Presumably because they felt for a dungeon with AV's reputation, every bit of gear helps, and his experience likely does more to reinforce the notion.

But I suppose it might be worth asking if the dungeon was cleared by a party that doesn't accessorize as it were, see just how useless they are before 50? After all if might be nominally a challenge if its true.

just got out of a run in mt. gulg that was what I'd call a relaxing class session.

three people whom had never done the dungeon before and since i wear a crown i offer advice and they accept. so off we go on small pulls where its obvious our GNB tank is possibly green at tanking. i can heal green. green is preferable to stupid. things got pretty dicey on the first boss, rdm is having difficulty remembering the delayed aoes, dies a total of 3 times. its fine. tank dies shortly after one of them and i need to figure out who to sheild so i can hard cast raise since my swiftcast had just been used. thankfully the boss was transitioning to gale aoes so i had plenty of time to do it. no wipe.

second boss i explain rubix cubes mechanics and get one wrong because i often still forget quad meteors. i end up dying shortly afterward. i deserve that. ask for a ver raise and get one. fine save everythings fine. boss went down a bit slow but when you have 3 people who haven't done the fight before i expect this.

some time down to the last boss because you have to explain things a bit better i do so. this time no one dies! ^.^ tank ate a 3 vuln stack tank buster for 80 k though. yikes. the rdm (or dnc i can't recall which) finally gets how the safe zone during the boss duplicate phase works somewhere in there. but aside from the occassional vuln stack earned everythings good. so i was pretty happy with this squad of new people. people taking active steps to learn aside from me explaining things.

smaller pulls plus shaky dps means the run took close to 36 minutes but if that's 3 people who understand a dungeon as a mentor i can't ask for more. I feel pretty good about those 3 comms i got.

Bc in many cases its a bad habbit that carries over on new players, while older players could get better stuff for 0 effort.

The actual boost from the rings is so negligible you might as well wear them up to 50 and the MSQ gives you 0 accessories anyways so not even SE thought they worthwhile enough to include them as rewards.

Most the rings are not even purchasable from a vendor expecting new players or older players to spend 8-30k per accessory on the MB when they do next to nothing is silly I would always tell a new player to save their money to buy the vendor gear at 50 which allows them to get through all the post 50 content.

If a ring happens to drop sure equip it but its not something you should be telling a new player to spend their limited gil on.

No pre 50 MSQ rewards you with an accessory besides the ones that are worse then weathered rings don't make statements when you dont know what your talking about

And this is why people reach lvl cap not having a clue about gearing up, rotations, how to use PF, etc.

"You're just learning/don't bother with it, it's useless/you don't need that"

I wonder if the people saying that expect them to ding 80 and suddenly have a download of information of what to do to their brains.

I mean the game already allows new player to skip right to level 70 and expect them to be able to jump right into a dungeon despite having no clue what their doing.

I have completed the MSQ before every expansion you don't get accessories from the ARR MSQ quests besides the 15 ring/earring that have worse stats then weathered ones.

HW onwards they gave you accessories from MSQ but if you want any decent accessory pre 50 you need to find a specific side quest that offers it as a reward or spend whatever jacked up price is on the MB.

At this point it's getting stupid. I don't think we should be excusing laziness and I certainly don't think it's unfair for me to expect my tanks to not show up in level 1 gear in a level 47 dungeon. I don't care if the upgrade is minimal, an upgrade is still an upgrade.

Never you mind that this is Aurum Vale we're talking about.

You also apply materia to all your gear right I don't expect my dps/healer/tank to show up to a dungeon being lazy an upgrade is an upgrade and laziness is no excuse.

Aurum Vale is an easy dungeon having run it like 20 times this week many times with new players with crappy gear.

What? The game doesn't expect anything. The player made that choice. All it gives is the option to skip. It's not forcing people to open up their wallets and skip any relevance to learning a basic rotation.

But its smt lazy ppl would do, mostly that kind of lazy that should not even play in the first place...

Who have all approached each encounter with some common sense, instead of willy nillying everywhere and aggroing the entire room, you got lucky, and you know it lol.

No I just take control and explain stuff if I think it's necessary the dungeon is super easy the only "challenging" part is the first room and all it takes is a quick warning to be careful and know where to stand.

