That's why I prefer don't finish my day with roulette. It's like DF knows you're in a hurry and drops you in a kindergarten.
Just wanted to share a pleasant experience I had the other night:
I played for like a month a few years ago, then recently came back to the game. Never even finished HW, let alone anything deeper into the game (despite going all in and preordering EW). Anyways, I was doing some trial or other (couldn't tell you which, unfortunately) as a SCH, quite suboptimally due to being a returning player with little experience even before my last hiatus. Whatever it was, it was a first-time run for me. Anyways, whatever it was we were fighting was down to like, 10% health or so? When a raidwide killed pretty much everyone except me somehow. I instaraised the other healer, only for them to get downed somehow right away. So it's just me and I think one tank still up, and I'm just like "well I guess we'll just grind away? Do I have the time to slow raise?" when someone chats "Heal LB3?" Oh, right, that's a thing. I didn't even have it hotbarred because I've never played savage/extreme content and basically figured I'd never be in the situation where I'd need to LB3 as a healer. So I pop it off, get everyone up, and am like "heck yes. I'm the hero."
Only got a single comm tho - I think I died to some mechanic earlier in the fight and it was only dumb luck that I clutched it. This is not to say I'm like, some comm-chasing wannabe burger king, I just thought, ya know, saving the raid from restarting might be ACTUALLY worth a comm, instead of the usual "just give them to the healers lol lmao" thoughtlessness?
This is a really mediocre story, I know, because I can't say what fight it was or when it was (sometime this past weekend, that's all I know). Felt really good though. I guess this isn't really a horror story, per SE? But I just wanted to brag about my accidental duty save somewhere without begging for updoots on Reddit or something.
I mean I'm not really in that big of a rush. It's just I want to enjoy myself, and that's not enjoyable. I don't know how anyone can find enjoyment in slowly killing 3 mobs at a time in level 50+ content. If it's level 50 content or under and there's sprouts I'll handhold but otherwise I really expect more.
So my curse strikes again.
Yesterday a friend and I were running normal raid roulettes and we were thrown into P8N. I went in on BLM and he went in on PLD, and I realized it had been a while since I last did this fight, especially as a caster.
I'm still trying to nail down good spots to park myself to just spam Fire 4 to my heart's content in the fight before mechanics go back out.
So somewhere in the fight I realize vents were going out along with torches, and I said in voice chat 'I'm gonna die' while I was trying to move to a safe spot.
Suddenly 4 people just exploded and died, including my friend. My friend was understandably upset and made mention in party chat that I should just not speak the phrase. Like at all ever.
I can't help it.
No worries. Its all right there in the title. "Some make you laugh, some make you cry. Lets vent." Sharing good experiences and funny experiences is just as valid as sharing a horror story to get it off your chest(and hopefully purge it from your mind). Some people have weird expectations about this thread. Any story you feel should be told is welcome. Another not-so-secret, is that a lot of the people who come here to share bad experiences? Theyre actually talking about how much THEY screwed up, and hoping the party forgave them.
LVL roulette yesterday on my MCH, got Dzemael Darkhold with a party of sprouts and things go pretty smoothly throughout the run, until we hit the last boss.
WHM and NIN go night-night pretty fast from the cleave attacks and the puddles of pain on the floor which they didn't avoid, and WAR ends up dying as well with the boss at a couple % HP left.
Meanwhile I'm just running around, pew-pewing the boss until he finally dies, while my party members cheer me on from the floor.
Good times :)
Decided to BLM in Euphrosyne. Not even comfortable with the job, not even decently geared, still keeping constant freezes since 6.35 AND my PC acting weird for two weeks. Don't ask why. I blame solar flares.
Anyway I want to apologize to the healers. Even though I died only once there was many cases where I was close. You did great job.
i decided to join a hydaelyn ex group for duty completion
with me and the rpr being first timers
first pull we wiped but second was the clear
and we cleared 5 more times after that
got advice from one of the players and i learned to stay away from healers with the spread and stay with the right group for the magic vuln up cleaves
got TT card the mount 1 weapon coffer and drg spear
it was a nice fight havent had such fun since mount farming shinryu/hades ex+the music adds to that
also joined a PF group for the dark inside to help a fellow player
sure we had few wipes but whm lb3 saved us
got the zodiark card for the second time?
those are my tales
Really can't be bothered finding that person anymore, but to whoever "actually"ed me: no, Lightspeed and Ascend don't work together.

Not that it really mattered in the fight, but why do people choose to have dumb things tied to their macros? Did MSQ roulette on my alt and got the fight against Ultima Weapon. The tank would occasionally say in say Hit me hard daddy. Now I know after the 1st time they wouldn't need to macro it to repeat it. And yet it just came off as something that was tied to a macro. This wasn't even the first time I had a tank have something like that tied to a skill that they would be using frequently. Another thing that I've been seeing recently is in dungeons tanks mostly newer ones just use voke every time it elwas off cool down. I tend to see it happen a lot with low level DRks who in dungeons that you know they're not new to as the game doesn't post the "someone is new" message and there is no mapping achievement pop up for them. Depending on the day I will tell them that they shouldn't need to voke the boss that they have solid hate on. Only to be ignored.
Bit random but after tanking most every roulette for the past couple of days I've run into this little pet peeve multiple times.
I don't really care if a DPS or Healer managed to run ahead of me, but please, please do something useful. Do not be that person that sits there at the wall or whatever barrier there is while there's still healthy trash left to finish clearing just so you can run ahead of the tank, not even Rescueing them forward or helping to pull with Arm's Length. And please, do DPS as we walk. I double aoe each pull just to make sure that no matter how hard you dps you won't be pulling aggro.
Been a while since i left a dungeon and took the penalty.
Yesterday in Trial roulette: chrysalis. Me on Astro.
2 people were new, both of them dps (SAM and DRG).
People explain in chat to wait with the LB and only use it in second phase.
They also explain to not stand in the meteors if you're not a tank.
So of course once the LB3 was fully charged, one of the new dps, the DRG, used it on the boss >_>.
Both of the new dps than die because they each stood in the meteors, so of course we fail the dps check and wipe.
After that when asked "who used LB?" the DRG said "Sorry".
I just left and took the 30 minutes penalty. If people cant read, then im not helping them clear content.
Just tested. Ascend and lightspeed works together. (I have some spellspeed so my base cast time was ~7.84 seconds). The new cast time got shortened to 5.39 seconds)

