I have known people who haven't seen either Giant Takitaro or Mahar at all for a couple of years and they consistently fish when they can in the available windows. Mahar is the worse of the 2, because it requires mooching also, Giant Takitaro even with Patience 2 just.. even for me doesn't happen, and having an 8 hour window (ET) most of the time doesn't help.
Nepto is like the opposite, it semi reasonable to get the buff to catch him, but to actually reel him in is mind numbingly annoying because his escape rate is extremely high. But at least there is a chance lol
Kuno for me was the easiest of the 6 to catch, and that required 2 double mooching.
I will add though, they should make gathering and perception more useful in fishing, having it as a bar to have a specific amount to catch a specific fish and perception bar to start catching HQ fish can also be annoying. Perhaps whatever the gathering rate is to be able to catch say Nepto, for every 50 gathering after why not add a 1% catch rate. That way higher level fishing slightly pays off and feels like you are stronger in the job. -

I used Shonisaurus as an example because it was a 4-5 mooch and I was going after Mahar. 4.8% uptime isn't that great and waiting on weather. I also caught all 5 other fish in the past 48 hours. GarlandTools is just a mess to navigate on mobile. The link I posted is specifically for tracking big fish. I use it in conjunction with FFXIV Angler. I am not looking to sort by region. I am looking for what is up, what is coming up, and what bait I need. It has yet to lead me down. It took me 9 windows to get Namitaro with 5 of those windows not even catching a Great Takitaro. There is a reason they call it fishing. If it was easy it would be called catching.Quote:
