 'optional content' that takes development resources away from content that more people might enjoy. Frankly I don't mind SE trying something new and trying to get it to work, my biggest complaint with this MMO has always been that there's not enough innovation to keep my interest sustained outside of roleplay. The latter of which is dictated entirely by the community I find myself in and has very little to do with SE aside from them providing zones to visit and the MMO to cavort through. The issue here is that Eureka isn't something new. It's them attempting to relive the glory days of XI in the worst possible way, and with Pyros it'll be their /fifth/ attempt to shove this unpopular system down everyone's throat with an increasing amount of carrots thrown in each time.

Being upset that that money isn't going to something actually innovative or at the very least improvements to serve infrastructure is totally reasonable. To be angry that content people desperately want is also being used as the incentive because the developers know full well most people wouldn't touch it otherwise is also reasonable. I personally feel insulted that SE expects the Relic and the glamour items I actually want to be enough incentive to bolster their numbers for this train wreck, and it's why I refuse to touch it. I get liking Eureka. I cannot and will not like it because I find it horrendously designed, but I know my tastes aren't the same as everyone else's. I don't think it's unreasonable however to give the niche amount of people who like Eureka a smaller offering like Ultimate was for Raiders, if they cannot put themselves to the task of actually revamping the content.

I would also like to point out to all of the people who enjoy Eureka (leaving "enjoy" alone, it's their definition) - if they hadn't crammed a bunch of non-Eureka stuff (glamours, hairstyles, emotes, mounts, housing items) into Eureka, most of us would be leaving you alone with your enjoyment. I've said it and I'll say it again - I don't care if Eureka is in the game, because I support giving content to different groups, just like I supported Ultimate, I supported Rival Wings, I support the various other pieces of content. My complaint is when they try to jam content that 1) is for other groups, when the original idea was to have "something for everyone" or 2) supposed to be catered to the majority of the game, into something that a minority enjoys. Because whatever you want to say, the Primal/Savage weapons were for the raiders, and the relic was for the rest of us who wanted something to invest some time into but not do raids/spend 39 hours a day.
