Can we discuss how abusive the GM department is when it comes to 'Grief Tactics'? A

2 facts that people need to accept in order to have a salt-free hunt experience:

1. There are no early pulls, only late arrivals.

2. Resetting mobs is a reportable (and bannable) offense.

Be mad at me if you want; I’m not the one who set that precedent. I simply choose to acknowledge the reality of things.

I also don't think it's right that the person who spawned the hunt -- who had the courtesy to reset it for those just arriving -- should be penalized.

However, if it were not done this way, anyone could go and reset a hunt mark and claim "Oh I was doing it for the people who hadn't come yet!" (even if they weren't), and hunts could be reset forever with no repercussions. That's taking it to an extreme level but you can see how the GMs have to look at it. I think it's nothing against your friend, and I'm very appreciative of hunters and the work they do, but sometimes a decision like this has to be made, even if it isn't popular or fair.

Breaking the TOS just because the devs can't be assed to design better hunt pop conditions and claiming is still breaking the TOS. As others have said, attacking an unclaimed hunt mob is well withing the rules of the game. Resetting a mob because someone else won't do what you want them to is griefing.

They could alleviate the issue with hunts by scaling it by how many people attack it but that's too hard for them to code properly so we're left with these hunts from lvl 50-60 that die within seconds leaving people salty, had Agrippa the Mighty spawn last week and he died in 5 seconds and people were screaming about early pulling. I don't care if it's pulled early or whatever Hunts are underwhelming and if people do a shoutout and I'm in the area cool I'll join and do what I can to make the most threat to get the best contribution I can, hunts could be removed from the game and you'd never even notice it tbh it's just more padding for an open world feel that's empty.

It's true that there's no rule for early pulling. Although it's not called a rule, but common sense. If others did wait for you, it's common sense for you to wait for others too.

I've just googled S rank spawn conditions and the vast majority of them can in fact pop completely randomly, only a couple are so specific to warrant any particular "work", such as the Ruby Sea S rank.

Theres no such thing as early pulling.

OP's friend doesn't get to decide for everyone if its time to start swinging or not. The mark is not theirs, its open world content.

The only way to prevent someone who is known to be an early puller would be to excommunicate them from all the major hunt linkshells. If they don't know about it they can't pull it. Otherwise, it's fair game as far as SE is concerned. Hunt doesn't actually belong to anyone and only common decency requires you to actually wait for any length of time which some people are seriously lacking.

You must be mixing A ranks and S ranks. A ranks randomly spawn and do not have spawn conditions. All S ranks have spawn conditions are not just random spawns. You must meet spawn condition requirements before S ranks will spawn.

^Pay attention if the hunt is a B, A, or S rank and you will see none of the B and A rank have spawn conditions while all of the S ranks do.

Ok, at the same time, the people working to spawn the S ranks are under no obligation to call out the S rank and can just kill it without telling anyone. People doing the work are giving a courtesy waiting a couple minutes before pulling to give people who aren't spawning to come and get credit too. Don't know how Balmung hunt community is but I hope you don't get salty if the ones working to spawn decide to stop calling out the hunts if you are one of the ones leeching off the work the hunters put in.
