Overreaction to Astrologian buff.

Indeed, AST was designed as a hybrid healer, we know that already. It's not going to change, at least not until 4.0, so we can stop whining about that.
But again, it's funny that SCH/WHM in the forum didn't fell an urge to complain about homogeneity when AST was just the weaker version of what it is now and now that suddenly it's almost on par on the healing side (and still much weaker dps-wise) they get so defensive.

lol like all of AST skills are sooooooo useful. Celestial Opposition (lvl60 skill, just like dissipation) and Stella are indeed very useful. Seriously, level AST to 60. Then write down all of SCH and AST skills on a paper, dividing them by healing skills, dps skills and "other". Then you'll see why SCH is stronger.

SCH has ONE bad skill: Dissipation. And it's mainly bad because it was branded as an emergency healing CD and isn't one; at best it's a DPS CD for weaving in additional Energy Drains.

That's actually exactly what it means. When you take an ability, copy it, give it lower mp cost and better potency it makes the original worse.

For the billionth time I'm happy astro got buffed and that they are viable. The issue isn't that there are three healers. It's that there are 2.5

This just isn't true. I could go back and find posts before HW where I said the exact same thing - hybrid healer is a bad/lazy idea. Actually a ton of people had the same exact complaints then as now, its just when it came out and it was severely undertuned people ignored it. All we did was hit pause on an argument that started 3 months ago.

Astrologian is where it needs to be. I played sch from 2.0-2.55 and cleared t13 on sch (hey I had to go whm for some of the learning and I can't stand whm). I loved the concept of AST since I saw it at Fan Fest (vegas local so it was easy for me to go, no travel or hotel cost). So of course 3.0 came out I leveled up AST to 60. Even with the problems I didn't go and level up sch or whm to 60. I believe SE would fix them, and it would just give me time to learn the intricacy of the class.

I did just fine through baby alex, even when I had to solo heal for a bit due to sch in cleric or whm dead. Its only savage where you could really notice how underwhelming ast was, but still I stuck with it. Now i feel AST is on part with the other two healers and I'm so happy. But I feel like a lot of people saying AST still isn't good enough, played another job while they were fixing ast. Having played it while it was broken, I still learned the intricacies of the job, just like you must with sch or whm. Now that the buffs have come, I AM IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING. HAHA not really, but it feels that way.

Also it depends on lot on how good your tank is. A sch can really carry a bad tank, but whm has and ast had a harder time it, now AST is more on part with SCH that is can shield the bad tank from his own bad ways :D My boyfriend plays drk so really I always have a pocket tank, but I feel AST and DRK are so much more in sync now. Don't get me wrong a whm CAN carry a bad tank, I'm just saying that when your bread and butter is pure heaing power and regens, sometimes you are relying on predicting when you need to heal (especially in coil type content), but with a bad tank . . . well he's unpredictable.

I wouldn't even call Dissipation TOO bad....I mean not useless but not really useful either.

This is not too much to ask. Having a 60 scholar myself, I have never once used dissipation. ET had its use in 4 man group, but not so much when your partner isn't a schalor. Bug fixes and improvement are totally welcome to any class, but the fact was astrologian was under performing. It makes no sense to ask for last buff reverted just because scholar quirks aren't improved.

I feel that we should embrace having AST around as there will be more variety and options in what parties can take into content. Do you want to have 5 DPS and a healer, do you want MNK/SMN to be broken and have 2 healers, do you want to have 5.5 DPS and burn stuff down faster than ever...

Contrary to my opinion yesterday, I really think that this is a good direction for us to head in, at least for the current moment.

I get what you're saying now...but then you would have to hold your breath if you honestly think SE is going to make a new healer with their own uniqueness in healing.

PLD and DRK should have been a hint ._..

Implying ET is usefull , you are just gimping yourself using it , due to the risk of overhealing, and guess what , there is no difference between 1.1k shield and 1.1k extra heal its same effective HP , so why should you use ET in the first place since it adds nothing at all, criting adlo with ET is teribad, sure 12k crit ohoo big numbers but >50% of that is a huge overheal unless you use it on some1 who is dying but that happens only and only if you dont do your job.