Unfortunately that room also has patrolling mobs, and they tend to trip up a lot of newer players, and occasionally me when I swear to god I'm far away enough. Toad gets close, sees you. Suddenly the mob Resc-ruded you.

Other times they could be just 3 feet away from you and are too busy to aggro you because they're on their phone texting their ex.

Imagine thinking "doing AV 20 times in a week" is a brag. Clearly didn't read my post because what I experienced was chaos in its purest form. Too busy defending lazy people.

I'm toxic for not wanting a tank to show up in level 1 accessories. Was it also toxic of me when I asked him to put tank stance on. Was I being toxic when I left for valuing my sanity.

Heck to the no. Sometimes you just get too old for that poop. I left multiple AVs under very similar circumstances yesterday. It's annoying, and consistent. No sane person got the time to explain the fight(s) over and over and over. Not worth the effort. Rather eat the 30 minute penalty than spending 36 minutes in some dungeon nowadays.

LMAO one of the AVs I left yesterday had a tank with no tank stance aggroeing every mob in the room ONE BY ONE, AND MAKING ME HEAL THE WHOLE PARTY BECAUSE HE COULDN'T HOLD AGGRO. I was like yeah nah... LOL!

Admittedly, I haven't been spending very much time in XIV. Quarantine has put me in a bit of a funk and I've been finding it difficult to enjoy games right now. That being said, my wife finally convinced me to do some mount farming with her and it was probably the most fun I've had in a while.

We joined a Lakshami EX party and we got everyone their dogs and we even got a few of the tanks their tank mounts (including myself, I apparently was quite close to the first GNB mount). Everyone was friendly and chatty in the times we were waiting for the party to fill up. It was a really good time, I'm glad I decided to go. If anyone in those runs sees this, thank you guys for the good time.

I'm currently leveling some DPS classes, so we did a leveling roulette as DRG and WHM. We got into Sohm Al.

The tank pulled the first two enemies. The NIN quickly used Doton, and, as the tank proceeded to pull more, he used Katon. And then, this:

And he was gone. So weird. I mean, he DID use his AoE ninjutsu, I saw them. So why would anyone who has ONLY a DPS class leveled refuse to do more than single pulls? He must have left so many dungeons by now.

This is blatant misinformation. It'd be like saying you shouldn't wear boots because they give less of a boost than your leg gear. Accessories do make an impact. Not at every tier of accessory upgrade, but you will notice a difference between level 1 accessories and level 40 ones. That's an entire body piece worth of main stat and VIT, which is big for the pre-50 level range.

While the MSQ offers you no accessories, they are supposed to incentivize you to do sidequests. You can buy them relatively cheap at NPCs too, in any city state ever since they updated vendors in the city states to have up to level 49 NQ gear of all types for all slots.

And another reason they aren't given to you as a main reward is the game's lowkey way of teaching you what is most important gear wise. Notice most early quests in he MSQ and your class quests reward weapons first, then body, then leg, then extremities? The quests try to help you out as a guideline, but they ultimately can't play the game for you or make you make the right decisions play wise.

Just cause they ain't a necessity doesn't mean we should accept laziness or endorse carelessness with gearing as you go. It's fine if you're experienced and rolling an alt, but if you're new, you should be trying to gear up as best you can as you go so you can give it your most earnest effort.

And we vets on alts should still be the good example and try to gear up, or else you end up with ppl having barely the min ilvl for stuff which makes things sometimes so painfully slow... And im rly gettin sick of lv 70+ chars on 60 stuff lol

Maybe a long time ago you did sidequest but the current structure for the MSQ gives enough xp that doing that while doing roulettes is more then enough to reach level 50 in fact most of the time you out level MSQ quest themselves most newer players wont have a need to do side quests and the ARR side quest are not on the level of HW onwards in term of story.


I just checked the city vendor and they still offer only up to 29 which gives you a whole 1 extra vitality and the difference from going from level 1 to level 39 in terms of vitality is about 29 hp per ring so about 145 hp for all slots and cost approximately 40k on the auction house, about 40k to not even take 1 extra auto attack from a mob in AV I checked and they auto attack from 200-300. I get you want don't want new players to be lazy but they should 100% be focusing on the left side pre 50 and only equipping right side when they drop.

