Took my alt through Eden today. Got caught between a couple of AoEs on E1 and died. Tanked the floor for more than a third of the fight while the healers and the summoner kept DPSing away. Thanks for the carry, I guess?

So yesterday, I was super unlucky. I tried to beat the reset timer and queue as a tank an hour before and I got Amaurot. Nothing can go wrong right? Nope. Healer kept spamming hey. Heeeeey. And everyone was like hi what's up? Their healing was something special as a sch and they would stop randomly. They died on each boss but luckily dps was alright enough we survived but the ninja was sick of the healer and became testy after the twelfth time of them going heeeey lmao. Omg I can't talk with you guys. Hello I can't see what I am typing. And their typing became full of errors their healing worse. I pull two packs after second boss and they just don't heal efficiently and then stand in everything and die.
Then the hellos start with omg I can't see you xD. Hello can you see what I am typing? I am cringing the ninja is spitting fire demanding to know if they're a bot. After waiting five minutes they come to the party. I pull one pack and healer insists they know what they're doing to get me to pull more. As the tank I'm like no, I'm not pulling more than your fairy can handle. We get to the boss room with 15 mins to spare before reset. Ninja says we're gonna die and healer starts up the Omg I can't see you uwu crap again. W.e she's here so I pull. We last until the first big blast where you gotta stand on the sides. Healer dies. That's fine we have a redmage- nope healer respawned and starts the whole I can't see what I am doing crap.
Ten mins left we wait for loot to time out and boot. We waited for another healer but I find out that redmage that is new didn't click to allow ppl to queue in. I leave five mins after the reset.
Disgusted, I decided I needed to play my drg to burn off some steam. Requeue and I get the same freaking healer. I am instantly pissed. They say something along the lines of please don't be rude as my previous party. I pipe up instantly, oh hey its the troll healer from my last group. So much as put one toe out of line and I will leave this group just to report you from earlier.
Their healing continued to suck. But they didn't say a word and kept with the group, surprisingly. They died at every boss and we wiped at the last boss once. Second time it was just me and the tank burning him down. But my god what rotten luck. Now I'm gonna go take a week break.
That's just the thing. Even after our team asked the tank to use an aoe attack to keep aggro on the mobs, the tank just continued to single target one enemy while the other enemies chased our healer around. There was no communication from the tank. I died a little inside as a tank main too having to deal with that during the Ghimlyt Dark run.
Running alt through antitower, run into an Arcanist. No job stone, no 2nd ring, no pet.
You do you I guess...
Unpopular opinion around here probably, but I love when I'm in a group where people do that. I mean, it's not like there's anything remotely engaging or interesting about literally any of the combat in the raid, including the bosses. The entire run is just sprint from door to door, mash buttons/doors before the pack of mobs catches up to you, and teleport to the boss room if they do catch up to you (if they kill you before you can button mash past them). Even if every cutscene is skipped by enough people to kill the boss before you're out, you still end up running for half of it - it's not til the cutscene before the elevator boss that you pretty much get stuck in constant cutscenes up until Ultima (based on the run I had where like five people were skipping the cutscenes). Saved me the effort of running from room to room is what it did, and made the run quicker to boot.
And for the record, I was one of the people who got totally abandoned my first run through because everyone was skipping, and after one cutscene I was so far behind I spent the entire run lost and trying to figure out where TF everyone had gone. Which wasn't fun. But now with the boss room teleport and the forced cutscenes, you're not gonna miss much (other than running and button mashing and boring spank n tank boss fights) even if you're new. Aaand you're probably not gonna have to worry about getting lost.
That said, these raids were horribly designed from the beginning, and as tasty as that big chunk of Prae exp is, they should've been solo from the start and I wouldn't be too sad to see them made solo at some point in the future.
I've cooked a frozen pizza during Prae cut scenes before. Preheat the oven during the intro, put it in during Gaius's first speech before the colossus fight, take it out during Gaius's speech on the elevator and set it to cool, cut it after the first Ultima Weapon fight, eat while Lahabrea rambles.
What's up with young tanks lately. Been getting alot of them in duty roulette that are always turning the tanks stand on and off on and off on and so on in a middle of a fight's and though i and other players try to explain to them how the t-stand work they keep on doing it ?????
