FFXI did this once with a limited time RL item.
I have no idea where my tidal talisman is anymore. I'd say 99% of the buyers just wanted the in-game item. It cost $43 and actually did use a very useful feature.
I'd rather not do the RL item thing again unless the item sold has a purpose (moogle deliverer can be decor, the music discs are something to listen to, etc.).
Anyone Pro cash shop?

Based on my experience with sub/cash shop mmorpgs--over time-- most of the cool goodies, vanity, and glamour, etc., are exported to the cash shop as cash shop exclusives--and it would make absolute since for them to do so; after all, they are business that is focused on making money.Quote:

I have zero problems with a Cash Shop in a P2P game(or even F2P) as long as it doesn't slink into P2W. To me, XP Boosters or Gold Boosters and other random stuff doesn't even remotely touch P2W for me(Wow...you level slightly faster...in a game where hitting 1 to 50 is doable in 2-3 weeks at worst).
It being completely vanity still works out as long as not all vanity items is stuck behind the Cash Shop(for obvious reasons) OR you can sell the Minions and Mounts to other players off the MP like TERA and Rift and make some cash too. -

I am pro-cash shop in the sense of what I said in the other thread being as long as it is not P2W items and just keeps to vanity items then it's fine.

Yes, I am all for it even though I am fairly sure I won't even afford any of the items.
My rule is, as long as it is vanity only, and does not give players any actual benefits compared to other players, I don't care what you sell and how much of it and for how much, you go ahead and sell what you want. ^.^ -

Just another way for me to get more loot. I don't have a problem with it as long as they don't start skimping on adding great items to obtain in game. There's still going to be plenty of items to chase after for free just not these particular things, get over it.
