This goes the other way round as well.
If I read people write things like "I play for fun only", "I don't feel like giving my best", "Why should I dps I'm a healer", "Tanks should use tankstance" that is where I shake my head, shrug and move away from those poeple and BL them.
And you know what? It's totally fine imo, bc we are so many and ofc our opinions differ, that's what the different kinds of content are for and also we have tools we can use so we don't have to play together. :eek: You can't be best friends with everyone and you don't need to. But what we need to do is stay polite and just go seperate ways like adults.

Sadly there are some people in the game that tend to be rude and harrass others and try to tell them how to play and what to do (in both ways "casuals" <-> "raiders") instead of just letting the other one be and that is the real problem if you ask me. Still this has nothing to do with parsers, just jerks being jerks.

I will be mostly answering to first topic because there are 65 pages lol.

I don't think fun = being casual ALL THE TIME. Yes, everyone needs to be casual from time to time, maybe all the time. I don't judge anyone. BUT, if you are attending a EX Primal fight, a Savage content or Ultimate raids whatever "hard" content there is for you, i think everyone should be doing their best. If their best is let's say 3k dps (i never used parsers, ps4 player, just giving an example), i won't judge them in "casual" content. For me these contents are lower than any EX primal fight. Let's say an average BLM player does 4.5k dps. If this player still does 2-3k dps in an EX primal, i will be criticizing yes. Why? Because i will be doing 5-6k with my BLM. So i will be carrying this person through the content. The idea of mine here is: If the player isn't good, they should improve themselves if they want to do harder content.

Parsers will put this in front. Like, i can know now if a player is bad. For example BLM losing enochian all the time or sometimes they don't even use fire 4 lol. NVM, damn casuals. Like, a SCH doesn't use any of their abilities but only physick... Or like a WHM doesn't use assize. Or like a RDM doesn't even raise players when whole raid is wiping -looks at the latest alliance raid boss 3-... So what will parsers change? In theory nothing. These players are already bad. They are not even trying to play good. In that raid the other week, that rdm was semi-afk all the time. Why would i want a player like that in the same game as me? I put %100 of my skills into play - whm dcd before last boss and i healed solo the last boss until it is %30 hp left- , and this player is having a semi-afk time, god knows what they are doing with their hands. (lol anyway).

People don't want parsers because it will tell them how bad they are. You cannot complete a SP game's hardest boss by being bad or semi-afk, so don't do it here as well. Be better, improve yourself. I hardly encountered a toxic party in this game, it may be luck i don't know, but parsers WON'T turn a non-toxic player into a toxic one. There will always be a spot for people who are not "hardcore". I don't think the point is that, i think people just don't like being told they are doing bad / mediocore etc.

In conclusion, i think there should be a self-parser thing, which tells only you how you did. And maybe a recommended point too, like at ilvl360 you should be doing a self 5k dps, but you are 4k so improve yourself etc. It may encourage people to improve themselves.

I doubt we would be having this conversation how much DPS we're doing and whatnot, it was interesting revelation I came upon when looking back on parsing.

No, that would make the savages fights too easy, more than they already are.
You can wipe because the tank loses aggro. You can wipe because the healers didn't time their healing right. With enrage timers, you can wipe because your dps didn't play properly. Without enrage timers, all a dps has to do is play mechanics, something tanks and heals have to do too, but they also have other responsibilities.
A savage win should be something that has to be earned, not something that is presented on a nice looking tablet to you.

No.

DPS players are lazy as it is, I made a bird farm the other day and had to kick about 30~ DPS players before a group was created that was good. There are far too many DPS players that expect to just get carried through everything and put in no effort from their side only because it's impossible to tell which player is screwing up. These are level 70's in a level 60 extreme trial that can barely do damage. That's depressingly bad. Couldn't break any mechanics.

When we finally got a group that is good, every single mechanic was skipped due to DPS being high.

DPS players hate parsers because it points out that you are bad. Not the rest of the party, not the tank, not the boss, you.

People over estimate their skill far too much and when you call them out on being bad, they retaliate with insults and whatnot.

Enrage timers are there to hold the DPS to account - without them you could just run the group with all healers. You are literally talking yourself out of a job.

Enrage timers serve as a reminder that DPS who think their hotshots in casual content clearly are not in EX and Savage if the timer is going off. It's not a lazy tool and those that think it is, simply don't want to be held accountable that they're not pulling their weight in the fight, you shouldn't be able to watch Netflix and do EX or Savage at the same time. That's not going to fly here.

We all have one job and that's to do damage as a DPS and I've seen DPS boast that they can hit 5k and they're still doing 3k and we're hitting enrage because I can't pull the weight of 3 other DPS in my farming parties.

This is true, but we are talking about social pressures and basic play levels.
If a tank fails it is a wipe (unless it is a higher level where you have RDM able to carry with raises, cures and such, and have a RDM in your group to begin with)
If a healer fails it is a wipe, same as^

DPS that under-perform... well a lot of people can't even tell if a DPS is doing well. a lot of times if you try comment on this or basic rotation ideas, another player might say "they are doing fine it is not savage"

DPS has the "least" social pressure on them to perform well.

This turns Savage into a complete joke. In fact, you wouldn't even bring four DPS since no enrage timers seems bring two WARs and a PLD. Without enrages, you're essentially looking at Ridorana where the true mechanic is just throwing bodies at the boss until it keels over. Coincidentally, people would still care about kill times. So...