-Didn't read the patch notes that stance dancing is no longer a thing
-Fat fingering
-Fat fingering and didn't read the patch notes.
-Confused about why they lost that one mob, clicked their stance because they think it was off but really it was on, now they lose more mobs so they click it back on, they manage to grab but they forgot to move themselves to grab that one that they still didn't get in the first place, they finally check the enemy list on the right of their screen, click on the mob they couldn't tag, finally hit provoke and nab the little bugger. One party member managed to die during that whole shenanigan but at least balance was restored.
That last point was not based on a true story. Nope, totally not mine.
Ah, so it's on the principle of reporting.
This community truly needs shining beacons of integrity. Lord knows what these degenerates do the msq roulette when they insist on cutting ahead through their own means. I shall remember to do the same the next time I hear Nero getting whacked away during his cutscene while I may or may not be catching up on some Netflix shows.
Agreed. Reporting is not enough. Next ne'erdowell to skip these glorious cutscenes, I shall skip myself so that I may personally give them an earful.
And if you do it enough, some disgruntled people may or may not report you.
The game is like life. It has rules, and while sometimes intentionally and blatantly breaking rules can benefit you personally (often at the cost of other people), it is always risky. The "nobody cares" logic only works until somebody cares, and then you find yourself in trouble.
Queued leveling roulette as DNC. My main is WHM.
We end up getting The Navel and I'm thinking, "Great, this should go quickly."
I was wrong.
I think we wiped approximately 10 times. We had a WHM who I don't think casted Regen a single time, I don't ever recall seeing a Medica go up until maybe the last attempt. At one point the tank suggests they use Regen instead of spamming Cure over and over and that apparently just goes entirely unheeded.
People keep getting yeeted off the ledge, even after being told not to stand inside the red line but next to it.
I'm popping my one DNC heal to keep the tank alive.
They did apologize once we cleared it, but man...when people are giving you advice and it's just completely ignored it gets irritating.
But no one asked about the risk. The question is "why report someone for skipping cutscenes as its not harming anyone (unless there are sprouts)?" Just cause "its an exploit" is not a very good reason. Are you reporting people doing the floating item trick in their houses for expoiting, as well?
Apples and oranges, floating items in houses don't affect gameplay.
Okay. But I mentioned it anyway. *shrugs*
I'm not reporting anyone. Outside of the right-click option for reporting RMT, I've never reported anyone. However, there are many people other than me out there who are more than willing to report you for such exploits, and acknowledging the fact may possibly benefit you.
Simple- floating items are not against the rules - skipping is. You accepted the ToS. *shrug*
Yes, someone skipping ahead and triggering stuff in advance because of exploits affects the whole group.
Also, not sure about you but I don't like people who cheat. I also report gold sellers, sue me.
It's hilarious that reporting someone who goes against the rules now makes you a bad person, rather than breaking the rules.
If some people are allowed to break the rules, then there's no reason everyone shouldn't be allowed to break the rules. And if everyone is allowed to break the rules, then the system fails, and things are back to where they started before SE implemented the unskippable cutscenes.
If you don't want to put in the time for MSQ roulette, DON'T QUEUE FOR IT. It is a very easy concept to understand. The rewards for it are based on the unskippable cutscenes, so no one has any right to complain about having to watch the cutscenes if they want those rewards.
Hmm...yes and no? Before the unskippable cutscenes, we didn't have teleports to boss rooms and people were yelling at other people to catch up. Now we got people who take it upon themselves to advance themselves while anyone who wants to enjoy the cutscenes can do so at their leisure. I will admit though that the one caveat might actually be the fights themselves. Though I have yet to be in that sort of party who managed to kill a boss before the cutscene ends (at most so far, I've seen 3 people skip). Now, if someone where to actually order people to skip too, I'd have a problem with that but so far, haven't met anyone like that. Yet.
So no, not quite the "going back the way things were before".