Was running the Dancing Plague in trial roulette. All seemed normal until the blue knockback marker showed up. For whatever reason, all of the DPS felt compelled to stand IN the blue circle rather than at the edge. They all died. I asked healers to LB3 to quickly rez so we could clear the DPS check. Nope. Healers all decided to hardcast Raise on all of the DPS. Knockback marker appears again, the newly revived DPS all jump BACK INTO THE SAME MECHANIC THAT KILLED THEM LAST TIME AND LINGERED THERE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. They all died again. Healers still wouldn't LB3, we wiped.
I was feeling a little antsy and the healers called me out for being passive-aggressive but... this isn't Sephirot fist slamming. Why are you stacking inside the blue circle on purpose?
I jumped into Euphrosyne on my GNB alt. Right from the start I was fighting for aggro with the other tank, so I went to turn off my tank stance. I selected the correct cross hotbar, didn't see the orange Royal Guard icon at a glance, switched to the other hotbar... and popped Superbolide. I'm still not used to the tank stance button changing color and becoming "Release from Tank Stance." Sorry, healers.
Would be a shame if someone used Physick

Just so you all know, I'm the SMN in dungeons that doesn't use Phoenix in the first trash pack. I want to save it to open on the boss fight because I like it better and want to use searing light during the Phoenix window instead of Bahamut. That's all it is, I am trash and will take my crucifixion now.
/sigh...this game has gotten quite toxic in duty finder (at least for me these last couple months).
Seems like 5 out of every 10 dungeons are finished by getting a not-so-positive bit of feedback following IMMEDIATELY by the person dropping group as to not hear any sort of rebuttal.
Have also been in 2 groups since the start of March that have had people claim to not give commendations to certain races lol.
Commendations don't mean a whole lot to me but why go out of your way to announce your prejudice towards certain character races in a video game?
Idk. I've played this game since ARR and I still love it. It will always have a special place in my heart and I'm sure I'll still play it but this is the first time I've felt like taking a break simply because of the social aspect being a fairly negative experience.
I play other MMO's as well and they all have toxic moments in them but I've always taken significant breaks from those games while FFXIV has been the exception. Guess it just sucks that they're becoming a similar experience.
Anyways...didn't mean to rant, saw the opportunity to vent and took advantage.
Trials Roulette: Chrysalis. As a SCH, with my AST friend.
I dc’ed midway, then logged back in right as the party died to the last giant meteor. LB gauge reset. 7 bodies on floor. Aetherial Tear is still alive at 42% remaining. So I uhh… hard raise everybody to continue the duty… xD
I have unintentionally glitched the duty lmfao. Best dc timing ever.
As funny as that comic is, sch still shouldn't ever spam Physick in a high-level duty with 80-90% mp remaining to sustain a tank that's having to double-stack defensive cooldowns just to survive. I can only do so much as a drk to cover terrible healers with bad attitudes.
Though now that I think about it, your character looks exactly like the bun sch I had that day.
No look, all 8 portraits are intact!!

Dunno, I dont believe its hard, also since devs added new healing potions, its now even easier. I am playing like this since end of SHB and start of EW (coz cant access EW), no problems so far. I even found conjurer more enjoyable than whm, coz its completely different gameplay and no press-win abilities.
As tank or healer I mostly do good, I know mechanics, I know how conjurer works, I pay attention to adds as tank, I know ABCtoN rule, nobody ever complained about my performace (only some people didnot like my class Icon), I have a good amount of commendations. I think we are talking about different things now, nobody ever carried me.
You seem to missunderstand me. You go out of your way to perform worse. If you are still playing well, good for you. However you would most likely be even better if you played the job instead of the class. As simple as that. Not equiping a job stone is a deliberate choice of yours that negatively impacts the group you are in. This is why i brought up all the other things i could think of in 2 seconds that other players can do that negatively impact the group. If you deliberatly don't equip a job stone, then why shouldn't i RP as a ice mage? And how about all of the alliance, all players, playing base classes? The raid will probably take much longer.
That's so weird to me. Yeah it is kinda op. That's why you mostly cast your 111111 dps spell. So the gameplay isn't even that different?
Forgot this:
So OTHERS have to get the good potions while you can't be bothered to equip a job stone.
You claim you aren't carried but don't even seem to understand that the battles would take less time if you did have a job stone equiped. Are you also claiming you don't know what a job stone is if asked to equip one? You don't seem to comprehend that other people have lifes too and might not be willing to join your challenge run. I would try to kick you and report you if we would enter a duty above lvl 35. If i was forced to do a duty with you i would netflix and chill. Maybe even auto-attacking. Why should I do my job while you don't? I don't get how people don't comprehend this. Or why they pretend not to get it.
Ye, as conjurer I have to some adjust stats, coz need mana regen, u must actually use foodbuff, and use potions (the one for mana or hp). You also have to watch u team more closely, like where they go, what are they doing, are u in range with them and etc. Use some macros for target assisting. Its kinda interesting overall, but its hard to understand, you should try urself first to understand it.
I can just requeue again, not a big deal.