So, i had i an interesting run in Dohn Mheg yesterday. I am on PLD, other team members are MCH, SAM and WHM the Star (with the capital S) of our (shit)show.
At first i forgot to turn on the tank stance, and we wiped, i apologized, turned it on and then pulled 2 starter packs as usual.
Then i noticed, that despite me using my CDs i am getting really low and i am not sure why. Then i hear Cure sound. And pretty much nothing but it. I expect Holy. Not a single one through out the whole run. No Asylum, no Assize. Occasional Afflatus Solace. Also Benediction when i am at 60%. The run continued at a snail's pace due to Cure spam and almost no damage whatsoever. I think i saw Dia used twice and rarely a glare. Oh, and Afflatus misery a couple times as well.
For the second boss they kept putting Regen on everyone, but me. There were several wipes, because sometimes i'd pull an extra group hoping we'd manage it, but no. Also our MCH was using AoE rather sparingly, like when there were only 7+ enemies, which happened only on that big bee pack. And that was kinda rare because i had to pull really small just to stay alive with our Cure spam WHM.
Overall it took 37 minutes, and Trusts would have been faster.

Just your typical anti-DPS healer.

You're lucky they were even using Afflatus Misery since most of the ones I've encountered don't.

It's also rather common for them to neglect OGCD abilities for some reason.

Well, Tetra or Benison would have been really helpful. Or anything besides Cure, really.

That just sounds like a really terrible healer. I mean I'm usually pretty patient and don't tend to say anything even in the bad groups (unless someone who's doing something wrong tries to blame someone else...) but uh. A healer like that? I'd kick or bail after the first few wipes. In a lowbie dungeon sure whatever, but in a 73+ dungeon? That's just unacceptable. Idec about the lack of dps, it sounds like they weren't even doing their primary job - either because they had no idea how to or because they were being lazy, I guess. Probably the former because I feel like even someone being lazy would get tired of dying over and over. :/

It's why healing needs a rework. It took 37 minutes but you actually cleared. Probably all their other dungeons were similar, as rough as the runs may be, you can Cure I spam your way to 80 and content is actually designed to be possible even when playing that badly. Nothing helps teach you good habits but plenty teaches you bad ones. The Cure I trait in particular is a trap for the inexperienced that needs straight up deleting.

They should 100% be focusing on ALL sides. I don't understand why this is so complicated. Don't use the excuse that "MSQ gives so much experience that sidequest are not needed for newer players" when sidequest in ARR still give: Weapons, Armor, Accessories, and Gil.

If a player can't look at their accessories and realize that their is a BIG difference between the number 1 and the number 47, then there isn't too much to say for them. You have a choice and the game gives you options. If the player chooses to ignore those options, then that's not the game's fault, it's theirs.

At least he used Afflatus Solace and Misery and like 2 Dias and Glares. I had a Dohn Mheg run where the ONLY time the WHM used Glare was when he was in one of the cages the second boss casts on everyone. Or WHMs that never ever use an Afflatus heal. The ONLY buttons they ever use are the hardcast GCD heals, maybe Swiftcast for Raise, if at all.

That's another reason why healing needs a rework. I don't get why SE insists on being able to clear content when playing like that. I mean, tanking is really easy, but after the first few dungeons you at least need to be able to somehow pull enemies and hold aggro to not cause wipes. As a healer you can do the same as in the first dungeon (i.e. press Cure I and maybe Medica) and be fine. The worst thing about that is that most players are totally fine with that too, "as long as they clear the dungeon". Same goes for DPS actually, who sometimes press like 3 different buttons at max.

You seem to lack reading comprehension the difference between 1 and 47 accessories is small get it s-m-a-l-l not large tank a dungeon in 1 and 47 accessorizes for yourself and you can see that is literally makes no difference at all.

I mean your continuing to spread misinformation while not being informed and basing it on nothing.

I have spent the time to test it and telling you there is no reason to have accessories pre 50 it does nothing that could justify spending any amount of gil on it, if you have millions and it makes you feel better buy it but don't force it on newer players.