Here's another easy concept to understand: most of the time, nobody puts in the time for MSQ roulette. At least, not in the way most might conventionally think. Specifically Prae. Once you complete the magitek part, movie begins and no one who's been in Prae before a million times is mentally invested. Once that particular sequence starts, people are gaming something else, cooking, cleaning, ordering ubereats, they're watching something on their second screen, you name it. Castrum...hmm, different beast. It's shorter, the cutscenes are shorter, so yes, people are definitely putting time in that one.
I'll agree one thing though: no one should be complaining about the rewards. Whether you decided to be proper and let the cutscenes run their course or skip ahead, I myself roll my eyes at people complaining about msq cutscenes. For the love of god, please shut up. You've been there, you know the cutscenes can't be skipped. Do what you want but when it comes to the cutscenes, please shut.the.hell.up.
Battle at Big Keep
So I qued for this as dps it was almost 4 hours wait time. Finally pops and I watched cutscene people skipped and started the battle. The timer for advancing to sealed area expired before I finished watching the cutscene. So I couldn't get in the fight or use chat.
The only thing I could do was move my character around. Also on of the healers was with me also got locked out. I watched the fight for about 10 minutes and left. I of course got the 30 minute penalty. I was furious.
I haven't even tried to reque since. BTW this is the quest for Manderville ARR. So like jumping the gun sucks for those who actually like watching some of the cutscene and in my case I got penalized because of the seal timer. Granted I could ve waited to fight finished but i wanted to participate..
I guess nobody really cares about others exp only there own...
Because the ff14 community is dead-set against anything that makes tedious stuff any less tedious.Quote:
......but why?
Its generally the same people that argue high end crafting should always have a chance to fail because crafters make too much money or that personal housing is bad because they cant get the plot they want (its bad for a lot of reasons, but thats not one of them).
This happened to me too.
I just sat down and waited for them to finish it. One of the others admonished the tank sayin they need to wait on this one so others don't get locked out, but it was already too late.
I have never been carried before so it was a weird feeling. But hey, I got the through it AND I got the minion from the loot roll.
This is how I got Enkidu lmao
Watched the cutscene, got locked out... and figured hey, if they're not gonna be considerate and wait, I'm not gonna be considerate at pass on the loot I didn't get to fight for :P
Free green chicken, for zero effort on my part. /Shrug
Reporting people for breaking rules is not the same thing as wanting the game to be tedious. It just means that they take the rules seriously, where as the people being reported do not.
If you think you can convince YoshiP to remove the cutscene restriction entirely without having people take matters into their own hands and using exploits, be my guest.
Removing the cutscene restriction means removing the improved larger rewards. If you don't want the rewards... don't queue for the msq roulette which REQUIRES you to sit through the REQUIRED cutscenes which are WHY there are the larger rewards. You EXPLOIT and skip them then you 100% deserve to be reported and punished. You do not deserve the rewards that have been added for sitting through the cutscenes. It's simple logic.
You don't do the one, you don't get the other.
I actually really do hope that they finish updating ARR and making all of that something that is done with TRUSTS or something so that there are no more mega-rewards at all. Then there aren't any issues like this in the first place. Simple solution. Elegant. And just what everyone deserves at this point.
IMO forcing the cutscenes on everyone was a bad solution, though undoubtedly an easy one. A better one would have been to make it so they're only skipped if everyone presses the skip button. That way newcomers would get to watch their cutscenes if they want to, but all-veteran parties could skip them and finish the dungeon quickly.
The ideal solution I think is to retool these two 8 man dungeons into solo instances with npc help. With maybe a trial fight at the end just for the second ultimat weapon fight + Lahabrea if they want to keep a climax similar to the expansion final fights. But that would take time. Maybe it'll be in the 5.3 msq updates they're planning for ARR.
Forcing the cutscenes to be unskippable was certainly the easy solution. But also a fair one I think. If you don't want to deal with the cutscenes, there are other ways to get tomes and exp. And having it be variable could lead to issues. LIke kicking new people to open up the ability to skip them. People that just want to redo the full experience again being unable to. And the fact that the rewards are only so high BECAUSE of the time investment. You may bet people joining and then dropping when not able to skip because they don't want to put in the time for the rewards and want the inflated rewards without the time sink.
I really just don't see it as a big deal because it's not like people are compelled to do every roulette every single day. You never have to do Praetorium again after clearing it for your msq if you don't sign up for it.
